This was due to North Korea having launched a reconnaissance satellite (space launch vehicle) in the direction of South Korea as well as Japan. The disturbing electronic text that all Seoul citizens received was this: Despite this troubling news, many Seoul citizens seemed undeterred from their everyday routines and carried on with their day. Ten minutes after the first text, a new alert was issued clarifying the first text was a "false alarm" and had been sent by mistake. It is true that recently, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has been issuing many "false alarm" texts therefore the reaction to Seoul citizens doesn't seem that strange. Korean summers are known for being notoriously hot, here at Dojeon Media we have short-listed the top three Korean foods that you must try! Now, with the summer season kicking into action, I have listed three of the many Korean summer foods that you really should try, whether you are living in Korea or simply visiting. As you may know, Korean summers can get VERY hot, especially in Daegu which the Koreans name it (Dafrica) as it's simply dry and hot because of its beautiful mountain surroundings. 1. Patbingsu (팥빙수) Now before I tried this for the first time, I thought that it might taste like ice cream, though I realized that it was nothing like that. It's known for it's shaved ice toppings and either red bean or fruits, both of which are typically served with condensed milk for extra sweetness or candy depending on what option you choose. Though you can get individual portions, it is something that is usually served as a sharing size and I think that makes it such a more enjoyable social experience. My favorite has to be the mango flavor, and the shaved ice treat will definitely leave you feeling refreshed this summer! 2. Naengmyeon ( 냉면) Now if you have not heard of naengmyeon, you will very quickly when you are in Korea, especially in the summer. This dish is a cold noodle dish. It is made of buckwheat, potato, and sweet potato flour, and it is usually made with a beef broth with ice, vegetables, pear, and slices of meat, topped with a boiled egg. That said, nowadays this is one of the most popular summer dishes but its origins are from North Korea, where it was not strictly prepared during the summer but also during the winter. For me, this dish screams everything about summer in Korea and it can usually be found everywhere for a reasonable price. 3. Samgyetang ( 삼계탕) Now, Samgyetang is probably the most famous of the summer foods I have listed in this article, and for good reason. Now, I love chicken, and this hot chicken broth packs a punch of different flavors, which are said to keep you cool during the Korean summer. I have also tried making this famous dish at a cooking class about two years ago, and the whole baby chicken which is the star feature of this dish, boils to the bone and then soaks in all of the other ingredients. A Turkish soldier saved a little Korean girl in 1950, and a Korean soldier saved a little Turkish girl in 2023! South Korea sent rescue workers of 118 members to Turkey on February 11, 2023 from a disaster relief team to unload relief supplies from an Air Force KC-330 military tanker aircraft according to YONHAP. 118 first-team members, including 43 soldiers from the Korea Emergency Relief Unit Special Forces, were dispatched to rescue/relief activities for earthquake damage in Turkiye, returned from their duties on the morning of the 18th. Even Korean celebrities donated to help victims of the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria! A photo was taken where a Korean soldier helped a little Turkish girl by giving her some water, and another Korean solider helped another Korean girl from an apartment from failing. These photos received a lot of attention on social media and reminded us that time repeats itself, such as the story in 1950 of the Turkish soldier father of the Korean war orphan! Sergeant Süleyman was one of the soldiers serving as a sergeant fighting in Korea in a brigade, he found a little girl wandering alone and her mother and father were murdered on the battlefield. The orphan girl "Eun-ja Kim", giving her the Turkish name "Ayla", was cared by him for more than a year and a half, she even learned Turkish in this short time! He was a father to her until he was shipped back to Turkey and she was sent to an orphanage. The Dutch Newspaper, Overijsselsch Dagblad 22-02-1952 posted : ” Korean refugee child has stolen the hearts of the members of the Turkish army in Korea. The girl's name is Ayla and she tries to spread some happiness with a smile among the fighting Turkish troops, who have adopted her” ● Do you know anything about Ayla's movie? 🎬 #Ayla's story was made into a Turkish movie, amidst the ravages of the Korean War, Sergeant Süleyman risks his own life to save Eun-ja Kim. Set during the Korean war in 1950, the film tells the story of a Turkish soldier, Sergeant Süleyman who comes across an abandoned 5-year-old girl on a freezing cold night. " I can't tell you how much I cried when I heard on the phone that a TV programmer was calling my father we're calling Ayla, as a result, luck favored us in 2010 and my father came to Korea to meet me, my happiness at that moment cannot be explained again " She told her life story and how she met her father, but she was very sad about his condition because he was very sick back then. She kept searching for him till they met again She was his only daughter After introducing her to his wife, and she introduced him to her children, he found out that her husband also passed away. It was a sad emotional time.
