  • 5 K-Drama Actors Who Have Excelled at Playing Similar Roles More Than Once

Hwang In Youp and Lee Min Ho in a still from True Beauty and Boys Over Flowers (Images via tvN and KBS2). Some K-drama actors have mastered certain roles so perfectly that it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing them. There are times when an actor ends up portraying a similar type of character more than once—roles that become so iconic they shape the actor’s identity and career. Over time, these performances become a defining part of their filmography, with fans instantly associating them with that particular persona. We spotlight five actors who have consistently excelled at playing a similar role multiple times. 1. Yoo Yeon Seok – Hospital Playlist, Dr. Romantic  (Doctor); Warm and Cozy, Tastefully Your s (Chef) The official poster for Hospital Playlist (Image via tvN). There’s no denying that Yoo Yeon Seok is an immensely talented actor with a career spanning nearly two decades. While he has played a wide range of characters, long-time K-drama fans often associate him with his standout doctor roles in Dr. Romantic  and Hospital Playlist . Though both characters are doctors, they couldn't be more different—Dr. Kang Dong Joo in Dr. Romantic  is intense, angry, and rebellious, while Dr. Ahn Jeong Won in Hospital Playlist  is gentle, warm, and deeply compassionate. Yoo Yeon Seok portrayed both with remarkable nuance and conviction. He’s also taken on the role of a chef more than once. In Warm and Cozy , he charmed viewers as the sweet and laid-back Baek Gun Woo. More recently, in a cameo for Tastefully Yours , he surprised fans by playing Jeon Min, a cunning, grey-shaded character in a chef’s coat. Whether he’s saving lives or serving food, Yoo Yeon Seok proves time and again that he's a master of his craft. 2. Nam Joo Hyuk – Who Are You: School 2015 and Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo  (Swimmer) The official poster for Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (Image via MBC). Nam Joo Hyuk might as well qualify for the Olympics at this point! The rising star took on the role of a swimmer in two back-to-back dramas and brought a distinct charm to each character. In Who Are You: School 2015 , he played Han Yi An—the cool, composed heartthrob of the school, reserved but emotionally intense. In contrast, his portrayal of Jung Joon Hyung in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo  showed off his playful, outgoing side — still a campus heartthrob, but full of energy, mischief, and warmth. Nam Joo Hyuk delivered both roles with charisma and nuance, proving he’s more than just a pretty face—he’s got real acting chops too. 3. Hwang In Youp – 18 Again, True Beauty, Why Her, Family by Choice  (Student) The official poster for True Beauty (Image via tvN). It's hard to believe that Hwang In Youp is 34 years old, given his youthful appearance and frequent portrayal of high school students in his dramas. To his credit, he brings nuance to these roles—whether as a troubled bully, a charming heartthrob pining for his ex-best friend’s girl, a lovestruck teen enamored with an older woman, or a student falling for his close friend. While his performances have been consistently strong, some fans are eager to see him break free from the "handsome schoolboy" mold and take on more diverse and mature roles. 4. Lee Min Ho – Boys Over Flowers and The Heirs  (Rich, Arrogant Boy) The official poster for The Heirs (Image via SBS). Lee Min Ho has often been typecast as the quintessential rich, arrogant boy who falls for a feisty, less privileged girl—a trope he notably portrayed in Boys Over Flowers  and The Heirs . Interestingly, these two dramas, despite the repetitive character arc, are among the biggest hits of his career and played a significant role in catapulting him to global stardom. While the "rich, arrogant boy" image may have defined the early phase of his career, Lee Min Ho has since expanded his repertoire, taking on a wider range of roles that highlight his growth and versatility as an actor. 5. Ji Chang Wook – Healer and The K2  (Secret Agent/Action Hero) The official poster for Healer (Image via KBS2). If you’re looking for a good-looking action hero with secret agent vibes, Ji Chang Wook is the perfect choice. With strong acting, good looks, and a fit physique, he excels in roles where he undertakes challenging missions and protects the woman he loves. In Healer , he plays a mysterious night courier deliveryman with a hidden identity, involved in secret missions. In The K2 , Ji Chang Wook plays a former soldier turned bodyguard, entangled in political intrigue and a quest for personal vengeance, who needs a superhero when you've got him? It’s worth noting that many contemporary female actors in K-dramas have taken on a wider variety of roles and shown more range in their careers. This may be partly influenced by the fact that a significant number of K-dramas are written by female screenwriters, who often create more complex and diverse roles for women. While this doesn’t mean male actors lack versatility, it does highlight an interesting dynamic in how roles are written and cast in the K-drama industry. All the K-dramas mentioned above are available on popular streaming platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and Viki. Which K-drama actor do you think nailed their role? Let us know in the comments below! #LeeMinHo #TheHeirs #BoysOverFlowers #YooYeonSeok #DrRomantic #HospitalPlaylist #WarmandCozy #TastefullyYours #JiChangWook #Healer #TheK2 #HwangInYoup #18Again, #TrueBeauty, #WhyHer, #FamilybyChoice #NamJooHyuk #WeightliftingFairyKimBokJoo #WhoAreYouSchool2015 #Kdramas

  • 6 Emotional K-Dramas Perfect for a Cathartic Cry

The official posters for Reply 1988 and When Life Gives You Tangerines (Images via IMDb). Everyone has a different definition of healing . For some, it’s laughing until their stomachs hurt and involuntary tears threaten to spill from their eyes. For others, it’s sitting in silence—meditating, soaking in the warmth of the sun, the chill of winter mornings, the rain-drenched evenings, or the gentle quiet of somber nights. And for many, healing means crying. Tears can be an emotional catharsis for the soul, and for the skincare enthusiasts, they even leave behind a natural glow and a soft blush across the face. That’s why we’ve rounded up six K-dramas that are perfect for a good cry—because once in a while, we all need to let it out. 1. When Life Gives You Tangerines  (2025) The official trailer for When Life Gives You Tangerines (Video via Netflix). Undoubtedly the best drama of the year so far, When Life Gives You Tangerines  fits the bill of a perfect K-drama: a talented cast, a compelling story, emotionally resonant world-building, and moments that not only tug at your heartstrings but will also leave you in tears (trust us, keep tissues handy). This is the kind of drama that makes you want to rush to your parents’ room in the middle of the night, curl up between them, and feel lucky to have them in your life—grateful for all the sacrifices they’ve made. 2. Pachinko  (2022) The official trailer for Pachinko (Video via Apple TV+) A sweeping saga chronicling the life of Sunja (played by Kim Min-ha and Youn Yuh-jung ) during the era of Japanese rule in Korea. Pachinko   is as much about Sunja’s journey—from her youth to her old age—as it is about a nation’s history of strength, grace, and resilience. It’s the kind of drama that lingers with you long after the final episode, moving you to tears at regular intervals and leaving you grateful for the life you live today, and for the sacrifices your ancestors and older generations made to give it to you. 3. Twenty-Five Twenty-One  (2022) The official trailer for Twenty-Five Twenty-One (Video via Netflix). Set in the vibrant backdrop of the 90s, Twenty-Five Twenty-One  is a mixtape of unforgettable firsts—youth, friendship, sports, first love, and first heartbreak—all woven into a heartfelt drama. It follows the story of five friends as they navigate high school dilemmas, peer pressure, big dreams, crushing heartbreaks, and love that once felt destined to last forever. The ending may have broken many hearts, but at Dojeon Media, we see it as a reminder that sometimes things don’t go the way we wish—and that’s okay. What matters are the beautiful memories that last a lifetime. Twenty-Five Twenty-One  is both cathartic and healing—a must-watch! 4. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha  (2021) The official trailer for Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (Video via Netflix). Sometimes catharsis comes in the form of a well-packaged rom-com. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha   is a sweet, heartwarming, and healing drama disguised as a fun, frothy romantic comedy, starring the effortlessly charming Kim Seon-ho and Shin Min-ah . The story follows two complete opposites who clash from the very first moment they meet, but over time, they begin to see the emotional complexities and vulnerabilities in each other. As they fall in love, they also help one another heal. This drama is a gentle reminder that we should never judge a book by its cover—because we never truly know the battles someone else is fighting. 5. Moment at Eighteen (At Eighteen)  (2019) The official trailer for At Eighteen (Video via Iflix Malaysia). Eighteen is an age that’s both thrilling and terrifying. It’s the first step toward adulthood—leaving behind the comfort of childhood and the rebelliousness of the teenage years—to step into a world of responsibility, growth, and maturity. At Eighteen   beautifully captures this transitional phase, following a group of students as they navigate school life, explore their identities, form friendships, deal with grades and career pressures, experience crushes, and face the daunting reality of growing up. With a talented cast including Ong Seong-wu , Kim Hyang-gi , Shin Seung-ho , and the late Moonbin , At Eighteen  is relatable, cathartic, and deeply moving. And if the story doesn’t bring tears to your eyes, the OST certainly will. 6. Reply 1988  (2015) The official trailer of Reply 1988 (Video via Viu Philippines), Often considered the sister drama to Twenty-Five Twenty-One , Reply 1988  explores similar themes of friendship, love, and growing up—but set against the quieter, evolving backdrop of the 1980s, rather than the nostalgic 1990s. The series follows a close-knit group of childhood friends, who have known each other since they were in diapers and grow together from kids into adults, all through the perspective of Sung Deok-sun ( Hyeri ). Through their interpersonal dynamics, shared dreams, romances, and unbreakable friendships, Reply 1988  creates a world so warm and familiar that you’ll wish you had a time machine just to spend a day in the lively neighborhood of Ssangmun-dong, Dobong district, Seoul. It’s a drama that will leave you in tears—in the most bittersweet, heartwarming way. Which of these dramas is your go-to for a good cry? • Who Died in "Weak Hero Class 2"? Full Ending Explained!

Weak Hero Class 2 Ending Explained! Weak Hero Class 2  raised the bar even higher, delivering an intense and emotional sequel that surpassed the first season . Staying true to the core themes, the director cleverly connected both seasons through parallels and deeper character growth. While Season 1 had a heavy, somber tone focusing on Si Eun’s quiet fight, Season 2 finally allowed Si Eun to heal. Si Eun realized that not everything was his fault or something he could control. Instead of running away, he chose to stay, standing strong with his new friends and Su Ho. Weak Hero Class Season 2 still (Credits: Netflix) Weak Hero Class 2 Ending Explained (Spoilers!) The final episode of Weak Hero Class 2  led to a fierce battle between Eunjang High School and the Union Gang. The deal was simple — if Eunjang High School won, Baek Jin's Union would have to disband. Weak Hero Class Season 2 still (Credits: Netflix) Throughout the season, it was hinted that Baek Jin was once a close childhood friend of Baku (Park Hu Min). Baku taught Baek Jin how to fight, as Baek Jin was bullied in middle school. However, while Baku stayed on the right path, Baek Jin fell deeper into the underworld, building an empire of illegal businesses using high schoolers. The exact fallout between them remains a mystery — possibly a story saved for a potential Season 3. In the final fight, Baku attacks Baek Jin’s arm, followed by Si Eun striking his leg. With Baek Jin weakened, Baku lands a decisive blow. Eunjang High School wins, and peace returns. The boys — Si Eun, Baku, Go Tak, and Jun Tae — finally find comfort, smiling and sleeping on the bus ride home. Eunjong High transforms into a peaceful place once again. Weak Hero Class Season 2 still (Credits: Netflix) Su Ho’s Return A heartwarming moment awaited fans as Si Eun rushed to the hospital after receiving a call. There, he saw Su Ho awake and sitting in a wheelchair. When Si Eun introduced his new friends, Su Ho smiled and said, "That's awesome", marking a beautiful end to their story arc, for now. Weak Hero Class Season 2 still (Credits: Netflix) The Shocking Post-Credit Scene The post-credit scene dropped a major twist! Seung Jae, a side character, was seen talking with an underground gang CEO about replacing Baek Jin. Although Seung Jae seemed to reject the offer, it left room for doubt. The real shock came when the scene shifted to a funeral home. The four boys were seen crying in front of Baek Jin’s portrait, confirming his death. But the circumstances remain unclear. Was it suicide after realizing his mistakes? Was he killed by someone else? Or could Baek Jin have faked his death? The drama left fans on a massive cliffhanger, opening endless theories and discussions. Will There Be Weak Hero Class 3? Given how much was left untold — Baek Jin and Baku’s full story, Baek Jin’s real fate, and missing webtoon arcs — a Season 3 feels almost certain. Fans are especially hoping to see Su Ho ( Choi Hyun Wook ) officially rejoin the Weak Hero Class  team once again. Until then, we wait eagerly! Stay tuned for more updates on Weak Hero Class 3 and don’t miss out on the latest K-drama news! #FinaleExplained #EndingExplained #WeakHeroClass2
