"Supernova Love" is a collaborative new single with K-pop group IVE and world renowned DJ David Guetta. We give our thoughts on the new emotional single and what fans are saying! K-girl group IVE have just dropped their new single on November 8th 2024, "Supernova Love" which features world renowned French DJ David Guetta. The collaboration comes after many Korean artists are aiming to collaborate with Western artists in a bid to become globally recognized and gain a larger fan base outside of Korea. Let's check out the official video! Our review This single has a deep emotional mood and a very catchy K-pop melody from IVE. Even in terms of camera angles, dress concept and visuals which have been added onto the video, the space theme is vibrant throughout. You may have recognized some of the tune as the iconic soundtrack "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" from Ryuichi Sakamoto is also prominent in the background, which gives this new single an edge. The music video shortens the song by about a minute, but even in its extended iteration "Supernova Love" doesn’t take advantage of the best aspects of dance music. Rather than ebb and flow and build to glorious peaks, it simply bops along with limited ideas. The celestial production is quite satisfying as an idea, but IVE’s individual quirks get lost in the mix. Rather than sounding elusive or mysterious, they simply come across as bored and copy/pasted onto the beat. A gutsier performance during the verses would have countered the layered chorus and resulted in a more engaging set of textures. This is a definite improvement over "All Night", yet succumbs to many of the same issues. IVE have too much star power to sound this flat and robotic through the use of AI . Fan reactions! Is the K-pop industry in trouble? One of the biggest companies in K-pop, SM Entertainment, has reported a massive decrease in profits this year. What is happening to the K-pop industry's entertainment giant? We explain! Recently on November 5, 2024, SM Entertainment released its third-quarter financial results to the public, which reported a revenue of 242.2 billion KRW and an opening profit of 13.3 billion KRW. This has however fallen by 9% compared to the same period last year, and an operating decreased profit by 73.6%. There are factors as to why it is lower, some of them are lower album sales and a decline in sales from major affiliates, and it has also been reported that it is lower due to affiliate revenue and the production costs for SM's first UK boy group DEAR ALICE . How can such a well-known K-pop machine like SM accumulate losses? Looking ahead to the fourth quarter and into early next year, SM Entertainment has planned a series of activities for their artists. This includes a new girl group, which will be the first seen since Aespa , who debuted five years ago. Aespa has also been thriving, with the release of their member solo singles from their recent concerts and their mini album Whiplash  on October 21st, which has been warmly received. This year, they have maintained their number-one streak with relay hits starting with "Supernova".  Let's check out this video! This expansion will help roadmap new IPS such as Riize and NCT Wish . Winter has hit, and the temperatures have become colder, so what better way to fill up and keep warm than visiting Tongkeun Galbi in Seoul? This wonderful restaurant chain boasts excellent pork galbi (marinated pork ribs) with a ton of side dishes! Read on to find out why it has made our "Restaurant of the Month"! This restaurant chain is located in Sinchon and Hongdae , and it is the place to go if you want something besides samgyupsal. I have to say that I have never been disappointed whenever I have visited. The pork galbi was not only delicious but also particularly huge, and the flavors were slightly sweet (like most Korean food) due to the marinate. Having said that, it is not heavy and it does not make you feel greasy which other BBQs sometimes do. If you visit, I also highly recommend the steamed eggs, which are definitely worth the extra 2,000 won! Lunch is served! They also have a lunch set menu as well. Normally, you eat the pork galbi until you're almost full and order the beef galbi or samgyupsal separately, and this meal would not be complete without some Sochu. The side dishes options are very diverse: there is spaghetti and rice for complimentary service. If you would like to eat different types of sides and meat, you must come here for the BBQ !
