So what is the new system all about? This new system will come as part of a newly modified package called 'Face Pass', and it will debut at a TWS fan meeting in February 2025, with the overall aim of streamlining the entry process to the venue. This new system is part of a collaboration with Toss and InterparkTriple in order to stop ticket touts and the re-selling of tickets through biometric verification. Not everybody is happy! Following this news, members of the K-pop community have expressed their outrage and overall opinions on the new facial recognition technology which will soon come into play. One of the main concerns is data privacy, and the collection of biometric data, which also leads to broader concerns about the information that HYBE and their collaboratives partners will have, and how the information will be used and if it will be sold. HYBE will need to address these privacy concerns as it moves forward with their face pass system. People have been quick to take to social media in order to express their outrage on this new system. Not all musicians agree The fast development of Face Pass represents part of a growing trend in the entertainment industry both in Korea and abroad, where venues and organizers are turning to automated technology in their venues in order to gain control. The highly anticipated, and highly tense Korean drama Squid Game is back for season 2. So what has been the global reaction so far? And what has happened in Episode 1? We have the scoop! Image: Netflix SPOILERS! The start of season two, was definitely not holding back when it comes to making us want to cover our eyes, due to the intensity of the show. "Bread and Lottery" which is the title of episode 1, was a highly tense but great episode, to establish everything that has been going on in Seong Gi Huns life aka player 456 for the past few years, since season one, and as we saw, it has not been the greatest few years for the player. Season two started where season one left off, and with Gi Hun showcasing his red hair, walking through the airport terminal, this cemented his place as the front man, hopefully enabling him to take the life of death game down once and for all. The moment, where he was changing, taking the chip out and with the young boy walking on on him naked, was also pretty hilarious. Image: Netflix As the show moved on, the main hero had also been looking for a recruiter for the past two years, knowing that is how he will get access to the front man of the show once again, and it is also a little ironic that the loan shark, Mr. Kim, who was after him and roughed him up back in the first episode of season one, is now the guy helping him now. With an astonishing cash prize of ₩45.6 billion, he has now hired him to search every train station in order to find new desperate contestants to sign up to play the deadly game. Without a doubt, the plan from these guys is very good, and it just goes to highlight how much of a motivator money really is for the majority of people. We also get to see how much it is messed up when one of them buys a loaf of bread and lottery tickets, hence the name of the episode. This is the daily life of a Squid Game recruiter? Let's take a look at some of the best scenes! SPOILER!! Our thoughts An important contrast is not just the color, but also the characters and their performance. Gong Yoo , as we can see is as demonic as the Recruiter, with eyes gleaming with cruelty and joy, and a sarcastic grin at times, but if you noticed his voice did not skip a beat when he said that he killed his own father, but instead the show shone him in a light with his mouth gaping open as he loaded a barrel into the gun before pulling the trigger. Meanwhile Lee Jung Jae retained a more grief and guilt ridden look, having gained knowledge of the horror story, and of course. under the rules it is a dead or alive game. Image: Netflix Still, my heart could still not help but skip multiple beats, when they played a very dangerous version of rock paper scissors, and the Recruiter and his boss had the obvious classical music playing in the background. The intensity of the show is not over yet, and rather it is just beginning, and this time it is between player 456 and the Recruiter. As we know so far, Gi Hun is not going to lose the game, and this goes back into the games that we know so far. That said, the show does make your heart start racing and it is interesting to see how nothing really frightens Gi Hun anymore, compared to season one. It is obvious that competing in season one would shape a person differently, and that is exactly what appears to have happened to him. Overall, this was a really strong premiere episode, and it has set everything up nicely, these playground games have of course been going on for years, and the fact that this deadly syndicate of investors, have not been caught yet, shows that they know how to hide and be discreet. Its interesting that the city have chosen to use this for it's major attractions. For 2024 , the streets of Seoul saw a "Sky Corral" color light the sky at night, and the colors which are chose for selection each year are done so with in-depth analyzing through the daily lives and interests of citizens, through searching keywords like culture, entertainment, technology among others. We have previously seen some LED displayed Aurora lights, which have swept across the capital, as 2024 experienced a longer summer, and in parts of Europe and the UK the green aurora could be seen which was a rarity. Our Thoughts Coming from the UK, many of the street lights are turned off or dimmed down at night time these days, compared to five or six years ago, in order to save money and electricity for local Governments. So I believe that what Seoul Metropolitan Government are doing, is a great thing for the welfare and quality of live of it's citizens. What social media is saying! Old school Korean children's games are gaining global recognition after appearing in season 2 of Squid Game , lets take a look at some of them ! With Squid Game season two taking the world by storm, audiences throughout the globe have been guessing which children's games might come into play during the new highly anticipated season. As we seen in season one impoverished Koreans compete in children's games in order to win money, however if they lose the games, they die! Number Matching Number Matching is a popular children's game, which is often seen being played in school playgrounds. For this game, players need to join their hands in order to form a circle and spin around while singing a song. Sounds fun right? Well not so much in Squid Game , since players get eliminated if they are not good enough. The series showcases this where contestants board a massive merry-go-round first and must quickly form groups of the correct number in order to claim limited spots in secure booths. This game is a test of bonds, humanity and even among family members. Jegichagi This game is more on the traditional side, and it is a Korean game played with a Jegi. This is similar to that of a shuttlecock typically used in badminton. The original way is to wrap a coin in a cloth and attach strings to it, although in more modern times Jegi often has a metal core and colorful plastic strings around it, and most Koreans like to play this game around New Year. Paengichigi A past time game which has now moved to it's way to global screens, and a game that involves skilfully spinning a top on ice using a whip like action. In Squid Game , the contestants are shown in a triangular top operated with string, a modern version of the game, which was more popular in the late 80s and early 90s. The aim of the game is to wrap the string around the top and release it to set it spinning. Will the contestants be able to work under pressure? Gonggi This popular game is a game using five or so small pebbles or in more modern times plastic colorful stones! It is a game played by scattering the stones on the ground, tossing one into the air and catching the others before the stone up in the air lands on the ground. The game progresses to catching more than one stone at the same time and the final stage of the game will involve contestants catching multiple stones simultaneously having thrown all five stones into the air. That's not all, players must also balance them on the back of one hand and then toss them back into the air and catch them again. A game of skill and patience is involved! Biseokchigi This is another stone throwing game with a long history, and the goal of the game is to toss your own stone to hit and knock over the other players, from a distance of 2.5 - 3 meters.
