K-pop meets the gaming world

The "King of K-pop", G-Dragon, has teamed up with the hit game Battleground to make his long-awaited gaming debut. After taking over the fashion industry, he has teamed up with a global titan, PUBG: Battlegrounds.

This time, it is not just a collaboration, but more of a crossover with blurred lines between K-pop and gaming, which brings pop culture into the virtual gaming world. This news was revealed at this Las Vegas concert, as fans anticipate the exclusive, G-Dragon-inspired content set to drop this month, promising to inject his signature style and avant-garde influence into the world's most popular shooter. This partnership is a testament to the immense power of the Hallyu wave and cements gaming's status as a new frontier for global superstars.

To celebrate this landmark collaboration between the two industries, Krafton has announced that between September 11 and September 14, it will run a limited pop-up at the PUBG Seongsu, which is home to the brand's cultural hub right in the upmarket area of Seoul.

The event space will offer various themed activities, including lucky draws, a shooting game, custom keyring workshops, and immersive photo zones designed to bring the world of PUBG: Battlegrounds to life. The Doejon team thinks that this is a fantastic marketing strategy, which will for sure trend on social media.

Creating Immersive Fan Experiences

Like collaborations in the past with BLACKPINK and aespa, the gaming world can bring a whole host of new opportunities for K-pop stars and their fans. This is possible from the in-game concerts and virtual reality, to the more custom-made emotes and skins, which help to up-sell items and allow fans to live in the artist's world themselves, which is an exciting possibility for many young Koreans.

G-Dragon's partnership, with its pop-up events and exclusive content, is expected to take this to a new level.

A New Venue for Artist Promotion

K-pop groups are traditionally promoted through album sales, tours, and shows, along with up-sells through content on social media content.

Now with video game collaborations, this is an equally, if not more, powerful tool. By releasing content within PUBG, G-Dragon is not only reaching his existing fanbase but also millions of new, highly engaged gamers who might not be traditional K-pop listeners.

This exciting new crossover will launch on platforms during September for the PC version, and the full console version will roll out on September 18, 2025. The mobile version will follow the day after, on September 19, 2025.
