Beyond the Bar is a legal K-drama that aired from late August to early September 2025 on JTBC. Episodes were also streaming weekly on Netflix.
The story follows rookie lawyer Kang Hyo-min, played by Jung Chae-Yeon. She takes on high-pressure cases under the guidance of senior lawyer Yoon Seok-Hoon, portrayed by Lee Jin-Wook.
Across 12 episodes, viewers watched Hyo-min grow into a confident lawyer while Seok-Hoon slowly confronted his past. The drama’s strong ratings peaked at over 10 per cent in Seoul, and it entered Netflix’s Top 10 non-English shows in more than 40 countries.

How the Show Ends and Why It Hurts
The finale wrapped up the major legal battle with Yullim Law Firm winning against a fraudulent acquisition. Justice was restored, and Hyo-min proved her strength as a lawyer.
Seok-Hoon also confronted his wounds, showing more vulnerability than ever. Meanwhile, Jin-Woo and Min-Jeong got a sweet conclusion, ending with a proposal that warmed fans’ hearts.
But the main romance left everyone stunned. In a heartfelt scene, Hyo-min asked Seok-Hoon what love meant to him. Just as he began to answer with, “To me, love is…” the screen cut to black.
Fans were left hanging, frustrated, and desperate for the truth of his confession.
