Just as Ju Yeon is about to deliver the killing blow, her boyfriend, Jeong Min ( Kim Nam Gil from Island ), arrives. Jeong Min doesn't physically restrain her but pleads with her: "Think about everything you've endured. You shouldn't ruin your life over scum like him." In stark contrast to the pervasive violence in Karma , Ju Yeon chooses a different path. She walks away from Beom Jun, and in that act, finds a measure of peace. Later, when the private detective brings evidence confirming Beom Jun's true identity, Ju Yeon refuses to look, a final step towards moving on from the trauma of the past weeks. Karma's Ending: What Are We to Make of It? In Karma, the characters' actions lead to their downfall. Yu Jeong, Beom Jun, and Jae Yeong are all complicit in the sexual assault of a young Ju Yeon, and their lives are subsequently driven by self-interest. Sang Hoon, similarly, prioritizes his reputation over the well-being of others. Gil Ryong presents a more complex case. While arguably the most morally conflicted of those who suffer, he faces limited options due to the racism he experiences as a Korean-Chinese man in Korea. His willingness to murder Dong Sik, however, makes him culpable. Karma can be interpreted through both secular and religious lenses. The secular perspective emphasizes social interconnectedness, where our actions inevitably affect others, and the consequences can resemble karmic retribution. The series also allows for a religious interpretation, much like the recent Korean film Revelations. Before his death, Dong Sik prays for forgiveness for his son's sins. He offers his own life as a sacrifice, and his subsequent murder precipitates the suffering and deaths of five sinners, including Jae Yeong. Spring is finally here after a long and cold depressing winter. So what better time than to visit Dojeon's café of the month? Filled with delicious treats and drinks with cute little bears, what better way to spend a relaxing cool Spring afternoon at this café? Image: Outside of Teddy's Oven Seoul - Lewis Hooper Teddy's Oven is a picturesque café in Seoul that is perfect for influencers and tourists alike, which is why it has been selected as Dojeon's Café of the Month for April 2025. Teddy's Oven Seoul - Lewis Hooper If you've ever visited Seoul Forest , you might well remember seeing Teddy's Oven on your way. As can be inferred from the cozy building design and café name, the inside of the café and its menus also boast an adorable charm. Every single teddy bear themed dessert menu of Teddy's Oven is delicious, and are also perfect for taking out if you're heading out for a picnic at Seoul Forest. Being a big Harry Potter fan myself, the staircase reminded me of the films I used to watch as a kid, with the magic staircase being shown throughout some of the magical films. It was a sense of nostalgia, and made me feel me want to spend longer in the café. Donning the streets of Seoul, as well as being one of the most popular cafes at Seoul Forest, Teddy's Oven stands out in a light yellow and very pretty two story building. The café is known to specialize in French homestyle baking, and it offers an extensive selection of quiche, pavlova, cookies as well as many more! Right from the offset the luxurious wooden floors and sky blue walls showcased the simplicity yet sophisticated style of this café, making customers feels as if they are inside a European home, or even their own home. It's said that most of the furniture has been imported from Paris, making that European feeling more real. Teddy's Oven Seoul - Lewis Hooper When I visited the caf é , I chose to sit outside because the seating and décor was just amazing and worth being around! The snacks and pastries themselves are actually themed around bears, whether in shape or with an included teddy graham cracker, and there is a bit less emphasis on teddy interior décor than Teddy Beurre House. Blankets are provided for those opting to sit outside as well, which makes this place feel even more special and worth spending a little more on. Being in a prime spot in the mega city of Seoul, the menu items can be a little expensive compared to other coffee shops or cafes in the area, however that said, it is definitely worth a visit. Known as the “ Festival of Breaking the Fast ,” it’s the time when Muslims around the world celebrate with gratitude, prayer, sweets, and… honestly, probably a nap or two. In Korea, the vibes were extra special, a mix of Korean hospitality and Islamic traditions, blending into a multicultural, sweet-filled celebration. ● What Happens During Eid? Besides dressing up like it’s the Met Gala for your grandma’s living room, here’s what goes down: ▪︎ Early morning prayers in congregations at mosques or open fields ▪︎ Giving charity (called Zakat al-Fitr) to support those in need ▪︎ Sharing delicious meals with family, friends, and neighbors (and yes, there’s always that one uncle who brings too much food) ▪︎ Exchanging greetings like: Eid greetings ● Moon or Saturn?
