EXO comeback controversy intensifies as CBX reveals they accepted SM’s conditions but were still excluded (Credits: X) EXO  recently announced their first major comeback since all members completed their military service, triggering excitement across K-pop fandoms. Yet the joy was short-lived when the official schedule revealed that sub-unit EXO‑CBX  ( Baekhyun , Chen , and Xiumin ) wouldn’t participate. The absence of CBX from what was billed as a full-group comeback has left fans feeling betrayed and skeptical. CBX (Credits: X) CBX Claims They Did Everything, Yet Still Excluded CBX’s agency INB100 issued a detailed statement saying the trio: Met with SM Entertainment on July 9, 2025,  to discuss full-group activities. Exchanged detailed agreements by September 10, 2025 . On October 2 , formally accepted all terms set by SM. Cleared their entire December schedules to prioritize EXO activities. Despite all that, SM announced the comeback without them. As CBX concluded in their statement: “We have been making every effort to fulfil our promise for full-group EXO activities.” SM Maintains Legal Disputes, Prevents CBX Participation SM Entertainment responded by saying that the settlement of legal disputes and group activities are separate matters. They claim CBX has not fulfilled a key payment clause: 10% of individual activity revenue from the settlement signed in June 2023. Further, reports indicate that CBX has lost most of its legal battles against SM, reducing its leverage. Fan Outrage: “Never OT9” Fans expected an OT9 reunion , meaning all nine original EXO members would participate. RIIZE once made it as a household name amongst many Koreans; however, breaking into the international market and remaining relevant is another matter. RIIZE has found out the hard way, as they recently had to post a sudden cancellation of their US concert due to low ticket sales. The show's cancellation has faced backlash from their US fans; however, should the fans have supported them more by purchasing tickets to the show? The Dojeon team thinks so! One of the key problems which led to the cancellation is that the RIIZE team failed to promote the show enough in the US, in a way which would make US based fans want to purchase tickets to the show, and at an affordable price point since the cost of living crisis in the Western markets, that mixed with oversized venues, which RIIZE are unable to fill up. Fans are particularly frustrated with SM Entertainment’s lack of transparency and last-minute communication, calling the move unprofessional. Some fans also believe the group’s momentum was already slowing due to earlier controversies, making the cancellation feel like a symptom of deeper issues internally. Ambitious Venue Size RIIZE’s Georgia stop was scheduled at the 13,000-capacity Gas South Arena, a space typically reserved for more established acts which are set to perform there. The government maintained its position despite strong pressure from major business lobbies - the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism "South Korea has started to take a significant step towards improving labor," Kim Young-hoon, the Minister of Employment and Labor, announced during a press conference for the FCC (Foreign Correspondence Club) in Seoul on October 20, 2025, where he set out the conditions in the form of the "Yellow Envelope Act" for foreign workers in the Republic of Korea. Our writer Lewis Hooper attended the press event, and here are the MUST-KNOW facts that you need to understand. What is the "Yellow Envelope Act"? The "Yellow Envelope Act", set to take effect in March 2026 , is a proposed legislation that aims to provide stronger legal safeguards for migrant workers, who have long faced gaps in protection, job insecurity, and harsh working environments. The government maintained its position despite strong pressure from major business lobbies - the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Backed by labor rights advocates, the Yellow Envelope Act is set to tackle long-standing inequalities in Korea’s labor system and push the country toward fairer, more inclusive workplace policies. On August 24, 2025, South Korea’s parliament made a big move by passing this groundbreaking law, rooted in a powerful 2014 movement where everyday people showed solidarity with striking workers. New protections The Act strengthens union rights and protects all workers—including migrants—from unfair lawsuits and retaliation. For years, foreign workers in Korea have faced grueling hours, limited protections, and little way to fight back against exploitation. Now, with this amendment to the Trade Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act (TULRAA), more workers—including migrants—can organize and demand fair treatment. This is especially important as Korea’s shrinking birth rate means the country relies more than ever on foreign workers. In fact, foreign workers now make up over 5% of the workforce, and that number is expected to grow as K-culture’s global popularity continues to soar. To support a smooth transition, the government will release detailed manuals for employers and employees, outlining rights, responsibilities, and procedures under the new law.
