- Prosecutors in Trouble: South Korea Abolishes Its Prosecution Service
Prosecutors Face Uncertainty in South Korea’s Legal Reform South Korea is preparing for a significant overhaul of its criminal justice system. On September 26, 2025 , the National Assembly approved a historic bill to abolish the current Prosecution Service, which has been in existence for 78 years. This reform is set to take effect in October 2026 and could change how crimes are investigated and prosecuted. But what does this mean for prosecutors, and how will it affect the justice system? Why South Korea is Making This Change Right now, prosecutors in South Korea have both investigative and prosecutorial powers. They can start investigations and decide who goes to court. Critics argue this gives them too much control and even room for political influence. The reform, introduced under President Lee Jae Myung’s administration, aims to split these jobs. Investigating crimes and prosecuting people will now be done by different agencies, reducing abuse of power and increasing transparency South Korea's Constitutional Court (Credits: Koreaboo) What Will Replace the Prosecution Service The old Prosecution Service won’t exist, but prosecution itself isn’t going away. Instead, there will be two new agencies: Prosecution Office – This office will handle all court cases and decide on indictments. Serious Crimes Investigation Agency – This agency will investigate big crimes like corruption and economic offences. The idea is to make the justice system fairer and more organized. How Prosecutors and Lawyers Will Be Affected Prosecutors won’t lose their jobs, but their roles will change a lot. Many will move to one of the new agencies. Some of their old powers, like leading investigations, will be taken away. For lawyers, this change might affect how cases are handled. Evidence gathering will now be mostly done by the investigation agency, so lawyers may need new strategies in court. South Korean Court (Credits: Pinterest) What This Means for Justice in South Korea Supporters believe the reform could strengthen fairness, specialization, and accountability, while critics warn of potential politicization and confusion during the transition. The new system's success will depend on implementation and oversight, and the next few years will be critical to see if the goals of the reform are achieved. South Korea’s legal shake-up raises a big question for everyone: Will this change make the justice system fairer, or will it create new challenges for prosecutors and citizens? If you were a prosecutor in South Korea, would you feel uncertain about your future after this reform? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! #LawandReform #SouthKoreaNews #politicalsystem

He was also known for his appearance on We Got Married alongside actress Kim So Eun in 2014. - Kim Soo Hyun: Claims of Inappropriate Grooming Relationship Surface. Legal implications?
Allegations of underage dating surface against famous Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun! We take a look at the evidence and allegations as well as the legal implications this may have caused. Image: Actor Kim Soo Hyun - Photo from One Ordinary Day Drama. What happened? Kim Soo Hyun , starring in the hit series Queen of Tears , is facing escalating controversy following claims from Kim Sae Ron's family about a past relationship. These allegations, which suggest a relationship when Kim Sae Ron was a minor, have ignited public outrage and calls for Kim Soo Hyun's removal from the entertainment industry. The image was shared on Instagram. - Image: Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron. Evidence & Allegations The controversy began on March 10th when Kim Sae Ron's family, via HoverLab , asserted that she and Kim Soo Hyun had a six-year relationship beginning in 2016, when she was 15. They presented evidence including handwritten letters from Kim Soo Hyun during his military service and photos of him kissing her cheek. They also alleged that Gold Medalist pressured Kim Sae Ron to pay a 700 million won penalty related to her May 2022 drunk driving incident . Gold Medalist, co-owned by Kim Soo Hyun and his cousin Lee Sarang, countered on March 14th, stating the relationship occurred from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, after Kim Sae Ron had reached adulthood. Image: Kim Soo Hyun - Photo: Leaked by Garosero Research Institute Legal implications? The legal implications for Kim Soo Hyun hinge on the timing of the alleged relationship with Kim Sae Ron. South Korean law now criminalizes sexual acts with minors under 16, but this law was revised in 2020. As Kim Sae Ron was 15 in 2015, the pre-2020 law applies, which only criminalized sexual acts with minors under 13. Attorney Lee Go Eun clarifies that without concrete evidence of sexual acts, prosecution is unlikely, as simply having a relationship is insufficient under the older law. What has been the nature of fan reception to this widely publicized controversy? Final thoughts: The death of Kim Sae Ron, attributed to suicide and reportedly fueled by financial pressures involving Kim Soo Hyun, leaves a trail of unanswered questions. While Kim Soo Hyun's career is defined by his impressive body of work and widespread popularity, the circumstances surrounding this tragedy demand further scrutiny and reflection. Kim Soo Hyun, currently one of South Korea's highest-paid actors, rose to international fame through hit series like My Love From The Star (2013-14) and The Producers (2015), which earned him three Daesang (Grand Prize) awards. His extensive portfolio includes popular dramas such as Moon Embracing The Sun , Hotel Del Luna and I t's Okay To Not Be Okay . These allegations have sparked a lot of discussion. - From Seoul to Kuala Lumpur: The Growing Threat of Sinkholes Around the World
How could an entire SUV vanish into the ground in the blink of an eye? That was the bewildering scene that unfolded in central Seoul on Thursday morning (August 29, 2024) when a sinkhole suddenly appeared, swallowing a white SUV and leaving two elderly passengers injured. We also look into this global phenomenon that is not only happening in South Korea but in all parts of the world as well! The dramatic incident occurred around 11:20 a.m., as the vehicle was engulfed by a 2.5-meter (eight-foot) deep chasm that opened up without warning. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, rescuing the 82-year-old male driver and a 76-year-old female passenger. Both were taken to the hospital, and their current conditions are still being assessed. The incident has caused significant traffic disruptions in Seoul's Seodaemun district , where repair work and an investigation into the cause of the sinkhole are ongoing. Recent Sinkhole Incidents Around the World This Seoul incident is part of a worrying trend of sinkholes making headlines globally. Take a look. ● Malaysia: Just last week, a sinkhole in Kuala Lumpur swallowed a 48-year-old tourist from India. The pavement collapsed beneath her, and officials believe she may have been swept away by an underground water current. ● Japan: In 2016, a massive sinkhole opened up in Fukuoka, Japan . This sinkhole was 15 meters deep and 30 meters wide, tearing apart a major road. Remarkably, it was repaired within 48 hours thanks to an intensive engineering effort. The occurrence of large and small sinkholes serves as a stark reminder of the dynamic and sometimes unpredictable nature of our environment. As cities continue to grow and develop, understanding and mitigating the risks of sinkholes remains a critical challenge. What Caused the Sinkhole? Sinkholes are mysterious and can seem almost magical in their sudden appearance. But there’s a natural explanation behind these sudden ground collapses. Essentially, sinkholes happen when underground rocks dissolve over time due to the action of water. This process creates empty spaces underground. As the soil above these voids becomes unsupported, it can collapse, forming a sinkhole. Several factors contribute to sinkhole formation: Water Erosion : Water dissolves minerals in rocks, leaving behind empty spaces. When groundwater levels drop or fluctuate, these spaces can collapse. Groundwater Changes : Shifts in water levels—whether from heavy rain, drought, or human activities like pumping water from wells—can weaken the ground above. Human Activities : Activities such as drilling, construction, or even leaking sewer pipes can speed up the process of sinkhole formation by disturbing the soil or changing water flow patterns. Seasonal Changes : Extreme weather conditions, like heavy rainfall or drought, can also contribute to sinkhole formation by affecting groundwater levels. In this case, the exact cause of the sinkhole in Seoul is still under investigation, but a combination of these factors likely played a role. The incident highlights how sudden and dramatic these natural phenomena can be, as well as the importance of monitoring and maintaining urban infrastructure to prevent such occurrences. This incident is a stark reminder of the hidden forces at work beneath our cities and the need for vigilance in managing our environment and infrastructure. Sinkholes can be found all over the world, they show us how powerful and unpredictable nature can be. By understanding where they are likely to occur, we can better prepare and protect ourselves from their impacts. - BTS's Suga’s DUI Case — What actually happened? We have all the details!
BTS's Suga’s DUI case has recently caused much speculation and headlines, so what happened? We have all the details! BTS‘s Suga is under investigation for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) at the Yongsan Police Station on August 6, 2024 (KST) , when Suga operated his electric vehicle home as the latest developments are being reported. Suga had initially claimed to have only consumed one glass of beer, but the new evidence suggests otherwise. This revelation may lead to harsher punishments, including fines of up to 20 million KRW (approximately USD 17,000) or imprisonment for up to five years. Being 0.2 over the limit, is that really that high? What effects would that have had on his ability to drive the scooter? Probably not too much. The Yongsan Police Station has yet to decide whether to revoke Suga's license, which would result in a one-year suspension from driving. HYBE , BTS's management agency, has not commented on the report, but should they actually? What are their limits for protecting and representing the star? Should the star represent himself and take responsibility? Personally, I do not think it matters if you are a high-profile celebrity such as BTS' Suga or an ordinary citizen. The law is clear and although I disagree with these scooters being used on roads, I think it was a misjudgment by Suga. I believe that the singer should have just taken a taxi home. However, my question is that this would have never of come to light if a celebrity such as his ranking would have been caught in the act, instead of an ordinary citizen. Of course, the singer should face the same punishment regardless of his social ranking else it sets a bad precedent for the Government. (One rule for one, and one for another) I do think that half the time celebrity's think that they are above the law. Let us know your thoughts on this hot topic in the comments below. #Suga #HYBE #BTSnews #DUI

- 3 Reasons Why 'The Glory' Needs to be At the Top of Your Winter Drama Playlist!
Netflix 's original quiet revenge thriller The Glory has become one of our earlier top performances of 2023! The story of a physically and mentally abused high school girl who vows revenge on her bullies 20 years later has us sitting on the edge of our seats! Here are three reasons why The Glory should be at the top of your K-drama rotation! Premiering on December 30, 2022, a former victim of school violence, Moon Dong Eun ( Song Hye Kyo Descendants of the Sun 2016), takes revenge on her former bullies after taking a job as an elementary school teacher of her bully's child. Dong Eun spent her teenage years and 20s plotting her revenge plan to take out the bullies that took advantage of her by studying to become an elementary school teacher. Each activity and task she does goes toward to her plan, carefully planning each move, like a game of chess. After watching the first episode, you'll be hungry for more! 1. Song Hye Kyo has a dark side! Many of us know Song Hye Kyo from Descendants of the Sun where she works as a kind-hearted doctor who falls in love with a soldier. But after watching the first episode and eventually the rest of Part 1, we have found out that Song Hye Kyo definitely has a dark serious side that shows no emotion. Her character, Moon Dong Eun, has been so emotionally and physically scarred that she seems to have nothing left in her demeanor. When she hires her bully's housekeeper to aid her in her revenge, she tells her "not to make her smile, it'll make her forget the reason why she is doing this." The seriousness and pent-up anger is felt through the screen as Song Hye Kyo confidently exacts her revenge and we're all rooting for her! 2. The Glory is emotionally charged and scary at times! The seriousness and sometimes violence cannot be ignored at times and it keeps us fully invested in the storyline as Dong Eun carefully uses her chess pieces (her former school bullies) to make them turn on each other and self-destruct. Her meticulous planning has given her an edge over her former bullies as she uses her newfound information and resources to control their adult selves. Often without emotion, Dong Eun is able to give off a very scary vibe while using threats to get her way and to continue her plan. 3. We really hate the bad guys! The reason why we can become so emotionally invested in Song Hye Kyo's character is because of the school bullies! They have done unspeakable things to her during her high school years that most people would feel bad about. With the beautiful ring leader, Park Yeon Jin ( Lim Ji Yeon Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area Part II 2022), becoming a popular weather newscaster, marrying a rich man, and having a daughter, it seems that she has it all. But when Dong Eun starts to uncover her dark past, Yeon Jin's real character starts to show. We've all had mixed feelings about the most popular girl at school, but this one takes the cake! Not only is Lim Ji Yeon gorgeous, but her cruel attitude towards Song Hye Kyo's character makes us really hate her guts! Have we convinced you to watch The Glory yet? Let us know if you feel the same! Part 2 will be released in March 2023 and we can't wait!
- Explosive Allegations or Did Kim Soo Hyun Betray Kim Sae Ron? Shocking Allegations Resurface!
Kim Sae Ron’s untold story of betrayal and financial disputes shocks fans. The South Korean entertainment industry has been shaken by resurfacing allegations involving actors Kim Soo Hyun and the late Kim Sae Ron . These allegations, which came to light following a YouTube live broadcast on March 11, 2025, claim that the two were in a secret relationship for six years. The controversy has only intensified as more details emerge. Dating Rumors and Agency Response Speculation about a romantic relationship began on March 24, 2024, when Kim Sae Ron uploaded — and quickly deleted — a photo of herself with Kim Soo Hyun on Instagram Stories. The photo led to dating rumors, which Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, GOLDMEDALIST, swiftly denied. They stated that the picture was from the past, when both actors were under the same agency and warned against spreading false rumors. The Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron dating era was revealed by Sae Ron's Aunt (Credits: Different Sources) Claims of a Six-Year Secret Relationship On March 11, 2025, Kim Sae Ron’s aunt claimed that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron had been secretly dating for six years (2015-2021). She alleged that Kim Soo Hyun had a strong influence over Kim Sae Ron’s career decisions, including her joining GOLDMEDALIST in 2020. According to the aunt, the agency failed to protect her interests, especially after her DUI incident in 2022. Kim Sae Ron was reportedly struggling with debt after the DUI incident. Her aunt claimed that Kim Soo Hyun lent her a significant sum of money to settle the damages but later demanded repayment. This led to distress and isolation for Kim Sae Ron, contributing to her declining mental health. Kim Sae Ron posted a picture with Kim Soo Hyun on Instagram to get a response from him (Credits: Different Sources) Financial Disputes and Allegations of Betrayal The new revelations from the YouTube broadcast added more layers to the controversy: Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron allegedly dated from when she was 15 to 21 years old (2015-2021). In 2019, when Kim Soo Hyun started his own agency, Kim Sae Ron reportedly helped him without pay. After their breakup, GOLDMEDALIST paid 700 million KRW (USD 482,443) in compensation for Kim Sae Ron’s DUI damages. Initially, there was no demand for repayment, but in 2024, Kim Sae Ron suddenly received a notice requiring her to return the money. She attempted to contact Kim Soo Hyun multiple times but was ignored. A reporter later called her, leading her to believe Kim Soo Hyun had leaked her number. During the airing of Queen of Tears , Kim Sae Ron posted a picture from when she was 16, allegedly hoping Kim Soo Hyun would contact her. However, his agency dismissed the rumors and did not respond to her attempts at communication. Left: Kim Sae Ron, Right: Kim Soo Hyun Role of Malicious Reporters and Industry Figures Kim Sae Ron was reportedly under immense stress due to continuous malicious reports. Reporter Lee Jin Ho was accused of harassing her for three years, allegedly using inside information from her former manager, Kwak Tae Young. Her family believes this manager may have leaked details to reporters, worsening her situation. Additionally, another reporter, Kang Kyung Yoon, was involved in spreading negative reports about Kim Sae Ron. She was also supposed to make a comeback in a play directed by Dongchimi but was later removed. Her aunt alleged that this decision involved instances of verbal abuse and sexual harassment. Kim Sae Ron preparing for comeback from which she was later withdrawed by company (Credits: Dispatch) Kim Sae Ron’s Family Speaks Out Following her passing, Kim Sae Ron’s family revealed the struggles she faced. She even changed her name due to public stigma after her DUI case. Her family also denied reports claiming she was financially broke, stating that such narratives only added to their suffering. They criticized the mainstream media for blocking their attempts to tell the full story, which led them to reveal the truth via YouTube instead. Funeral of Kim Sae Ron (Credits: Yonhap News) Ongoing Investigations and Public Reactions GOLDMEDALIST has strongly denied all allegations, stating that Kim Soo Hyun had no romantic relationship with Kim Sae Ron. They announced plans to take legal action against those spreading false information. Public reactions remain divided. Some fans support Kim Soo Hyun, arguing that the allegations are baseless and that he was being unfairly targeted. Others sympathize with Kim Sae Ron’s struggles and question whether she was abandoned by those around her during difficult times. What Do You Think? With both sides presenting conflicting claims, the controversy continues to unfold. Do you think there is more to the story, or is this a case of false allegations?
