This all began when, on September 15, 2024, Soobin from TOMORROW X TOGETHER shared a concerning update on Weverse about his health struggles. He revealed that he was experiencing extreme fatigue, so severe that eating had become a challenge. “Passing out, I’m so tired… I don’t even have the energy to swallow food so I only ate half of it. For starters, I’ll wash up and be back. I might not be back either…” Soobin’s candid message, paired with a photo of him resting, quickly caught the attention of fans. The issue of overwork is not isolated to TXT alone. Recently, other artists have also been affected by health issues linked to their intense schedules. Beomgyu from TXT sustained an ankle ligament injury during activities. ILLIT’s Wonhee suffered an ankle injury while filming content. NewJeans' Hyein experienced a microfracture in her foot, and Katseye's Daniela also faced an injury. This growing pattern of health issues among idols highlights the broader problem within HYBE’s management practices. Historically, groups had fewer comebacks per year, but the current trend has increased stress and exhaustion. Hannam-dong in Seoul is notorious for being the most expensive area in the country, and rightly so, with gated communities such as "The Hill" where it's been rumored that BTS has properties. Dojeon team member, Lewis, recently visited this exclusive area and this is what he found! Hannam screams everything to do with luxury! From houses, and cars, to even coffee shops and restaurants. So when I visited, of course, I expected to pay a premium for things, as well as being able to see a vast amount of wealthy people. Also, BTS has been rumored to have a residence in the Hills. In the UK, some wealthy people like to show off their fortune, whether that be through the clothes that they are wearing, or the car that they are driving, though it does not happen that often. Perhaps it is the British being polite and not too fussed about designer items. In Hannam this was quite the opposite. I figured that in the past, since Korea used to be a poor country not so long ago if people have wealth now they show it off, and why not? There were many well dressed people, and so many expensive cars around the area. The area of Hannam itself is an area within Yongsan , so it is close to Itaewon . Being right across the river from the Gangnam area of Seoul and its proximity to locations in northern Seoul makes the neighborhood centrally located in Seoul. Many celebrities and executives live in three well-known residential areas in the neighborhood. The main purpose of my visiting this area was to walk around to check out some exclusive residences, and take in the area itself. Although I lived in Seoul for over 2 years, it is not an area that I have been to that often, apart from when I first arrived back in 2020. I did find many amazing coffee shops and restaurants in the area, and I have to say that they were reasonably priced for the area. I did stop at one restaurant during lunch time and I had a really good meal with my friend. The area is very similar to other areas of Seoul that I have visited in the past, and since this area is close to Itaewon, it is very hilly, so I would recommend wearing some comfortable shoes when you visit the area! I definitely, recommend visiting this area when you are in Seoul, especially if you want to experience the glitz and glamour, similar to what you can imagine to be able to experience in LA. The photo, uploaded by an Instagram account, showed people who looked like V and Jennie in a car. V is driving and Jennie is beside him. Some fans argued that the picture was edited, while others insisted that it is raw footage. In a recent survey, data have shown that US album sales for K-pop music are perhaps losing their spark among young fans. This has triggered a hot debate within the K-pop industry, and it has left many asking if the K-pop push into the Western market is perhaps hitting a snag, or whether or not fans are changing how they decide to engage with their favorite K-pop idols. From January to April this year, K-pop album sales have seen a downward spiral for the first time, as only 23.4 million albums were sold, a massive 26% drop compared to the same time last year. This now marks a two-year milestone in sales dropping, since the peak in 2023, where 32.7 million units were sold. Due to the recent cost of living crisis. K-pop fans are changing their spending habits. Even with album sales dipping, big Korean entertainment companies are making more money, thanks to a boom in overseas concerts. The industry should now focus on creating fresh content that offers new sights and sounds for fans, in a new bid to retain K-pop fans and steady their income and profits. Where Are the New K-Pop Global Hits? New K-pop global mega-hits were missing from the charts over the past year, which could also be a reason for the reduction in K-pop sales in the US. Out of Spotify's top 2,500 most-streamed songs worldwide last year, only 25 were K-pop tracks. Even then, BTS dominated the list with 16 songs, and BLACKPINK followed with nine, counting both group and solo releases. This means fresh K-pop tracks struggled to break into the top ranks, due to being less known and represented outside of their native Korea, and also having to compete with US household names. Did Internal Drama Hurt Sales? The ongoing drama between former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and HYBE executives concerning NewJeans  is also being eyed as a factor impacting album sales. This is because public opinion on this matter among K-pop fans globally was very intense. Money talks, and people have too much going on in their own lives to get involved with the pettiness of NewJeans and Min Hee Jin. The very public dispute shined a light on issues like intense competition for first-week sales, fans buying huge amounts of albums just for signing events, and over-the-top album release strategies. This has led to a more cautious approach to marketing across the industry. Can K-pop Bounce Back And Save Its US Following? Good news for K-pop fans worldwide! Despite the recent dip in album sales, mainly in the US, the second half of the year could see a major comeback.
