Seoul’s iconic landmark was transformed into a neon-soaked masterpiece—and the surprise tracks nobody saw coming are officially breaking the internet. Here are the must knows!
BTS officially reclaimed their throne at the top of the K-pop industry charts with a historic live-streamed performance watched by millions worldwide. Their highly anticipated comeback performance turned the very heart of Seoul into a global stage.
This performance marked their first performance as a full group post-military service. Their ARIRANG comeback proved that the icons are back and more powerful than ever. Let's take a deep dive into their set list.
The Setlist
The team at Dojeon Media absolutely loved their comeback setlist! Right from the moment the BTS members walked out on stage, the energy was amazing! The high-energy set opened with their brand-new live debut of "Body to Body," followed by a string of high-energy new hits including "Hooligan," "2.0," "Aliens," "FYA," "SWIM," "Like Animals," and "NORMAL".
This moment was, of course, all about promoting their brand-new album to the world, and what a way to go about it! A clever move was, of course, to add in their classic global anthems. "Butter," "MIC Drop," "Dynamite," and a deeply sentimental closing of "Mikrokosmos" saw the entire square illuminated in purple in the name of ARMY. This set list was simply awesome!
Why These Songs?
The set list was incredible; the question for Dojeon Media that stands out is: why these songs?
Actually, the tracks that were selected from their new album ARIRANG were chosen to promote the "BTS 2.0" era. BTS 2.0 is set to blend traditional Korean motifs with a slightly more modern identity. By pairing these experimental new sounds with record-breaking English hits, the group bridged their storied past with a bold, redefined future, especially in the saturated market of K-pop.
The Dojeon Media team also believes that by pairing these experimental tracks to a live audience for the first time, alongside their already well-known English hits, it allows the group to bridge their past stories with a more redefined and grown-up future. For us, each track felt intentionally chosen to reflect their journey from their rookie days to global cultural ambassadors, whom the entire world knows! The fact that they used Gwanghwamun as a symbolic backdrop is simply iconic.
The Visual Spectacle
The visual spectacle at the standalone show was out of this world. The Dojeon team really loved the open cube stage design, which made sure that Gwanghwamun Gate remained the focal point of the show.
Also, we loved the fact that the backdrop framed the members against centuries of Korean history, as it also served as a landmark as well. The fact that such a large-scale performance in the center of Seoul happened really just shows the high-tech blend of old and new.
The setlist amplified this atmosphere by timing the heavy hip-hop beats of "Hooligan" and "2.0" to strobe lighting that synced with the Gyeongbokgung architecture, which just looked magical. During the closing of "Mikrokosmos," the song's soaring melody provided the perfect emotional ending for the thousands of ARMY as the sky was painted purple.
ARMY Reaction
Global ARMY, many of whom attended the show themselves, got to experience a once-in-a-lifetime show. 18.4 million viewers tuned in worldwide on Netflix, while the lucky ones who managed to snatch up a ticket got to light the square full of purple lights. Social media also exploded with emotional tributes, with fans praising the group's unwavering chemistry and the symbolic "King's Path" entrance from Gyeongbok Palace.
Final Thoughts
This comeback show was more than an ordinary concert. It was, in fact, a cultural and iconic comeback show that very few bands or performers ever get to experience. BTS
BTS remains the definitive voice of a generation for many young Koreans and global fans. As the purple lights faded over Seoul, one thing was clear—the wait was long, but the return was legendary, and we cannot wait to see how their world tour turns out later this year!
