- New Jeans Or BLACKPINK!? | Jennie ended this question!
Each country has different rules and ways to show respect, and BLACKPINK ’s Jennie has gained praise for her behavior when visiting a place of worship in Saudi Arabia while on their world tour! K-pop idols have many fans from all countries and nations around the world, so they recently have been traveling a lot to see their fans as it is difficult for many of their fans to go to Korea. Today's topic is about BLACKPINK members who have traveled to many countries during their recent "Born Pink" world tour! BLACKPINK recently held their concert in Saudi Arabia on January 20th, 2023, it's their first time performing in an Arab country. For the first time, the Saudi Arabia government specially decorated its towers and areas with pink for BLACKPINK in preparation for the BLACKPINK concert! It is how the city of Riyadh welcomes BLACKPINK. Fans were concerned about what BLACKPINK would wear as Saudi Arabia is a very conservative country and the group's usual concert outfits are quite revealing. A lot of fans loved the fact that BLACKPINK changed some of their outfits to suit Riyadh culture and fans praised them for it! Blackpink in Riyadh by a Twitter user @UK_BLINKS On the other hand, some fans compared BLACKPINK to the new K-pop girl group NewJeans as the band was more modest and showed more respect than BLACKPINK. This made them question "Which of them was the best in Saudi Arabia?" But in the end, both groups deserved to be labeled as "the best" since they were respectable to the culture and adjusted their clothing to suit it! After BLACKPINK performed in Saudi Arabia, Jennie posted a picture of herself wearing a hijab on Instagram saying: " Exploring while touring 🌏 " After that Jennie posted that post, she has continually gone viral for her stunning outfits. She was especially receiving praise for the changes she implemented during the Riyadh concert, and her respect for the mosque by wearing hijab in it. She was also so remarkable while performing with her acting, her cuteness, and or course, her outfit! Is your favorite K-pop idol respective to local cultures? - Korean Teens Buying Outrageous Luxury Items Because of Their Idols!
Koreans live in a very competitive society. Not only are Korean teens/young adults constantly competing with each other for the best grades or jobs they are also pressured to fit in with their peers. This includes using the latest gadgets, driving the latest cars, and let's not forget, buying luxurious items just because their idols have them! We dig into why young Koreans are obsessively resorting to these expensive goods in order to fit in! Young adults in Korea believe that if they can be accepted by their peers and move with the trend, this would enable them to get accepted in society in terms of a better job and social status. There have been issues where young adults have been bullied in school because of what they wear. Therefore, in order to avoid bullying and confrontation, many Korean teens will beg their parents to buy expensive trendy items for them to wear/bring to school. This issue rose when K-pop idols began to be appointed as brand ambassadors to global fashion brands. Korean mothers were bombarded with pleas from their children to purchase these items. But it is really hard to argue with the results from a marketing point. For instance, after Dior made Jimin their first Asian global Ambassador, their stock price rose to an all-time high. The standing issue about buying luxury brands is not because young adults need them but because it is the latest trend and has been worn by their idols. They are not phased by the costs of these items. Also, it helps them fit in with their peers at school. I personally have bought a few things because I have seen people wear them on the streets of Seoul and the item looked nice on them. What are your thoughts about this trending issue? Is there a way for Korean society to just let their young adults be? Let us know in the comments below! #seoultrendy #jiminxdior #baesuzy

- Choi Chi Yeol Professes His Love In Public! And Shares First Kiss!
Star math teacher, Choi Chi Yeol professes his feelings for Nam Haeng Seon in this weekend's episodes of Crash Course in Romance that have our emotions riding high! Let's break down what happened! **Spoiler Alert! Recap The beginning of episode 9 shows the group of All Care moms in front of Nam Haeng Seon's ( Jeon Do Yeon ) side dishes restaurant with Choi Chi Yeol ( Jung Kyung Ho ) helping her carry out the garbage from her home. They catch wind that the rumor spread online about Chi Yeol having a relationship with Haeng Seon is true. Chi Yeol decides to take matters in his own hands by meeting them back at the academy to clear things up. Haeng Seon makes the situation worse by following them and dragged out of the meeting by the hand with Chi Yeol. The All Care moms after hearing that Chi Yeol has been tutoring Hae Yi ( Roh Yoon Seo ) on his own time and without pay start to resent him. Meanwhile, at school, things start to amplify for Hae Yi as students bring up the scandal. Hae Yi is having a difficult time telling her close friends that Haeng Seon is actually her aunt due to a past incident that backfired when she told her then-best friend. Since all this craziness is going on, Chi Yeol decides to end his relationship with Hae Yi and Haeng Seon saying that he will no longer need her lunch boxes. The two go on their different ways for a little while before things start to heat up again! While casually browsing through the announcements, Haeng Seon finds a mom's course admission Q&A session. She decides to go to it without realizing that it is headed by Chi Yeol! Of course, due to the rising suspicion of Chi Yeol having a relationship with one of the academy moms, the moms in the audience couldn't help but mention this and bring up why this particular mom, Nam Haeng Seon, would act this way. All the while, Haeng Seon is in the audience hearing about this. Feeling embarrassed, she decided to quietly remove herself from the area, but not without Chi Yeol spotting her in the crowd and professing his feelings! In episode 10, Chi Yeol decides to leave the academy due to the unfair treatment of Hae Yi and Haeng Seon. After drinking heavily with his childhood friend, Chi Yeol is drunk and is taken back to his house by Haeng Seon's autistic brother. It is during this scene that Chi Yeol "imagines kissing Haeng Seon" and thinks it's a dream, but in reality, it really happened! At the end of episode 10, Haeng Seon really did visit Chi Yeol's home and took care of him while he was drunk! Our thoughts Oh, the feels! The fact that both characters try their hardest to suppress their emotions for each other is something we can all understand. Chi Yeol still thinks that Haeng Seon is married, therefore, stops himself from making attempts toward her. Every time Haeng Seon thinks that Chi Yeol is taking a step toward her, she realizes that he stops himself. What will eventually happen with these two? Let us know your theories in the comments below! We can't wait to see what happens next week! #crashcourseinromance #jungkyungho #jeondoyeon

- Are Tiger Moms' "Love" Destroying Korean Children's Futures? [Crash Course in Romance Breakdown!]
#crashcourseinromance #jeondoyeon #jungkyungho #일타스캔들 The top trending romantic comedy Crash Course in Romance is on a roll! The latest episode, episode 8, has garnered the top viewership ratings since it premiered snatching 11.823% of total viewers, good for first, according to Nielsen Korea! Although this K-drama focuses on the budding relationship between the two main characters, we want to bring attention to an underlying more serious theme, tiger moms ! Let's dig deeper into this overbearing issue that has caused many Korean teenagers to harm themselves. Amidst the comedy and ridiculousness that Crash Course in Romance gives off, the reason that the main characters Nam Haeng Seon ( Jeon Do Yeon ) and Choi Chi Yeol ( Jung Kyung Ho ) meet is because of Haeng Seon's daughter, Nam Hae Yi ( Roh Yoon Seo ). Hae Yi feels that she needs extra help in math so she seeks out Choi Chi Yeol's math academy to help her. The drama really begins when Nam Hae Yi is pushed off of the class for seven of the top students due to a mother's plead to get her son to take her spot. Since Hae Yi is pushed to the side, she's not able to get the class materials needed to improve her grade. Her best friend, Lee Seon Jae ( Lee Chae Min ), who is also accepted into the elite student group, covers up for her when Hae Yi's classmate and rival, Bang Su Ah, accuses her of stealing the exam questions. What's the problem? South Korea is a very competitive country. Due to its limited resources and manpower, the struggle to survive and make a better life is at the forefront of every South Korean parent's mind. Therefore, education is the "key to a better life". It is the only option that many Korean parents feel their children have. Is society making the situation worse? Since most parents want their children to have a "competitive edge" over their classmates, sending their children to after-school academies is a popular option. Most children, mostly all teenagers, attend school in the morning until early afternoon and go straight to their after-school academies until late at night. It is usual for teenagers, especially those in the last year of high school, to study 12 hours a day! Because of this constant pressure to study and do better than their peers, many Korean teens have resorted to taking out their frustrations by hurting themselves. Although South Korea's suicide rates have been trending down over the past several years, suicide has been the leading killer for people in their teens until their early 30s 1 . The Korean Youth Counseling and Welfare Institute stated "Counseling on self-harm and suicide for teens has surged. One area reportedly saw the number more than double during the same period.” Lee Mi Won, the head of the welfare institute added, “According to the data, the biggest reasons young people consider suicide are academic stress, interpersonal relationships, and family problems. Peers or family should help alleviate academic stress, but when that doesn’t happen, suicidal thoughts often emerge,” In 2020, Korea had the highest suicide rate among the 38 member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, with 23.5 per 100,000 people. What is the solution? The argument for many non-Koreans would be to alleviate the competitive educational requirements for children and young adults, but many Koreans oppose this thinking since it will "create laziness". Many Korean families have been leaving Seoul for neighboring Gyeonggi Province to create a more balanced lifestyle for their families since there is more area their children can play. What are your thoughts about this? Should Korean parents give their children more freedom? Let us know! Source: 1

- Top 5 Korean In Real Life (IRL) Dating Rules!
With dramas and K-pop becoming more and more popular, dating in Korea is something many girls and guys across the world dream of. But people probably want to know fact from fiction! Is dating just like dramas and music videos? Well, yes and no. As residents of Seoul, we can fill you in! Follow our dating rules so that when you meet the love of your life, you don’t make any mistakes! 1. No PDA! While you often see couples in dramas hugging and kissing on the street, this is quite rare in the streets of Seoul. It is a bit taboo in Korean culture, though it is changing little by little. Though the most popular way that couples show their love is by holding hands and being close, rarely do more where other eyes can see. This often leads to other ways to show their love! 2. Show Off Your Love! Couples show their love for each other outwardly! They wear couple rings, bracelets, necklaces, clothes, shoes, and more! They have their lovers’ photos in phone cases and on their SNS profiles. It's all about showing off who you love for the world to see! 3. Constant Contact! Couples often contact each other throughout the day! ‘Good morning', ‘Did you eat?’, ‘What should we do this weekend?’ All of these are common phrases you’ll read all day, every day. If a partner doesn’t answer for a long time and isn’t at work, it often leads to snooping and a fight. This way of messaging is very common in young couples who want the reassurance of their love. 4. No Meeting Opposite Gender People Alone! If you want to meet a friend who is the opposite gender of you, I.e. a girl and you are a boy, this is a big no-no! Often meetings like this in Korea are viewed as a date, so your partner may think you are cheating! I have seen close friends not even say "Hi" when they see each other on the street! It is often the case that you only meet your partner or meet opposite-gender people with other friends as well. 5. You Have to Give Gifts on White Day/ Valentine's Day! Couples holidays are a must in Korea! On White day, boys give gifts to girls and girls give gifts to boys on Valentine’s Day. It is an old tradition that continues to this day. Peppero Day is also important, but both partners should give the other Peppero snacks! These are 5 basic rules for you to keep your love life aflutter in Korea! Please remember that while they do not apply to every person you will meet in Korea, they are very common. Let us know below what other rules you have questions about! #datinginkorea #coupleculture #koreancouple #internationalcouple #howtodateinkorea

- Learn Korean From "The K2"!
Ji Chang Wook is one of the best Korean actors to date and his stellar acting in The K2 proves it! Romance is secondary in this drama but very addictive too! It may be the absolute worst romantic scene ever in a K-Drama or any drama. While the main romance is, at times, painful, the show is still fascinating, thanks to the two main leads (and I'm not talking about the annoying Snow White character An Na). Rather, K2 is all about Yoo Jin and Je Ha. It has a compelling storyline and leaves you hanging multiple times. I wasn't as impressed with the romance portion, but it wasn't necessary to enjoy this series! Today we're going to learn some new words and phrases from episodes 13 and 14! Scene 1 : Scene 2 : Scene 3 : After watching those three scenes, what did you learn? And do you know any of those sentences? And if you guys want to learn more Korean in another part of this drama please tell us in the comments! #thek2 #learnkorean #jichangwook
