Seoul has recently announced that it will transform into a "RiverCity" by 2030. This will allow the Han River to turn itself into a more urban area, hosting floating hotels, offices, restaurants, bars and so much more as the world's first floating city. For now, the full details have not been released, however, what we do know is that from 2026 a scenery pool observation and some leisure facilities will open to the public. As a result of the floating city, South Korea will aim to draw more talent from the global pool and provide jobs and opportunities. Following up on the "Great Han River Project" announced last March, the Seoul Metropolitan Government hopes to better utilize the Han River by constructing floating offices, hotels, and creating a cable water skiing facility by 2030! Right now, bidding for private developers is in the talks, and construction is said to begin in 2026. The city plans on building a floating food zone that can accommodate 2,400 people while opening a cable water skiing facility over the river.
