Our thoughts Looking at this lineup, there are some amazing names that come from the Western and the UK music industry, which, combined with some of K-pop's upcoming artists, will for sure make a great mashup! Lewis Hooper , one of our veteran writers is also from the UK, and he mentioned that growing up in the 90s, the Spice Girls were everywhere, for that era, they were the BTS or the UK's music industry, and therefore they have made a household name for themselves, both in the UK and overseas for their success at the time. Lewis also mentioned that he saw on their Instagram that Mel B and Emma Bunton were in Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul earlier this year, and he was curious what they were filming there, but now it all makes sense! Which mash-up are you looking forward to seeing the most? We would love to hear from you, so comment below! #KPopped #ITZY #SpiceGirls #AppleTVPlus #Kpop #MeganTheeStallion #Kesha #MusicCompetition #SoojeongSon #Collaboration #NewMusic #Seoul

Beyond the beats—we list all the Korean bites fueling Netflix's new animated film, K-Pop Demon Hunters ! Which food have you tried? Comment below! Image: Kpop Demon Hunters K-food - Photo: Netflix Kpop Demon Hunters has accelerated an already growing trend when it comes to putting Korean food on the global map. In this article, we are going to look at some of the most loved Korean foods and how they were showcased in the film! Cup Ramyeon 컵라면 Image: Kpop Demon Hunters K-food - Photo: Netflix A shared love for a Korean classic is on full display with Rumi , Mira, and Zoey, who, like so many others, can't resist the allure of cup ramyeon . The packaging gives us a clue to their choice: it appears to be none other than Jin Ramyeon  by Ottogi, a beloved brand that offers both spicy and mild options, and it is also one of the Dojeon team's most loved! This isn't just any instant noodle; it's a Korean staple, celebrated for its rich and flavorful broth. As the trio digs in, it's a perfect showcase of a true-to-life scene, as Koreans often elevate their cup ramyeon experience by pairing it with a variety of delicious side dishes, just like the ones you see here, and we agree that it is one that you have to try! We promise you will not look back! Kimbap 김밥 Image: Kpop Demon Hunters K-food - Photo: Netflix In Kpop Demon Hunters , the attention to detail is truly impressive, especially when it comes to capturing authentic Korean culture. The scene where friends gather at home perfectly reflects a common tradition: sharing multiple dishes. While many people might order classics like tteokbokki , fried chicken , or pizza, the show took a unique turn by featuring one of Korea's most iconic and beloved foods: kimbap . This choice not only feels incredibly true-to-life but also gives a spotlight to a dish that holds a special place in the hearts of many Koreans, as well as Lewis Hooper from the Dojeon team, who finds this daily staple a permanent fixture in his lunchtime routine. Image: Kpop Demon Hunters K-food - Photo: Netflix Buldak Sauce 불닭 소스 Image: Kpop Demon Hunters K-food - Photo: Netflix A fiery secret simmers beneath the surface of the action in Kpop Demon Hunters ! While the Saja Boys might be battling supernatural forces, their mortal taste buds are taking on a different kind of inferno. The sizzling, crimson sauce they're seen devouring isn't some mystical concoction, but the very real and wildly popular Buldak Sauce . This isn't just a prop; it's a culinary star in its own right, a staple for anyone who craves a serious kick. Whether you're drizzling it over a comforting bowl of bibimbap or amping up the heat in a classic Buldak Ramyeon , this sauce delivers an unforgettable, tongue-tingling experience. For the truly brave and spice-obsessed, a warning and a recommendation: seek out the legendary Haek Buldak, or "Nuclear Buldak", for a flavor explosion that will have you feeling like you've conquered a demon yourself. Korean Corn Dog 핫도그 Image: Kpop Demon Hunters K-food - Photo: Netflix Look closely at what Junwoo is holding, and you'll spot a familiar and much-loved treat: the Korean corn dog! Known as "hot dog" in Korea, this isn't your average fairground snack. It's a crispy, deep-fried delight with a sausage at its core, coated in a light, delicious batter. But the magic doesn't stop there. The variations are what truly make it special, with popular choices like the cheese corn dog, which features a satisfying mozzarella pull, and the potato corn dog, covered in crunchy cubes of potato. These innovative and delicious takes on a classic have made Korean corn dogs a worldwide sensation. These can also be found at virtually any service station if you stop off. Inspired by the American version, they taste a lot sweeter, which adds to the flavor, and the Dojeon team thinks that this is something you need on a long drive . Don't knock it until you have tried it. Naengmyeon 냉면 Image: Kpop Demon Hunters K-food - Photo: Netflix In Kpop Demon Hunters , a delicious detail on the table is the iconic Korean dish, Naengmyeon . This isn't just any noodle dish; it's a refreshing bowl of cold noodles, perfect for beating the heat, AND the Dojeon team agrees that it is a recipe that works. The noodles themselves are a fascinating mix of ingredients like buckwheat, arrowroot, or sweet potato starch, which gives them a distinctively chewy texture, not to mention that they are super healthy as well, so what's not to love? Final thoughts The movie really does showcase some of Korea's best loved foods, that international visitors really should try during their time in Korea! This also goes to show the level of National pride that Korea boasts, and the tactics of soft power that they are using to entice visitors by showcasing not only their songs and movies but also their cuisine in which you can learn a lot about a country and culture. • “Love Untangled”: Nostalgic Romance, Curly Hair Debate, and August 29 Netflix Release Details!

Shin Eun Soo, Gong Myung and Cha Woo Min in Netflix's film Love Untangled (Credits: Netflix) Love Untangled  is a 1998-set South Korean teen romance film arriving on Netflix on August 29, 2025 . It stars Shin Eun-soo , Gong Myung , and Cha Woo-min . It follows Park Se-ri, a home-schooled 19-year-old with untamable curly hair, on a quirky journey toward love and self-acceptance. Plot Overview and Main Cast Set in 1998 in Busan, Park Se-ri ( Shin Eun-soo ) is determined to confess to Kim Hyeon ( Cha Woo-min ), the school’s heartthrob. But she believes her voluminous curly hair stands in her way. With the help of transfer student Han Yoon-seok ( Gong Myung ), she tames her curls, leading to unexpected friendship and romance. Supporting characters include Baek Seong-rae ( Yoon Sang-hyeon ) and rival Go In-jeong ( Kang Mi-na ). Love Untangled (Credits: Netflix) Retro Aesthetic with a Modern Heart Director Namkoong Sun and writers Ji Chun-hee and Wang Doo-ri create a warm, nostalgic tone that blends 90s props—think cassette tapes—with a coming-of-age emotional arc. The trailer teases Se-ri's earnest attempts to manage her curls and confess her feelings, delivering both warmth and teenage whimsy. Love Untangled (Credits: Netflix) Backlash: Curly Hair as a "Problem" Not long after the trailer release, backlash surfaced, accusing the film of reinforcing outdated beauty standards by portraying curly hair as a flaw. Critics argue the transformation trope—straightening her hair to gain acceptance—is harmful. As one netizen put it: “The narrative of wavy/curly hair being messy, dirty, difficult to handle and an unlovable feature in the year of 2025… I thought we had moved past this.”  Love Untangled (Credits: Netflix) Viewers Push Back: Context Matters On the other hand, defenders of the film highlight that it’s a period piece set in 1998, a pre-Internet era and filmed in a coastal area where managing textured hair was more challenging. They argue that Se-ri’s hair issue reflects the reality of the time rather than a modern beauty standard failing. One user commented: “This is a coming-of-age story about an insecurity that actual girls experience.” Why the Curly Hair Debate Matters This is more than just a plot point. The conversation taps into ongoing issues around representation and beauty norms in Korean media. When stories suggest someone must change their natural traits to be lovable, it invites scrutiny about whether the eventual resolution supports self-acceptance or upholds outdated ideals. It’s a reminder that even small moments in pop culture can spark broader discussion. Love Untangled (Credits: Netflix) When and Where to Watch Love Untangled  will be released worldwide on Netflix on August 29, 2025 . It will be available in most regions, though exact timing may vary depending on your location. Check your local Netflix app or the movie’s official page for release details in your area. Final Thoughts Love Untangled  offers a charming, retro high school romance with strong cast chemistry and nostalgic beats. But as with many stories, context and execution matter especially when it comes to themes like self-image and beauty ideals. Whether the film challenges or confirms stereotypes will matter most after its release. What do you think, will the film embrace Se-ri’s natural curls, or fall back on the “fix the hair, fix the problem” trope?  Let us know in the comments below. #LoveUntangled #GongMyung #ShinEunSoo #ChaWooMin

  • K-Pop’s Latest ‘Scandal’: Ex-Boys24 Trainee Cherry Dares To Be Trans – but Is This ‘Right’ for the Industry?

The industry built on illusion confronts an uncomfortable truth. Let's take a closer look as we dissect this latest K-pop scandal! Image: Chae Ryujin now Cherry - Photo: indopop.com For a long time, the K-pop machine, as we know it, has been heavily criticized for the harsh and rigid control it exerts on artists to maintain the manufactured perfection image. However, K-pop's latest controversy is Cherry . Cherry is a former contestant from Mnet's Boys24 , and they have declared themselves a trans woman. This isn't just a personal revelation; it's a defiant middle finger to an industry that thrives on strict gender roles and marketable fantasies. Cherry, who is also known as Chae Ryujin , first rose to stardom on the 2016 reality series Boys24 , where she competed for a spot in the K-pop boy band of the same name. Although she was eliminated, she later became a member of the K-pop group JWiiver , previously performing under the stage name Ryujei. The band released a mini album titled JTrap in 2022, before officially disbanding in January 2024. Why Go Public? Cherry, was once presented as another aspiring male idol, which has now shattered the illusion. Her decision to publicly transition is an undeniable challenge to South Korea's deeply conservative entertainment landscape, where LGBTQ+ identities are largely pushed to the shadows or, worse, sensationalized for clicks. While some virtue-signal with "bravery" endorsements, the real question is how the industry, built on exploiting specific images, will actually react. Will labels embrace authenticity, or will Cherry's visibility simply become another uncomfortable truth to be swept under the rug? Sadly, here the Dojeon team goes with the latter. Let's take a look at the moment she came out. This is not just about one individual, in this case Cherry, it is about the whole K-pop industry. Cherry's existence demands a conversation about what "idol" truly means and whether an industry so reliant on manufactured narratives can ever truly accept, let alone celebrate, genuine diversity. Her journey isn't just a personal one; it's a stark mirror held up to K-pop's own prejudices and its desperate need to catch up with a world that's already moved on. Since the face of K-pop is starting to look more global, as a global fan base grows, will this force the K-pop industry to become more inclusive in what is a very woke Western culture? Fan opinion Fan opinion has also shifted in a more positive direction, which should help decision-makers in the K-pop industry become more open-minded. Fans on social media have expressed their appreciation for Cherry's bravery at this tough time in her life. Let's check some of the comments out! “I am sooooo happy for her!!” one X user wrote . “I’ve been following her for a long time now and I feel excited every time she expresses herself.” “Oh my Cherry 🥹🥹🥹🫂🫂🫂🫂,” another fan said . “So proud of you, finally able to live your truth. Wishing you nothing but health and happiness 💕.” In a July 21 Instagram post , Cherry thanked her international fans “for your support and love.” “I’ll live my second life happier,” she wrote. “I would appreciate it if you continue to love and support us.” From the Dojeon team, we think this is a great act of bravery from the star, and we hope more stars speak out about their sexuality, in order to bring a more open-minded and diverse K-pop community, which is also more realistic in today's modern world. https://www.dojeonmedia.com/post/seoul-kicks-off-lgbtq-awareness-with-pride-parade In the ruthless, image-driven world of K-pop, is this level of personal truth ultimately a career-ending "mistake," or is it the necessary, painful step towards a more genuinely inclusive future for artists and fans alike? We would love to hear your thoughts on this topic in the comments below. #KPopScandal #CherryTrans #Boys24 #KPopControversy #TransVisibility #KoreanEntertainment

  • Im Si Wan: From “Squid Game” Villain to Your New K-Drama Obsession! Here Are 5 of His Top Works!

Forget Squid Game S3 's villain, Im Si Wan's true charm shines in these must-watch K-dramas! We share five of his best dramas that should be on your watchlist! Image: Im Si Wan in the Film Emergency Declaration (Photo: CGV) From intense psychological thrillers to touching romance, you will remember Im Si Wan for breaking the hearts of many in " Squid Game Season 3", however his talent has captivated audiences long before this series. This versatile star began in the K-pop group ZE:A   before transitioning to acting, where he's tackled everything from a historical king to an office underdog and even a character trapped in a dystopia. Here are his top five dramas, all highly rated on IMDb, each one a testament to his incredible range in Korean television. 1. Misaeng: Incomplete Life (2014) Portraying an underdog intern, Im Si Wan shines as Jang Geu Rae in "Misaeng: Incomplete Life". Here, he plays a former baduk player who has no college degree, trying to navigate this cutthroat Korean corporate world from the ground up. Im Si Wan's portrayal is remarkably honest and earnest, a performance that deeply resonated with audiences and helped make Misaeng  a cultural phenomenon with impressive viewership. His ability to convey Geu Rae's struggles and growth without uttering a single false note is a testament to his skill. This is the reason why this drama has come in at Dojeon's number one pick! 2. The King in Love (2017) If Im Si Wan  in Squid Game Season 3  left a bad taste, " The King in Love"   might just reinforce it. Here, he's Crown Prince Wang Won, caught in a complicated love triangle with his own best friend. His character's constant conflict between duty and desire can be incredibly frustrating, especially as the political intrigue intensifies. You might find yourself actively disliking his choices alongside co-stars Im Yoon Ah and Hong Jong Hyun. This period drama will for sure leave you with a sense of anger towards Im Si Wan as the plot thickens as the show progresses, though this is what makes his acting so great! 3. Triangle (2014) Another throwback from the K-drama year of 2014 is Triangle . This might scratch that itch of hate even further. Here, he plays the youngest of three brothers separated at birth, adopted into a wealthy chaebol  family, which transforms him into a cold, cynical individual. As the long-lost brothers, including Lee Beom Soo and Kim Jae Joong , reunite two decades later, Im Si Wan's detached and seemingly unfeeling portrayal could easily make him the character you love to despise in this popular crime melodrama. 4. Strangers from Hell (2019) If Im Si Wan's unsettling turn in Squid Game Season 3  had you hating him, Strangers from Hell   delivers an even more intense experience. As Yoon Jong Woo, a young man trapped in a truly nightmarish apartment, his portrayal of a mind unravelling is so raw and convincing that it might make you want to scream at your screen. Fans have loved  to hate the sheer helplessness and paranoia he embodies, as he's relentlessly tormented by bizarre neighbors, especially with Lee Dong Wook's character pushing him to his breaking point. You'll feel every bit of his character's descent, making it easy to despise the torment he endures and the twisted path he's forced down. This drama has made it into the list for the psychological torment that captured thousands of K-drama fans worldwide, including the Dojeon team. 5. Run On (2020) Last up on our list has to be Run On , which, after seeing Im Si Wan 's darker roles, offers a complete 180 that might actually make you miss  hating him. Here, he transforms into Ki Seon Gyeom, a former sprinter turned sports agent whose gentle, almost naïve charm might be disarming after the intensity of Squid Game Season 3 . His slow-burn romance with movie subtitle translator Oh Mi Joo is incredibly sweet and tender, and honestly, we found ourselves completely charmed by his portrayal of a man learning to navigate love and life with quiet sincerity. While some might find his character's slow pace frustrating after his more explosive roles, this drama was genuinely one of 2020's most beloved, showcasing a softer, incredibly endearing side of Im Si Wan that you simply can't help but fall for. Which moment do you hate the most? We would love to hear from you in the comments below! #ImSiWan #KDrama #SquidGameS3 #MustWatch #ActorSpotlight #KPopIdolTurnedActor
