One thing many people know about South Korea, except for K-pop and K-drama of course, are huge tech companies like Samsung, LG, Kakao, and many more. Korea has seamlessly integrated innovation and technology into everyday life. We highlight some of the most popular innovations/technologies that Koreans use that will blow you away!

Crazy fast internet, the newest smartphones, and AI. These are just some of the everyday technologies that you will use in your daily life in South Korea. They not only help blend a sense of tradition but also define the modern Korea we have all got to know and love.
Internet

The Internet is a way of life in Korea. In fact, Korea boasts one of the fastest and most reliable internet connections in the world, making it possible to stream high-definition videos, attend video classes, and use other online services without buffering issues.
You are also able to access countless free WIFI servers, on the subway, and even in the countryside, which is fantastic!
Door Locks

Door locks, although they might not sound that interesting, have helped to change my vision since living in South Korea. They are easy to use, and they mean that you do not have to carry a key around with you, so there is no risk of being locked out! Some door locks, also enable you to check who is at the door, by using a camera or a speaker similar to a ring door bell without the recording function, due to Koreas tough privacy laws.
Cash is not King

Unlike other Asian countries, Korea is not big on cash, which means you also don't have to worry about forgetting or losing your wallet. Cashless payments have paved the way to shop and dine in Korea, and most stores and small businesses also enable customers to make an online transfer, along with Samsung, Kakao and Apply-pay.
Transportation

Traveling through Korea could not be easier. This is all thanks for advanced public transportation systems, which make the daily grind which is the commute so much easier. High speed trains connect the country, and offer an affordable price, buses and subways also tend to be eco-friendly and enable commuters to access their free WIFI systems, and nowadays most buses are cashless.
The T-money card, a contactless smart card, is my daily companion, allowing me to not just easily take the subway or bus, to transfer between different modes of transport or explore the vibrant neighborhoods in Korea, I can also use it as a payment method in taxis and most convenience stores.
Unmanned stores

As a European one of the most surprising things, I saw in Korea is the concept of unmanned stores. Convenience stores, ramen restaurants, pet food, ice cream, fresh meat or vegetable stores are often seen without any employees.
Instead they use a lot of CCTV Cameras, digital kiosks and special sensors allow me to enter, browse, and purchase items without any human interaction. Absolute heaven for introverts or days of low social energy. And even normally manned stores use those digital kiosks a lot these days, making it easy to order in English.
