MANILA, Philippines – The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines and Trunk Theatre Project successfully staged “Cookies, Ann, Cream” on October 13 and 14, 2026, bringing a unique form of Korean performing arts through puppet and object theater.

The performances were made possible through the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea (MCST), K-Touring Arts, the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, and the Korean Polar Research Institute (KOPRI).

The performance follows Ann on her journey through Antarctica’s white nights in search of meteorites. Along the way, she encounters nonhuman beings and unexpected companions who offer new perspectives on life, turning her expedition into an adventure filled with meaningful discoveries.

“Cookies, Ann, Cream” was presented by Korean performing arts company Trunk Theatre Project, which received the 2024 3rd Seoul Arts Awards – Porsche Frontier Award for Theatre.

Beyond exploration on stage, the production offered audiences a more interactive experience through a special workshop held on the second and final day of the Manila performances. Led by “Cookies, Ann, Cream” director and writer Cho Ye-eun, the workshop gave participants the opportunity to engage with the performers and create their own personalized puppets.

Participants also learned how to bring their puppets to life through movement and took part in a fun meteorite hunt among the pile of snow–recreating Ann’s own exploration of Antarctica.

The staging of “Cookies, Ann, Cream” is another initiative of KCC’s continuing efforts to introduce Korean culture to Filipino audiences by offering opportunities to experience diverse forms of artistic expression.

“After several exhibitions, KCC brought a puppet and object theater performance by Trunk Theatre Project to the Philippines to give Filipinos the opportunity to experience a different form of Korean performing arts,” KCC Director Kim Myeongjin said.
