- This is the best way to cool off in South Korea during summertime! [First hand experience!]
Korean summers are notoriously known to be hot, especially in Daegu cordially nicknamed "Daefrica" (Daegu and Africa combined). We show you the best way to beat the heat during the upcoming sweltering months! There is nothing better than jumping into a refreshingly cold swimming pool on a hot and humid summer day. Recently, I went to Daegu's famous Spa Valley Waterpark to check out their half-price June special before schools are out for the summer break. A great thing I found about this waterpark compared to previous years that I have been is that they have recently spent the winter months renovating the park, changing rooms, and car park area, making it much more comfortable to visit! Upon entering the park, you can purchase your tickets and proceed to the shoe storage lockers before heading to the changing rooms. Inside the changing rooms are Korean-styled saunas and hot pools which were great after spending the day in the park, and both changing rooms are separate for men and women. The waterpark has a lazy river, a wave pool, a swimming pool, and water slides/rides including a children's pool. At certain times of the day one of the swimming pools had a foam party! Inside there were also different temperature-controlled saunas and steam rooms which were new this year. I was advised to wear a life jacket in the wave pool and lazy river, so the rental cost was 7,000 KRW (5.00 USD) for the day. Although I love water rides, my favorite has got to be floating around in the lazy river, since it has been so hot and humid recently! I do recommend arriving at the park early in the day. Yes, there will still be a line to enter the park, but it means that if you beat the rush you can get on some of the rides before it peaks to capacity towards mid-morning, and of course, beat the heat! Tickets & Parking: Can be purchased on-site. For more information, check out the website: https://english.visitkorea.or.kr/svc/contents/infoHtmlView.do?vcontsId=137272 Let us know in the comments below, if you will be heading to a water park to cool off this summer! #summertime #beattheheat #daegu #funthingstodo #swimming #pooltime

Rarely do we hear Korean celebrities or businessmen make charitable donations to help the less fortunate in Korea. We question whether this is to Korean culture or whether donating is not a priority for most Koreans. We asked this question to some young Koreans and the overall response was that most young Koreans favor donating. Since many Koreans are struggling to make ends meet, they feel that the need for a certain amount must be needed in order for them to donate. What do you think about this? Should the Korean news report more of these celebrity donations? Let us know!

- Jisoo Fights Zombies with a Frying Pan in "Newtopia"'s Hilarious Apocalypse Adventure
Jisoo fights zombies in style in Newtopia. Blackpink's Jisoo is making her much-anticipated return to acting in the new Coupang Play series, Newtopia , alongside actor Park Jeong Min . On January 7, 2025, the official trailer for Newtopia was released by streaming platforms Netflix and Prime Video, sending fans into a frenzy with its exciting spoilers. The drama is set in a post-zombie apocalypse world, where Jisoo plays Kang Young Ju, who breaks up with her slow-witted boyfriend, Lee Jae Yoon, portrayed by Park Jeong Min. Young Ju decides to end the relationship, believing she needs to move on, just as Jae Yoon enlists in the military. Jisoo and Park Jeong Min in the drama "Newtopia" (Credits: Coupang Play) However, chaos ensues when a zombie apocalypse breaks out in South Korea. Overwhelmed with guilt and concern for her boyfriend’s safety in the army, Young Ju regrets her decision. Determined to make things right, she sends Jae Yoon heartfelt texts, promising to rescue him no matter what. Jae Yoon is deeply moved by her resolve, but the series takes a humorous turn as he encounters Young Ju fighting zombies with unconventional weapons like a frying pan and an umbrella. The lighthearted yet action-packed sequences bring a unique twist to the zombie apocalypse genre. Newtopia is being hailed as the first "zom-com" series, a term coined by fans, as it blends comedy with thrilling action and suspense. While fans eagerly await the release of All of Us Are Dead Season 2, Newtopia has emerged as the perfect alternative to keep them entertained in the meantime. This marks Jisoo's second acting project following her debut in Snowdrop in 2021. Additionally, Jisoo is set to make her film debut this year in The Prophet: Omniscient Reader , co-starring Ahn Hyo Seop , Lee Min Ho , Chae Soo Bin , Nana , and others, scheduled for a July 2025 release. "Newtopia" (Credits: Coupang Play) Newtopia promises to be an amusing take on the zombie apocalypse genre. As the city grows increasingly dangerous, the seriousness of surviving the zombie outbreak is contrasted by the humour in the characters' quirky actions. The trailer itself has managed to evoke laughter rather than fear, a rare feat in apocalyptic-themed content. The series is directed by Yoon Sang Hyun, known for his work on films like Bleak Night (2010) and Time to Hunt (2020). The screenplay is co-written by Han Jin Won, who garnered acclaim for his work on Parasite (2019), and Ji Ho Jin, the writer of A Shop for Killers . Newtopia is set to premiere on February 7 on South Korean streaming platform Coupang Play. For global audiences, it will also be available for streaming on Prime Video. Share your excitement about Jisoo’s return to acting and let us know how much you’re looking forward to this unique comedy zombie drama. Stay tuned for more updates! #Newtopia #Jisoo #ParkJeongMin
- Korean fans angered as Oasis reunion tickets reach 10 million won ($7,470)!
With the Oasis world tour hitting the world stage, Korean fans were angered as Oasis reunion tickets reached 10 million won (USD 7,470) due to Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing structure. We dive into the details! Recently tickets for the long-awaited Oasis world tour were on sale in the UK, and many of my friends tried to purchase tickets, however, with the online ticket sale systems, all of them couldn't get tickets. In addition to the ticket queues that were expected, Ticketmaster also introduced a dynamic ticket system. This meant as there is more demand for tickets, the more expensive they will cost. To me this seems like a way to get more money, as a band such as Oasis has not reunited or toured for years. Tickets for the London Wembley concert reached as high as 6,000 pounds (about 10 million won) on resale platforms. Will this happen in Korea? Fans are worried, that due to the dynamic pricing, some tickets have reached up to 10 million won (£6,000) in the UK for some tickets. Does this mean that the average fan will not be able to afford such prices? What do you think? Would you continue with the ticket purchase? To me, it seems crazy, since that cost is enough to buy a nice holiday. The reunion tour comes after 15 years of resolving their feud, the Gallagher brothers' reunion as Oasis has electrified fans worldwide, especially among those in their 20s and 30s. While Oasis is often categorized as "Dad Rock" (classic rock listened to primarily by middle-aged men) overseas, they are significantly popular among young people in Korea. Due to Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing model, which raises prices based on demand, even seats far from the stage soared to around 1 million won ($750) in the UK. Let's take a look at this video which explains more about the pricing structure! The Gallagher brothers, Noel and Liam, are also known for their honest, rough, and controversial remarks and frequent sibling quarrels, which have made them intriguing to fans. With their British charm, they have managed to become successful in Korea as well. Of course, their fame has been further amplified by many Korean artists, including Baek Ye Rin, Jannabi , BTS' Jungkook , DAY6's Young K, BLACKPINK's Rosé and Lee Seung Yoon, who have covered their songs and performed to Korean audiences. Let's take a look back to the magic moment Oasis was in Korea last (Liam Gallagher). As the possibility of an Oasis concert in Korea remains undecided, interest in the band is expected to grow even further, but will fans be able to afford Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing system? Let us know what you think of Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing structure in the comments below. #Oasisreunion #GallagherBrothers #LiamGallagher #NoahGallagher #oasis25
- Our CEO/Founder Describes His Experience During South Korea's Halloween Tragedy
Source CNN South Korea has been devastated this Halloween. A crowd crush took place at 22:15 local time (KST) (10 pm) in the narrow alleyway district of Itaewon , witnesses said they could not move or breathe as thousands were shoulder-to-shoulder in alleyways no more than 4 meters (13 feet) wide . Dojeon Media sends out our love to those affected. We wanted to share one of our stories related to the crush. Here is a chat with Jonathan Lui our CEO/Founder: Ann : Jon, why is Itaewon so popular? Jon : Itaewon is a hot spot because when Korea thinks "Halloween ", they automatically think "we have to go to Itaewon. " It's just where the country goes to celebrate Halloween. It is the most concentrated area of foreigners in the country. Ann : When were you in Itaewon? Jon : From 4:30 - 8pm that Saturday Ann : I am so grateful that you were not there later than 8pm! What was the vibe like? Jon : The atmosphere was really quiet when I arrived at the restaurant we were going to have dinner. It started to get busy around 7pm when we went to a cafe. There were more and more people outside on the street with costumes and enjoying themselves. When we stepped out of the cafe it was about 7:30 and that's when I took the video. People started crowding the street, but for us that live here, it's pretty normal. Ann : Was it busy or calm when you were there? Jon : For the most part, it was pretty calm, there wasn't any pushing or shoving since there were many families with small children trick-or-treating. People were just enjoying the festivities (they had face painting and other fun Halloween games). Ann : How has this affected you? Jon : I felt this tragedy could have been avoided and unnecessary. But I also understand the need to go out and "stretch our COVID legs" since it's been 3 years since our last Halloween. I've already known this but "avoid crowds if possible", and this event just confirmed it. I feel bad for the parents of the students who were excited to go out and have a good time. They were given pocket money and encouraged to have fun. How do you think the parents felt? That kind of thing. Also, the foreigners who were just visiting. They had no clue that it would be like this. This is what we recorded during the Halloween festivities in Itaewon before the incident, around 19:30 KST. Readers, please comment below on the Halloween tragedy. How have you felt? Do you have your own story?
