Cignature has been hinting about a comeback for some time now, so when I heard the news that this was true just in time for summer, I was not surprised. However, I was taken aback by their 5th mini album "Sweetie but Saltie" . I think it's a playful take on the girls having a sweet appearance and attitude, but perhaps their alter ego being a bit sassy when it needs to be. I guess like most female stars there is always an alter ego to help them with confidence on stage. In their individual "B" version photos, the Cignature members exuded pure, angelic charms while surrounded by fish bowls, creating a tranquil atmosphere, which just makes me think of "all things summer" and generally feel relaxed. Now coming from the UK the idea of a tent bar, sounds cold and not that enjoyable unless it's by the coast or for a special event, as the British weather is well known for being wet, windy, and grey. However in Korea, tent bars (pojangmacha 포장마차) are on another level, and therefore popular with locals and tourists alike! We've also seen numerous K-drama scenes where the female lead spills her feelings for the guy she's in love with over a bottle of soju ! In this article, Dojeon team member, Lewis, will focus on the history of tent bars, but also why he enjoys them each weekend. Let's find out why! If I mentioned "tent bar" to a Korean they would most likely have no idea what I was talking about, the term Pojangmacha (Korean: 포장마차; also abbreviated as pocha 포차) is a street stall or small tent in South Korea, which is known for selling popular street foods such as hotteok, gimbap , tteokbokki , sundae (blood sausage), dak-kkochi (Korean skewered chicken), fish cake, mandu (dumplings), and anju (foods accompanying drinks). Many of these establishments serve alcoholic beverages such as soju and beer. The origin of pojangmacha is unclear but many trace it back to the street vendors of the 1950s and ‘60s who would drag around their wheeled stalls, selling soju by the shot along with munchies like roasted sparrow. It grew along with the country’s economic development over the following decades, expanding both in size and menu while cementing its place as a haven for office workers to let off steam. I believe that this is still the case in this day and age and with tourists they are unique to Korea allowing for a more genuine and interesting experience, with a sense of localness, which is something that I look for when I am away. I live in a fairly residential area and I have to say going to a tent bar (Namssooni) each week gives me a feeling of community, and I always find them to be filled with locals having a great time. I have a local tent bar and the atmosphere is always great, especially on the weekends. I find that the drinks offerings are simple yet effective and I always have a great time! I also think that it is great to try local foods from the menu which I typically would not try like pork neck and bean sprouts. Let's check out what I mean from the time I visited my local tent bar in Daegu! Now it has been said that the plainer the bar is the more popular it is, and in a Western culture that sounds strange, though in Korea it makes total sense. Franchises although popular offer no individual character or charm and often guests there can feel less remembered or special. Despite their popularity, many regard indoor pochas as a completely different beast from the original tented stalls, and just feel relaxed and comfortable drinking and eating there. That's what it's all about right? Typically I go to one bar every weekend and feel welcome there, and often get "service" (complimentary goods) for going so often. I think that the small touches like keeping local businesses open are what more people should be doing, and these days when I go I often don't have to order a drink as the waiter or waitress knows what I want which I think is really nice. A great thing for me as well, since I have three rescue dogs , I am able to take my dogs to these places and sit outside, which makes me feel more comfortable, and I also find that it sparks conversations with local people which is great! K-pop star Junny is set to make his highly-anticipated comeback with his new album "Dopamine" after 2 years of being away from the limelight. Here are all the details you need to know! "Dopamine" is set to be released on various music platforms on June 13, 2024 , which will be Junny's first album in around 2 years! His first album "blanc" was released in 2022 and became a hit with his native Korean audience. With the new release on the horizon, the upcoming album is said to explore various forms of dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the human brain that has been a recent topic of interest, offering Junny's unique interpretation throughout the album's storyline. Sounds interesting right? I think so. Let's take a look at one of Junny's hits from his first album! For me this video is awesome. I really love the simple shots and the club scene vibe with the different shades of lighting used. It makes it more memorable than flashy dance moves, with Junny having kept the focus on his vocal talent throughout. Ahead of the album release various content and teasers have been posted on social media from June 4th until the actual release (June 13th) to get his listeners excited. Junny is well known for his sensory visuals and narration. SEVENTEEN is set to make history by being the first K-pop act to perform at Glastonbury Festival UK this summer! Our Dojeon Media's very own, Lewis, is from the UK and he takes you on a musical journey to one of the UK's biggest music festivals! Read on for all the exciting details! So if you didn't already know, I am from Bristol in the UK, and Glastonbury is less than one hour's drive from my home. Each year tickets for the festival sell out almost instantly, and in the past few years, tickets have become harder and harder to get your hands on! When I heard the news that 2024 will see the debut of a K-pop band at the festival I was excited as it shows that they are incorporating acts from non-Western countries. Although when I heard the lineup was the band SEVENTEEN I would have to say that I became a bit skeptical, as I am not too sure how well they will be received compared to other K-pop acts. That being said, the Glastonbury stage is famous throughout the world and is an AMAZING platform for artists, especially since SEVENTEEN will be performing on the world-famous Pyramid Stage! Among the other world-famous artists appearing on the Pyramid Stage will be Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA, and Shania Twain. In the past, Elton John, Beyoncé, and Dolly Parton have also performed on the Pyramid Stage! Glastonbury is a five-day festival that is set to take place between June 26 -30, 2024, and it will be held at the Eavis Worth Farm in Pilton, South West England. Now Glastonbury is known as the "Grandaddy of UK music festivals", and since its humble routes were similar to that of a hippie festival when it started out, it now welcomes 210,000 crowdgoers, and before the lineup was even announced the tickets were sold out for the 2024 show. Isn't that crazy?! With all of the concertgoers, there are thousands of tents on site. Of course, this is the way to do a proper festival in the UK and by camping you do really get the true experience! You can opt for the Glamping pitches where tents are provided for a fee, however, most people bring their own and sadly do leave them there afterward, so there is a big clean-up event. For me attending a festival is all about the experience. When I attended, I used the glamping facility for cleaner toilets and a pre-set-up tent, which allowed me to enjoy the festival more. Sadly, as I am in Korea now I won't be attending this year's festival, though I will be watching the highlights afterward! I strongly believe that this famous UK festival will help SEVENTEEN become more successful in the UK and Europe as it will propel them into UK households as most UK citizens watch Glastonbury as it is streamed on various TV networks including the BBC! I think the number of songs on the album is good, and I cannot wait to listen to them all! The eclectic images published for "Give Me That" show the members of Wayv in various decorations, ranging from futuristic scenes to natural landscapes. Now in terms of the song, I think that the vocals sound great in the teaser video and I think that it was also nice to hear Hendery sing for a bit as well, which has not been done in the past as much. WayV's return with "Give Me That" , which dropped on June 3, 2024 has already received great feedback. In my opinion I think the video is described as a Pop R&B piece combining a luminous guitar riff and a bass 808 lived up to the hype. The lyrics depict a romantic moonlight ride with a loved one. As you can see from one of the teaser posters, the new image portrays a dark and gothic style concept, which I think fits well with the mini album title "Ride Or Die" and I think that this concept will give the group an edge in terms of style and giving the group some unique qualities. Now this album will be the third mini album by EVNNE, and the physical album will be available in nine different versions. "Dare" , "Truth" , and seven individual digipacks. Daegu's 2024 Craft Beer Festival is almost here! It will be held between June 14th - 16th at Suseong Lake in Daegu and we're all about covering it! Follow Dojeon Media team member, Lewis, as he introduces local brews! I attended the 2023 festival and was amazed by the variety of locally and nationally brewed beers, as well as the wide selection of local food stalls at the event. For me, craft beer is not my usual go-to drink, however, by the end of the event my eyes were opened. This year you can expect over 120 types of domestic and international craft beers , live performances, and food from different countries, which everyone can enjoy together. Having lived in Daegu for several years, I have to say that this festival brings travelers, locals, and foreign residents together, as everyone has a good time with Korean and international music. Last year, I tried a watermelon craft beer and with the summer heat in Daegu, it was so refreshing! I hope that I can try something similar again this year! The event held both Korean and international singers and the atmosphere was really something special, especially once the sun went down and the stage lights came on. Not only can you experience beers and delicious food, but you will also have the iconic lakeside of Suesongmot Lake behind you! The 2024 Daegu Craft Beer Festival is being held in the afternoon and early evening it is a family-friendly event, and I do suggest taking the whole family with you. W ithout a doubt, it had been the most memorable event last year in Daegu for me. Not only did I stay longer than I initially planned, but I also had an amazing time – an unexpected yet welcome surprise, which I cannot wait to repeat this year! We don't know about you, but we're mega excited for Kep1er's new music video "Shooting Star" ! We think the title ''Shooting Star'' makes it feel fresh and futuristic, and many fans have taken to social media and said the same! Let's take a look! Reminiscent of the title "Shooting Star," the released video intersects the shining stars and meteors, and the shining visuals of each member, giving a strong impact. In particular, the shape of two hands surrounded by light appeared, raising questions about the full version of the music video, which was hidden under the veil. but soon to be released. If you ask us, we think the hush-hush over the music video creates more excitement so we think they are doing it right. Let's check out the teaser below! We think the girls hit the spot in terms of their dance moves and concept, as it was simple but elegant and left us wanting more! We did however notice that there seemed to be too many members in the group, and although there were close-up shots of each member, we don't think we would recognize any of them if they passed us on the street. We did think that the red and black backdrops made the girls look elegant and it gave the music video an edge over their competitors ones that we have recently seen. However, lyrically, we think the song could have had more meaning behind it to keep us listening for longer. After watching the video, we stand by there being too many members in the band, however, we did think the choreography and beat worked well together with the girls' dance moves, though it has already been done before right?
