If you love romantic comedies with comedic banter, Would You Marry Me? is one to watch this season. Starring Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min, this K-drama brings together one of the most beloved fake marriage tropes with heart and humor.

Quick Preview

Yoo Me-ri’s (Jung So-min) world falls apart after a broken engagement and a real estate scam. To save her prize newlywed home, she ropes in Kim Woo-joo (Choi Woo-shik) for a 90-day contract marriage. What follows is awkward, sweet, and full of surprises.

Would You Marry Me: Synopsis

Yoo Me-ri’s life is in shambles. After catching her husband, Kim Woo-joo (Seo Beom-jun), cheating, her marriage ends in a painful divorce. To make things worse, the home she bought after the wedding turns out to be a complete scam, leaving her broke and drowning in debt.

While struggling to rebuild her life, Me-ri meets another Kim Woo-joo, the heir to Myungsoondang, South Korea’s oldest bakery. He’s logical, perfectionist, and calm, a total contrast to Me Ri’s quirky, messy, and short-tempered personality.

Her luck turns slightly when she wins a villa in a lucky draw meant for newlywed couples. But there’s one condition: she must claim it with her husband. Desperate, she convinces the new Kim Woo-joo, a man she’s met only once, to pretend to be her husband so she can claim the house.

The story soon takes off with laughter, confusion, and a fake marriage full of hilarious twists and unexpected warmth.

Would You Marry Me?: Early Review

The drama begins with a fun and quirky scene that instantly captures attention. Jung So-min as Yoo Me-ri shines once again, perfectly portraying a strong-willed yet clumsy woman whose bad luck keeps following her. She brings both humor and vulnerability to the role, making Me-ri deeply relatable.

Choi Woo-shik’s portrayal of Kim Woo-joo, the calm and logical heir, balances her chaotic energy beautifully. Though their chemistry isn’t fully explored in the first two episodes, there’s already a charming build-up that promises more emotional connection ahead.

Supporting performances add extra flavor. Seo Bum-jun as Me-ri’s ex-husband, while Shin Seul-ki as Yu Ji-gyeong, are perfect. A pleasant surprise comes from Bae Na-ra as Baek Sang-hyeon, who gained fame from Weak Hero Class 2, and continues to impress here.

The series perfectly combines fake marriage comedy with heartfelt storytelling. It plays with the familiar trope while keeping the humor light and the emotions real.

As Me-ri tries to protect her fake marriage secret, the tension rises. What happens if the truth comes out and she loses everything again?

If you enjoy the fake marriage trope with a mix of chaos, warmth, and laughter, Would You Marry Me? is the perfect weekend comfort drama. It’s funny, heartwarming, and just the right pick for those who want to relax and smile.
