Discover the comforting flavors, street snacks, and traditional dishes that define fall in Korea. Let's take a look at how to enjoy these amazing goodies during Korea's best travel season!

Let's be honest, Koreans love food, and Autumn is the perfect season for it. Since the weather is noticeably cooler than summer, and along with Chuseok being the longest holiday this year, it is a great season for enjoying various seafood dishes, mouth-watering foods, and fruits, along with warming drinks.
Gun Goguma (Roasted Sweet Potatoes)
This is a classic Korean snack that will be easy to find no matter where you are in Korea. This street food is also sold in many convenience stores. These warm roasted sweet potatoes are perfect for a cool day or crisp autumn evening.

Street vendors, often with the small red tent-like awning, can be found on most street corners roasting the sweet potatoes over drum barrels, which softens the skin and steams in the inside. If you buy them, then you will notice that they are sometimes sold in brown paper bags or newspapers, which is the traditional way to eat them.
Gotgam (Dried Persimmons)

Autumn, when the ripe persimmons take over the supermarket shelves for several weeks. Not only this, but these treats have an intense flavor when it comes to the sugar content. These dried persimmons are a great snack, or if you're feeling it, you can have them with a tea. For some Koreans, they are enjoyed as part of a dessert often found wrapped in nuts, which helps to symbolize Chuseok. For some, these often look similar to an orange, though they are firmer to eat.
Yuja Cha (Citron Tea)
This is Dojeon Media's team member, Lewis Hooper's, favorite autumn drink! To put it simply, this soothing drink can be drunk over ice or hot; either way is perfectly fine, and this delicious drink can be found in most coffee shops throughout Korea all year round.

This tea is also high in Vitamin C, which is great for wellness, and the tangy-sweet taste wards away colds, which are also too common at this time of year.
Gunbam (Roasted Chestnuts)
Another simple but traditional snack, are roasted chestnuts, which can be found on pretty much every street corner in Korea during this time of year. Vendors roast them in large metal drums, and they are often sold in brown paper bags as well.
The sweet nutty aroma fills the air, and when you bite inside of them, well the soft and buttery texture and sweetness is an addictive and irresistible snack. The Dojeon team loves this snack, as it is an affordable easy to eat on the go treat.
Baesuk (Steamed Pear Drink)
Alright, so this steamed pear drink is amazing! Not only can you taste ginger, cinnamon and honey, but Baesuk also has a fragrant and slightly sweet taste as well. This drink in the past was used as a traditional remedy to help cure sore throats and coughs, thanks to its sweet and delicious flavors, not to mention, that these ingredients are perfect when it comes to digestion and supporting the immune system.
