The holiday season and winter are all about feel-good comfort food. The team at Dojeon has found the perfect restaurant for this cold magical month. Read on for all the delicious mouth-watering details! There are without a doubt there is not a shortage of restaurants to visit in Seoul, however Gaesong Traditional Dumpling House Koong is a specialist dumpling restaurant that has been open in Insa-dong for over thirty years, and therefore it is not to be missed! The restaurants Gaesong style dumpling are big with thin dumpling skins that show the inside of the dumplings. A great thing is the dumplings stuffing's, which contain a mixture of tofu, pork, cabbage, mung bean sprouts and garlic, some of which are packed with broth. I have to say that I found the chewiness of the dumplings are charming in itself. I also found that the artisan-made dumplings which were displayed by the window of the restaurant made it inviting and it offered a feel of home-cooked nostalgia. The dumpling hot pot with light dumplings and a simple soup with peanut-shaped rice cakes were also very popular menu items when I visited. These were some of the freshest and best flavors that I have ever tasted in a dumpling, and they were worth the wait! - Coffee Su Industry: Dojeon's Summer Café You Won't BELIEVE Why This Seoul Coffee Shop is Taking Over the Coffee Scene!
Spotlight summer brews and beyond! Join Dojeon team member, Lewis, as he uncovers why this specialty café is taking over Seoul's summer coffee scene! Image: Coffee Su Industry Seoul - Photo: Lewis Hooper Step back in time Coffee Su Industry , located right in the heart of Seoul (a one-minute walk from Exit 1 of Euljiro 3-ga Station), offers a step back in time, serving a classy selection of coffees, specialty drinks, and timeless charm that reminds us of a Soviet 1980s coffee shop. The café is located down a small alleyway, which I walked past first of all, until I looped around and realized I needed to walk down the alley. The alley is impressive, as it is filled with murals full of artwork, which add to the charm and character of the café. As I stepped inside, the warm, rich aroma of freshly brewing coffee and the friendly smiles welcomed me. Once, I had selected my drink (a cinnamon americano), beyond the counter were beautifully displayed coffee filters, which were each displayed with their origin, classic ceramic cups, and stunning artwork, which made me feel so good inside. Image: Coffee Su Industry Seoul - Photo: Lewis Hooper Image: Coffee Su Industry Seoul - Photo: Lewis Hooper Image: Coffee Su Industry Seoul - Photo: Lewis Hooper The narrow staircase inside the café transformed me, as if I were stepping back into a different period with each step I took, and the café offered different seating zones. I opted to sit across the alley on the second floor, and I was happy with my decision! The seating was a classic selection of vintage chairs and comfy sofas, and each piece felt as if it had its own story to tell, even down to the upholstered in floral patterns that faded with time. I chose a cozy corner booth, its banquette seat covered in a rich, burgundy leather that creaked softly as I settled in. The dim, warm light from a nearby antique lamp cast long shadows, highlighting the subtle imperfections and character of the furniture. Which, for me, made the visit even more worthwhile, as compared to some of the other cafes and chain coffee shops in the area, this place felt just perfect. Not only was it off the beaten track, but it also had charm and stories to tell in its down-to-earth way. Image: Coffee Su Industry Seoul - Photo: Lewis Hooper Image: Coffee Su Industry Seoul - Photo: Lewis Hooper The artwork and the vintage furniture worked well together, and it felt like the collections were carefully curated, leading to a very relaxing atmosphere for me to enjoy my coffee! The prices in the café were also very reasonable, and similar to those of a coffee shop chain. I paid 7,000 KRW (USD 5.10) for my iced cinnamon americano, and it was worth every penny! Coffee Su Industry has earned Dojeon's café of the month for June , simply through its collection of unique storytelling artwork and furniture, which transports you to the past, leading to an all-around great experience in the heart of Seoul. Finally, its thoughtful blend of nostalgic charm and subtle contemporary touches offers a refreshing and authentic café experience that stands out from more generic establishments.
