With the return of baseball season, opening game tickets have experienced a surge in sales across both local and national audiences! We take you through our personal experience as we experience one of Korea's most popular sports!

National Pride and Passion
Baseball was introduced to Korea in the early 20th century, during a period of significant historical change. Its presence during the Japanese occupation, while complex, contributed to its spread.

Baseball has become more than just a sport; it's a social event. The energetic atmosphere of KBO League games, with their unique cheering cultures and passionate fans, creates a vibrant and engaging experience. The sport has also served as a source of national pride, particularly during international competitions like the Olympics and the World Baseball Classic.
This can ring true from this truly spectacular and very well-curated video, which helps inspire the next generation of baseball players!
Samsung Lions: My home team
Living in Daegu for the past five years, the Samsung Lions have become my home team, and in their 2024 season, their performance dramatically improved in comparison to previous years.
The 2025 KBO League season is sparking fervent anticipation in Daegu, as the Samsung Lions prepare to host the Kiwoom Heroes for their highly anticipated opening game at Samsung Lions Park on March 22nd. Following their return to the playoffs in 2024, the Lions, a team steeped in KBO history, are aiming to capitalize on their momentum, fueled by a blend of seasoned veterans and promising rookies, notably the addition of veteran right-hander Choi Won Tae to bolster their pitching rotation.

As the league introduces changes like a pitch clock and batter time limits to enhance game flow, the palpable excitement in Daegu underscores the deep-seated passion for baseball within Korean sports culture, with local fans eagerly rallying behind their beloved Lions.
Ticket cost
The affordability of Korean baseball tickets, averaging between 8,000 KRW and 15,000 KRW (USD 5.60 - 10.50) depending on the seat – a significant difference from prices in the US or Europe – contributes to their high demand. Consequently, tickets frequently sell out quickly. While purchasing tickets at the stadium on the day of the game is an option, securing them in advance is strongly advised, although you will need a Korean contact number and card to make a reservation online.
My Experience
My experience at a Korean baseball game has been absolutely exceptional. Before arriving in Korea, baseball was completely off my radar, so I was genuinely surprised to discover its significant following here. While the games can stretch over several hours, the atmosphere within the stadium is consistently incredible. The energy is infectious, fueled by exciting halftime crowd events and dynamic cheerleaders, each supporting individual players with their distinct chants. The sheer enthusiasm and immersion of the Korean fans are what make watching the game so enjoyable for me. It's an unforgettable experience I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone traveling to Korea!
