Even with millions of followers and sold out concerts, the stigma of staying relevant but also authentic to Korea is a challenge, though some celebrities have managed to keep it really despite their superstar status. He has showed has he can embrace global fame without abandoning his deep local and traditional Korean route. He has even won an Emmy for being the first Asian Lead Actor to win in a drama, and he kept his speech short and sweet ending it with a few words in Korean. He did later joke about how he had to practice and learn the English lines ahead of making a speech at the event. Despite many Hollywood opportunities he has continued to accept different types of Korean roles, lending his talent to Korean films and he has even directed a film called Hunt . What opportunities will he have in the future to promote Korea? Our Thoughts Although the perfect Korean celebrity image can change depending on the celebrities interactions, and careers, it is true that adapting to a global identity, and finding organic ways to express both tradition and open-mindedness is key, in addition to maintaining a tricky balance. Hannam-dong in Seoul is notorious for being the most expensive area in the country, and rightly so, with gated communities such as "The Hill" where it's been rumored that BTS has properties. Dojeon team member, Lewis, recently visited this exclusive area and this is what he found! Hannam screams everything to do with luxury! From houses, and cars, to even coffee shops and restaurants. So when I visited, of course, I expected to pay a premium for things, as well as being able to see a vast amount of wealthy people. Also, BTS has been rumored to have a residence in the Hills. In the UK, some wealthy people like to show off their fortune, whether that be through the clothes that they are wearing, or the car that they are driving, though it does not happen that often. Perhaps it is the British being polite and not too fussed about designer items. In Hannam this was quite the opposite. I figured that in the past, since Korea used to be a poor country not so long ago if people have wealth now they show it off, and why not? There were many well dressed people, and so many expensive cars around the area. The area of Hannam itself is an area within Yongsan , so it is close to Itaewon . Being right across the river from the Gangnam area of Seoul and its proximity to locations in northern Seoul makes the neighborhood centrally located in Seoul. Many celebrities and executives live in three well-known residential areas in the neighborhood. The main purpose of my visiting this area was to walk around to check out some exclusive residences, and take in the area itself. Although I lived in Seoul for over 2 years, it is not an area that I have been to that often, apart from when I first arrived back in 2020. I did find many amazing coffee shops and restaurants in the area, and I have to say that they were reasonably priced for the area. I did stop at one restaurant during lunch time and I had a really good meal with my friend. The area is very similar to other areas of Seoul that I have visited in the past, and since this area is close to Itaewon, it is very hilly, so I would recommend wearing some comfortable shoes when you visit the area! I definitely, recommend visiting this area when you are in Seoul, especially if you want to experience the glitz and glamour, similar to what you can imagine to be able to experience in LA. Super Junior is back to mark their 19th anniversary! And they have kicked off their summer party in the music video "Show Time" . Let's break down the M/V teaser and everything you need to know for their upcoming release! Let's check out the teaser below! The teaser video was cool, with the behind-the-scenes take at the start. It felt like we got to know a more real side of the band, and it showed them on a fun level almost that of being on a talk show. The beat I thought was a good fit as well so lyrically I am looking forward to the release ahead of the hot and humid Korean summer. So for the 2024 embarkment, the boys will be holding concerts kicking off at the "Super show spin off halftime" which will be held between the dates of June 22 - 23, 2024 at the KSPO Dome , and then continuing through Asia. Let's check out their full new music video below! "Show Time" was released on June 11 at 6 PM KST , marking Super Junior's return with new music after a year and seven months. I have to say that the video exceeded my expectations, from the boys' outfits, and dance routines but more importantly their singing ability. I enjoyed the opening part where there was one member singing and it seemed to annoy some people due to it being too loud, I thought that this playfulness was great. I also really liked that the concept was showing the boys on a TV show setting without the cameras rolling at the start and instead getting ready to perform, as it is something that the viewers do not often get to see. Some minor rap parts on the song as well were really good as I thought it showed a more diverse side to the band which can make them stand out as well as the English lyrics that were used on and off throughout the song to help them appear to a Western audience rather than just a domestic Korean audience. This year’s The Fact Music Awards (TMA) have ended! We have all the details on who won and thoughts! The 2024 The Fact Music Award s, was held between September 7th and 8th in Osaka Japan. The awards were for exceptional artists, and the fact’s 10th anniversary’ to move beyond Korea to Japan to become a truly global K-POP festival, which meant it was more exciting for fans! This event is also considered as one of K-pop's most loved award shows, the TMA honors the best K-pop songs, albums, and artists of the year. Aespa won this year’s Daesang Grand Prize, making them the first female artist to win this award.
