The highly popular drone show attracts thousands of visitors from around the country and world each weekend, and since it's FREE, there is no reason why you should not attend yourself! For me, the event is impressive, due to the size of the drones and the amount of drones that are used, somewhere in the region of 2,000! As a modern alternative to fireworks, I think that it is really impressive with the creations that can be done with drones. I did attend the 2023-24 New Year's Eve show, and though it was postponed the show the day after was amazing! Traveling to a new city or country is exciting! And what better way to experience it than through that of a local? Dojeon team member, Lewis, shows you how to get away from the hustle and bustle of Seoul's hectic daily life like a true Seoulite! I first discovered Yeouido Park in 2020, having moved to Seoul from the UK, and I was taken aback at how many locals headed to the park, especially on the weekend to relax, unwind, and just simply have a good time! Right on one of the main subway lines, this riverside park has become much more than simply a park over the years. Usually, when I head to the park, it's to experience the beautiful sunset over the Han River . Here, you can rent blankets, tables, mood lights, and anything you might need, from street vendors. During the peak times of the year, you will also be able to see many food stalls, and you can even order food directly from your spot in the park! For me, I like heading to the convenience store which is located on a boat. There you can buy ramen, snacks, beer, and many other drinks! Koreans have seen an increase in furry companionship over the last decade as more dog cafes and pet stores are becoming more common! It is no wonder that the Daegu Pet Festival is one of the biggest shows for your four-legged friend in South Korea! We cover everything you need to know to get ready for an amazing experience! From May 10 - 12, 2024 the Daegu Pet Festival will be held at the Expo Center in Daegu, now I for one will be attending, and I have already started to count down the days! A pet lover myself, and proud dog dad of three Korean rescue dogs, I am hoping that this pet festival will help me out! Sadly, I was unable to visit the 2023 expo, although I heard great things from my friends about it as it is Korea's largest pet show! Throughout the event based on last year, there will be an estimated 5000 - 20,000 visitors, and between 100-500 exhibitions from around the world. I am hoping to find some exciting new products to use on my dogs I have also been told that the during the event, there will be competitions, onsite vets, and pet shows! Of course, this is also a cat show, so if you have a feline friend, be sure to bring them along with you. We finally get to see all the people she has touched throughout the years and the goodness she has instilled within her community! The takedown of evil congressman Kim Joon was so satisfying! Equally satisfying to watch was the epic teamwork takedown of the K-drama cliché evil congressman Kim Joon ( Park Hyuk Kwon A Time Called You 2023! On the same night, Eun Soo Hyun is protesting for justice for her son, video evidence gathered by both Kwon Seon Yul ( Cha Eun Woo ) and her husband Kang Soo Ho ( Kim Kang Woo ) as they secretly worked together to bring down the power-hungry congressman! We finally see the planning between the two planting hard video evidence to capture Kim Joon's evildoings. Kang Soo Ho, accused by his wife of being a terrible father and betraying her trust for joining sides with the enemy, finally redeems himself by revealing all the dirty deeds Kim Joon has plotted to move up the political ladder through a live news broadcast. Cha Eun Woo has matured in front of our eyes! South Korea is rich in history and culture. But there is one place you must go to whenever you visit Seoul to actually understand and feel what it's really like to be "Korean". The Seoul War Museum, without question, should be on your bucket list of places to visit when you travel to Seoul! We take you through why this isn't your ordinary "boring" museum! Korea has such a long and rich history and culture, which can be experienced at this museum. Typically museums can be boring and not to everyone's taste, however Seoul War Museum is so much more than a boring museum. It's interactive, interesting, and fun for all ages! I have been to the museum about four times, since moving to Korea in 2020, and I experience something new each time. One of the impressive factors about this museum is the outside section. Here you are able to walk around real tanks, boats, and planes that are decommissioned. The scale of these vehicles puts into perspective how scary they would have been for people when they were used in the war! Of course, outside there is a tribute to the Korean War, and though it is still technically ongoing it made me take a moment to reflect on how symbolic the memorial and statues are. Inside the museum, you can lose your thoughts in many exhibits from different points in history, and learn firsthand about the events that took place. I recommend visiting the Seoul History Museum when you are in Seoul; it is a place that I would definitely go back to! The sound of eating and watching other people eat might drive some people crazy, however for a while in Korea it has been a highly profitable and popular sensory experience. We break down why this phenomenon of watching others eating copious amounts of savory foods has continued to capture popular culture and our team member, Lewis, shares his mukbang experience! Originating in Korea, people started to film themselves eating, for others to watch. Over the years, it has been considered entertainment by many people in Korea, and with the rise in social media, more and more people have been taking part and filming their own mukbangs. The term "mukbang" originates from two words "muk" (to eat 먹다) and "bang" (to broadcast 방송). Social Interaction Mukbangs allow people to communicate with each other through watching and commenting on videos together, or perhaps directly with the streamer through live videos. For many Koreans, it's common to eat alone, so interaction with other people from the comfort of their own homes or offices has become a comfortable solution. Appealing Food A mukbang video without appealing food is just like watching a movie with no story to it. Without the appetizing food that people will see, they might not be interested in watching or creating a mukbang video on social media. With all the good-looking and delicious food out there, some mukbang videos become viral because of the food itself, which of course is good news for the streamer. Now based on the two main reasons above as to why mukbangs are popular, I have actually taken part in two myself. For me, I was recited as I had heard many Koreans talk about watching them, and although it felt strange being recorded eating at first, I easily got into the swing of things! The first mukbang that I did was at QooQoo all you can eat seafood buffet in Sangam. The selection of seafood and meat was incredible, and I would recommend making a reservation and heading there yourself! The second was in Hongdae at an all-you-can-eat tteotbokki and fish cake restaurant. This was perfect during the winter months, and the selection of food was varied and good quality!
