The vocalists behind the hit Netflix soundtrack made their U.S. television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Here's how it went and how it went viral on the internet!
Kpop Demon Hunters on The Tonight Show
Kpop Demon Hunters has literally taken over both Asian and Western markets, due to the easy-to-follow storyline and catchy songs. Not to mention the amount of trending dance and singing videos on the internet, it has found a soft spot among many fans.
When the Dojeon team heard that the vocalists of the movie were going to appear on The Tonight Show, we had to double-check! This show attracts a massive US-based audience, and it has a strong international following as well, which made this guest appearance the perfect marketing moment for the singers.
K-pop music has come a long way, and having watched the guest appearance, the energy and crowd reaction were amazing! This show may have cemented their place as a K-pop group and a strong competitor within the industry, thanks to the movie and the show! This is a huge win for the soundtrack and the whole Netflix series, proving that K-pop truly is the sound of the future!
The song "Golden" & the performance
The hit song by the movie's K-pop group, HUNTR/X, "Golden", has been a smash hit online as well as in the movie, and on The Tonight Show, it was the first-ever full live performance, driving over 18 million views on YouTube, which left goosebumps on some of the team! This song has also been a global sensation, reaching number one on major charts like the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to the blend of English and Korean lyrics.
The live debut was a full spectacle, as it showcased their seamless harmonies and powerful vocals, and amazing stage presence, which included all of the visuals from the movie that we all know and love. These girls really do have the characteristics of their on-screen characters!
The interviewers and outstanding award
The interviews with the members EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami from the film was nothing short of amazing as it hit an astonishing 36 million views on YouTube! The members shared their own individual stories, which let the audience get to know them, as since before the movie they were not really well known.
EJAE recounted a Korean myth where she saw a ghost while recording (which she did, a "grunge ghost") which helped her later in life write hit songs. Audrey Nuna became emotional during her interview, as she discussed a scene from the movie, which featured kimbap. This highlighting the powerful scene, really does help viewers get the feeling of seeing Korean culture represented in a positive and fun light, like it did for the star.
Having been presented with a very special Platinum plaque for the soundtrack in the movie which confirmed the groups monumental success. Jimmy Fallon for sure knows how to get the crowd on their feet and engaged with each guest, but the Dojeon team also thought that each member had their own unique and charismatic personality.
