  • Baek Yoon Young Tries To Prevent Her Parents From Dating Each Other In "My Perfect Stranger"!

The time-traveling mystery drama My Perfect Stranger just got stranger! The lead role, Baek Yoon Young (Jin Ki Joo Sh**ting Stars 2022), travels back to 1987 when her parents were still in high school to ever prevent them from liking each other! Let's take a look at what happened! Spoilers! So why is Yoon Young so adamant about not letting her parents meet? It would also mean that she wouldn't exist in the future right? Something to keep in mind as we continue why! Back to the present, her father, Baek Hee Seob, is a deadbeat drunkard who always causes trouble to Yoon Young and her mother. At the same time, when Yoon Young learns that her mother commits suicide (that's all we know for the time being), she regrets not treating her mother better and despises the thought of living with her dad. So with the back story out of the way, let's get back to episode 4 where in 1987, Yoon Young's young beautiful mother, Lee Soon Ae (Seo Ji Hye ID: Gangnam Beauty 2018), lives across the street, conveniently, and the two have taken a liking to each other. Yoon Young saves Soon Ae from drowning by class bullies earlier in the season, so the two have now become good friends. Episode 4 starts off with Yoon Young realizing that her mother had her own dreams of becoming a writer and loved to read! She regrets the times when she looked weirdly at her mother, back in the present, when she told Yoon Young to "keep reading, don't let me bother you." While on a class trip, Soon Ae bumps into Yoon Young's father, Baek Hee Seob (Lee Won Jung New Normal Zine 2022). He is a charming, guitar-playing cool guy that Soon Ae finds irresistible! Smelling trouble, Yoon Young comes to her mother's rescue by hilariously saying "Look at his face! It looks like someone you'll regret being with later on!" • Choo Young-woo and Kim So-hyun Star in

Choo Young-woo is entering a completely different kind of K-drama era. After appearing in projects such as The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, The Tale of Lady Ok, and Head Over Heels, the actor is returning with a much softer role in the upcoming romance drama Between Steps. This time, there are no intense medical emergencies or dangerous missions waiting for him. Instead, Choo Young-woo is playing a robotics PhD student who has already experienced the loss of his biggest dream and is trying to figure out what comes next. Opposite him is Kim So-hyun, who plays a graduate student also struggling to find a new direction in life. Their characters meet in a robotics lab, leading to a romance filled with awkward moments, genuine affection, and plenty of emotional growing pains. What Is Between Steps About? Between Steps follows Park Min-jae, played by Choo Young-woo, and Im Yoo-jin, played by Kim So-hyun. Min-jae was once a promising swimmer during his high school years and dreamed of building a career around the sport. However, after losing his right leg due to an illness, he is forced to give up that dream. Instead of allowing that loss to completely define his future, Min-jae turns toward robotics and eventually becomes a PhD student. His new life is not necessarily easy, but he has found another direction. Then Im Yoo-jin enters the picture. She was studying clothing and textiles but finds herself unable to continue along the career path she originally planned. After a particular incident changes her circumstances, she ends up discovering robotics as a completely unexpected new possibility. That is where her path crosses with Min-jae's. Choo Young-woo Gets a Very Different Romantic Role This might be one of the most interesting aspects of Between Steps for Choo Young-woo fans. The actor has recently become particularly recognizable for characters who carry a certain intensity, whether he is playing a doctor, a historical character, or someone caught in a dangerous situation. Min-jae feels much quieter. He is someone who has already experienced a major loss and has learned to be careful about what he wants. Romance is not exactly his priority, and his fear of getting hurt appears to extend beyond his physical condition. This makes his relationship with Yoo-jin feel different from the typical confident K-drama male lead. The trailers show him becoming increasingly honest about his feelings, even admitting that he likes Yoo-jin and finds her pretty, cute, and kind. It is a surprisingly sweet side of Choo Young-woo. Kim So-hyun Is Not Playing the Perfect Female Lead Either Yoo-jin is also far from having everything figured out. She is trying to rebuild her future after losing the career path she originally imagined for herself. Her personality is much more direct than Min-jae's, which creates an interesting contrast between the two. While Min-jae seems cautious and reserved, Yoo-jin is more willing to say what she feels. One teaser even shows her making a bold confession to him, telling him directly that she likes him. That immediately changes the dynamic. Instead of waiting for the usual long K-drama misunderstanding, Yoo-jin seems willing to take the first step. Their Chemistry Is Already Getting Attention The biggest selling point of Between Steps may ultimately be the chemistry between Choo Young-woo and Kim So-hyun. The promotional material has already given fans plenty of sweet moments. One teaser shows the pair walking together under an umbrella while Min-jae compares Yoo-jin to the sun. Another puts them together on a bus, where they openly tease each other about their feelings. The second teaser goes even further, with Yoo-jin directly confessing her feelings and Min-jae struggling with the emotional complications surrounding his past. Their romance therefore seems less like a cold, slow game of “will they or won't they” and more like two young people who know they like each other but still have plenty of personal issues to work through. This Is Not Just a Sweet Campus Romance Despite the cute teasers, Between Steps appears to have a more emotional story underneath the romance. Both characters are dealing with disappointment. Min-jae lost a dream because of his illness and had to build a completely different future. Yoo-jin also loses her original career direction and finds herself starting again in an unfamiliar field. Their relationship brings these two people together at a point when neither has everything figured out. That gives the romance a more realistic foundation. They are not meeting as perfect people who simply need someone to fall in love with. They are both still figuring themselves out. A Final Project From Director Ahn Pan-seok Between Steps is also receiving attention because it is the final filmed project from director Ahn Pan-seok. He is known for acclaimed romance dramas including Something in the Rain, One Spring Night, and The Midnight Romance in Hagwon. His approach often focuses on ordinary conversations, complicated emotions, and relationships that feel closer to real life than the polished romances found in many K-dramas. That influence is already visible in the promotional material for Between Steps. Kim So-hyun has described the drama as feeling closer to real-life romance, with both the highs and lows of falling in love rather than an endlessly sweet relationship. When Will Between Steps Be Released? Between Steps will premiere on October 5, 2026, at 10 p.m. KST on ENA. The drama will air every Monday and Tuesday and is also scheduled to be available on Disney+ and KT Genie TV. The series is listed with 12 episodes. The main cast includes Choo Young-woo as Park Min-jae and Kim So-hyun as Im Yoo-jin, alongside supporting actors including Seo Jung-yeon, Kim Min-seok), Shim Hye-jin, and Park Hyuk-kwon. Final Thoughts Between Steps could be exactly the kind of softer romance Choo Young-woo fans have been waiting to see. Kim So-hyun also seems perfectly suited to Yoo-jin, especially with the character's direct personality and uncertain future. Their story is ultimately about two people who have lost the path they once imagined for themselves and unexpectedly find another one together. If the chemistry shown in the trailers is anything to go by, Choo Young-woo's soft romance era may be arriving at exactly the right time. Are you excited to see Choo Young-woo and Kim So-hyun together inBetween Steps?* BetweenSteps
