South Korea did it again, as they tied their gold medal record to finish 8th at this year's 2024 Paris Olympic Games ! Let's take a look at how all the athletes faired and the highlights that came with those gold medals! South Korea finished the medal race in eighth place with 13 gold medals, nine silver medals, and 10 bronze medals, far exceeding its own and many Koreans own projections. South Korea tied its Summer Games record for most gold medals, equaling the mark from 2008 and 2012. That for me sounds pretty impressive still out of all the countries in the world. Of course, countries that entered more contestants such as China and the United States won more medals, however, Korea's efforts did not go amiss. Let's take a look at the point's table: South Korea sent 144 athletes in 21 sports to France, its smallest delegation for a Summer Olympics since 1976. Why? Well sadly, this year Korea didn't qualify teams for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's volleyball, and men's and women's football, among other team sports. Though the size of the delegation wasn't likely to impact South Korea's medal chances — the country wouldn't have been a medal contender in any of those ball sports — it fed into the general sense of pessimism throughout the nation. K-pop fans were alarmed and triggered by some K-media outlets when they found out that their beloved Suga from the global phenomenon BTS came under investigation due to a DUI incident. New footage has been released and we are here to share it! Read on to find out the truth! K-media outlet DongA Ilbo has been credited with releasing the latest footage of Suga's DUI accident . The footage shows the K-pop star losing balance and falling over while manning an electric scooter. The new footage went viral as fans reacted to the clip. The CCTV footage obtained by DongA Ilbo showed the K-pop star at 11:10 PM on Sunday passing by three police officers patrolling the sidewalk near Nainon Hannam in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and fell while turning left in front of the main gate of Nainon Hannam. The police approached Suga, who was picking up his helmet, and tried to help him. In the process, they confirmed that Suga was operating the electric scooter under the influence and conducted a breathalyzer test. The results showed that the star's blood alcohol level was 0.227 percent, which is the level at which they can revoke his driver's license. According to the police, Suga had a drink with acquaintances at a restaurant near Hannam Ogeori around 9 p.m. on the day of the incident and then moved to a private studio together to drink. He returned home around 11 p.m. on his electric scooter. The studio was found to be about 500 meters away from Nine One South. DongA Ilbo shed light about some inaccurate broadcasts of some K-news outlets as it turned out that "Suga was not the one in the video riding an electric scooter on the road" ! In the video, the electric scooter is running from across the street from Nine-in-One South toward Namsan, but Suga returned to the sidewalk toward Nine-in-One South, and the route was different. The report that Suga hit the boundary stone and fell was also found to be untrue. Fans were outraged once they found out this happened. I remember when I first came to Korea in 2020 and had to complete the mandatory 10-day quarantine (during COVID) and during that time, I spent a lot of time watching various Korean TV and happened to come across Being Again . I really love music, acoustic music especially, so I was taken aback by the vocal talent and idea behind the program. At that time Henry Lau, and Lee Su Hyun ( AKMU ) were for sure my favorite! Since then the cast has changed with other great stars appearing as well as the change in destinations. I really like how they cover international songs as well as Korean songs making the show more diverse. The latest addition to the list is Park Jeongwoo , the main vocalist of TREASURE ! The skillful fourth-generation idol recently appeared in the show along with Red Velvet’s Wendy and other renowned South Korean singers. With soul-stirring performances of “Always” and “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You,” he won over everyone's hearts, demonstrating his undeniable talent and potential. I have not really had much exposure to the K-pop band TREASURE, however having listened to this cover, I went on to check the band out, and I have now listened to many of their songs and will continue to do so. Begin Again for me, was an easy introduction to K-pop and the music scene here in Korea, I really hope that the show adapts and continues to run over time. Known as "the man behind the hit "Way Back Home" , Kim Yoon Ho, known professionally as Shaun (Korean: 숀), is a South Korean singer-songwriter, music producer, and DJ. Read on to learn more about this quiet superstar! SHAUN was born on June 6, 1995, in Seoul, South Korea. He first gained recognition for winning the fourth season of the show Superstar K in 2014. After winning the show, he released his first studio album in 2015 titled Page 0 . In 2016 he released his second studio album Take Off , which featured the singles “On My Way” and “It’s Okay”. He released two more albums in 2017, one of which was a collaboration with rapper Giriboy and another with rapper Basick. Shaun has become a household name in Korea in recent years and has also trended globally with his collaborations with international artists. The singer debuted in 2010 as the keyboardist and singer for an indie rock band called The Koxx. Since then, he has made his name as one of the top DJs in South Korea. In 2018, his song "Way Back Home" was released, surpassing releases by groups such as BTS and BLACKPINK . BTS's Suga’s DUI case has recently caused much speculation and headlines, so what happened? We have all the details! BTS‘s Suga is under investigation for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) at the Yongsan Police Station on August 6, 2024 (KST) , when Suga operated his electric vehicle home as the latest developments are being reported. Suga had initially claimed to have only consumed one glass of beer, but the new evidence suggests otherwise. This revelation may lead to harsher punishments, including fines of up to 20 million KRW (approximately USD 17,000) or imprisonment for up to five years. Being 0.2 over the limit, is that really that high? What effects would that have had on his ability to drive the scooter? Probably not too much. The Yongsan Police Station has yet to decide whether to revoke Suga's license, which would result in a one-year suspension from driving. HYBE , BTS's management agency, has not commented on the report, but should they actually? What are their limits for protecting and representing the star? Should the star represent himself and take responsibility? Personally, I do not think it matters if you are a high-profile celebrity such as BTS' Suga or an ordinary citizen. The law is clear and although I disagree with these scooters being used on roads, I think it was a misjudgment by Suga. I believe that the singer should have just taken a taxi home. However, my question is that this would have never of come to light if a celebrity such as his ranking would have been caught in the act, instead of an ordinary citizen. Of course, the singer should face the same punishment regardless of his social ranking else it sets a bad precedent for the Government. (One rule for one, and one for another) I do think that half the time celebrity's think that they are above the law.
