Now, there have been fan rumors, that Jennie might either voice the lead character Rumi, or perhaps star as a major inspiration behind her. If these fan rumors are to be true, then this would be another impressive milestone for Jennie! Why would Jennie be a good match? Fans have noticed strong visual and stylistic similarities between Jennie and Rumi, such as their fashion, attitude, and stage presence. Some interviews with the creators added fuel to the rumors when Jennie was mentioned as one of several inspirations for the character. However, director Maggie Kang later clarified that Rumi is not based solely on Jennie, but on a wide range of female artists, both within and outside of K-pop. Despite this, some fans however believe Jennie’s image was used to promote the film without her actual involvement, sparking backlash and debate online. On August 12, 2024, K-drama actors  Kim Seon Ho, Cha Seung Won, Kim Kang Woo, and Jo Yoon Soo showcased their talents in a new Disney+  series about the race to find a stolen bioweapon TheTyrant . When I heard the genre of the new series, I was excited . I love to watch thriller/horror-style shows as they are more engaging and entertaining. Let's take a look at the teaser trailer! As you can see in the official trailer, the teasers for the series promised an action-packed thriller that focuses on a dark subject matter, but The Tyrant for some people has been literally  too dark  to watch at times. Here the fans are not actually talking about the plot and story line being to dark to engage with, but more the fact that some of the scenes were literally filmed in the dark, which made it hard to make out what was happening. Now, I am all about creating a mood, however having watched it for myself I totally agree. During some of the action scenes or tense scenes it was very hard to see what was going on, which unfortunately spoiled the mood for me. In addition to this, like most modern dramas, when the series started it dived right into a storyline, which I had no idea what was happening as I had no background information, so on top of not really being able to see what was going on, I had to try and piece together clues. This led me to think that perhaps there had been some big budget cuts or even a power cut while filming. With most of the scenes being too dark to watch, will the overall ratings and success be a flop? There was a huge uproar amongst K-drama enthusiasts about MBC’s drama, When the Phone Rings . It started on a great note and discussions about the drama began during the very first week of airing. The main attraction of this drama was primarily the chemistry between the lead actors, Chae Soo Bin ( I'm not a Robot , 2017) and Yoo Yeon Seok ( Hospital Playlist , 2020). Additionally, the themes of the show, revolving around dark romance, thriller, and suspense, were very intriguing and always left viewers wanting more. Many even called it " Booktok-coded. The show kept the viewers hooked for a good three-fourths of its run, but the finale didn’t quite hit the mark. Apart from the fact that one of the scenes from the show apparently mocked the ongoing political crisis, the plot twist and the climax did not live up to the exceptional beginning and build-up. The storyline started leaving many plot holes that viewers expected to be addressed. For instance, the story lacked a deeper insight into characters like Ji Sang Woo , played by Heo Nam Joon ( Your Honor , 2024), and Hong In A , played by Han Jae Yi ( Mask Girl , 2023). Instead, the narrative left them hanging while focusing on the main male lead’s past traumas. We also didn’t get to see much of how the relationship between the two main lead characters evolved since their childhood. The drama left viewers yearning for a solid conclusion, but it was far from what fans had hoped for. On the other end, some fans defended the show whole-heartedly. The performances, themes, and even the original soundtrack of the show grabbed everyone’s attention and stayed consistent until the end.
