BTS’ "ARIRANG" Tour Makes Billboard History, Surpassing The Rolling Stones

BTS is back, and apparently, breaking records is still very much part of the plan. The K-pop supergroup has officially surpassed a major Billboard Boxscore record previously held by The Rolling Stones, thanks to the massive success of its ongoing ARIRANG world tour. According to Billboard, BTS earned a huge $127.8 million from 12 concerts between May 2 and May 28, selling around 641,000 tickets during the month. That makes it the biggest monthly gross by a group since Billboard's monthly Boxscore tracking began in 2019.

And here is where things get seriously impressive. The previous record belonged to legendary rock band The Rolling Stones, who earned $95 million from their August 2019 shows. BTS didn't just edge past the number- they beat it by about 35%.

Basically, the seven-year record did not survive the BTS comeback. The group's May numbers were powered by stadium shows across the US and Mexico, including stops in El Paso, Stanford, Las Vegas and Mexico City. The Las Vegas shows were particularly huge, with four concerts at Allegiant Stadium bringing in about $49.5 million from 246,000 fans.

But the bigger story may be what happens next. The ARIRANG tour has already generated about $204 million overall, and there are still more than 60 shows remaining on the announced schedule. Billboard reported that the tour could potentially surpass BTS' previous career-best Love Yourself tour, which earned $213.9 million.

That means this record-breaking moment could end up being just one chapter of an even bigger touring story. The numbers also show just how much demand remains for BTS after its group hiatus. Fans didn't simply return; they turned stadiums into some of the biggest money-making stops on the touring calendar.

And now that BTS has moved past The Rolling Stones' benchmark, the obvious question is: what record is next? With months of touring still ahead, ARMY might want to keep watching those Billboard numbers. BTS clearly isn't done making history yet.
