Last month, right after their hit concert 'Yet To Come in Busan', the phenomenal K–pop group BTS confirmed their enlistment into the military, starting with the eldest member Jin. According to their company HYBE, he was supposed to enlist right after he had finished promoting his new single 'Astronaut'. Well, apparently earlier today news came that the singer supposedly submitted the application to cancel his military postponement, which allowed him to not have to enlist until the end of the year. If that rumor were true, it would make the singer eligible to be called into the military any time now. This news came right after the confirmation from HYBE's CEO that BTS' leader RM is going to release new music by the end of 2022, while the rest of the members – SUGA, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – are said to do so sometime in 2023. If you weren't aware, every member will enlist in the military right after releasing their solo music. But do not panic! In the same notice where they announced BTS' plans to enlist into the military, HYBE has also announced their intention to regroup in 2025. Not too far off, right? What do you think? BTS's Suga’s DUI case has recently caused much speculation and headlines, so what happened? We have all the details! BTS‘s Suga is under investigation for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) at the Yongsan Police Station on August 6, 2024 (KST) , when Suga operated his electric vehicle home as the latest developments are being reported. Suga had initially claimed to have only consumed one glass of beer, but the new evidence suggests otherwise. This revelation may lead to harsher punishments, including fines of up to 20 million KRW (approximately USD 17,000) or imprisonment for up to five years. Being 0.2 over the limit, is that really that high? What effects would that have had on his ability to drive the scooter? Probably not too much. The Yongsan Police Station has yet to decide whether to revoke Suga's license, which would result in a one-year suspension from driving. HYBE , BTS's management agency, has not commented on the report, but should they actually? What are their limits for protecting and representing the star? Should the star represent himself and take responsibility? Personally, I do not think it matters if you are a high-profile celebrity such as BTS' Suga or an ordinary citizen. The law is clear and although I disagree with these scooters being used on roads, I think it was a misjudgment by Suga. I believe that the singer should have just taken a taxi home. However, my question is that this would have never of come to light if a celebrity such as his ranking would have been caught in the act, instead of an ordinary citizen. Of course, the singer should face the same punishment regardless of his social ranking else it sets a bad precedent for the Government. (One rule for one, and one for another) I do think that half the time celebrity's think that they are above the law. Now, with the summer season kicking into action, I have listed three of the many Korean summer foods that you really should try, whether you are living in Korea or simply visiting. As you may know, Korean summers can get VERY hot, especially in Daegu which the Koreans name it (Dafrica) as it's simply dry and hot because of its beautiful mountain surroundings. 1. Patbingsu (팥빙수) Now before I tried this for the first time, I thought that it might taste like ice cream, though I realized that it was nothing like that. It's known for it's shaved ice toppings and either red bean or fruits, both of which are typically served with condensed milk for extra sweetness or candy depending on what option you choose. Though you can get individual portions, it is something that is usually served as a sharing size and I think that makes it such a more enjoyable social experience. My favorite has to be the mango flavor, and the shaved ice treat will definitely leave you feeling refreshed this summer! 2. Naengmyeon (냉면) Now if you have not heard of naengmyeon, you will very quickly when you are in Korea, especially in the summer. This dish is a cold noodle dish. It is made of buckwheat, potato, and sweet potato flour, and it is usually made with a beef broth with ice, vegetables, pear, and slices of meat, topped with a boiled egg. That said, nowadays this is one of the most popular summer dishes but its origins are from North Korea, where it was not strictly prepared during the summer but also during the winter. For me, this dish screams everything about summer in Korea and it can usually be found everywhere for a reasonable price. 3. Samgyetang (삼계탕) Now, Samgyetang is probably the most famous of the summer foods I have listed in this article, and for good reason. Now, I love chicken, and this hot chicken broth packs a punch of different flavors, which are said to keep you cool during the Korean summer. I have also tried making this famous dish at a cooking class about two years ago, and the whole baby chicken which is the star feature of this dish, boils to the bone and then soaks in all of the other ingredients. The global star has hit headlines again, and after his drunk driving incident earlier in the year, he is no stranger to controversy. Like most bands or idols, stars from time to time find themselves in some major issues. Suga, this time, has become a hot topic online. This time he has had alleged disputes with neighbors at his former residence, according to a report by Biz Hankook, the BTS star relocate from his luxury UN Village Villa after leaving another property back in 2021. The new report has revealed that Suga purchased the old residence after he located to Hannam Riverhill in 2018, for the whopping cost of ₩3.40 billion KRW (2.4 million USD). However, after three years, he moved out in November 2021, reportedly due to disputes with other residents in the area. Under a long-term lease arrangement, he vacated the property in May 2024, and the reason is unknown. According to the report, the deposit for the Park Hannam was covered by his agency BigHit Music , which rightly so have left fans puzzled, and it has led to questions about his alleged conflicts with the stars previous neighbors and allegations. One fan asked, “What kind of conflict is it?" another added, “It’s scary… to think that someone so famous had ‘conflicts’ but none of us knew about it until now."
