My evening at Sky Lounge in the Lotte Hotel Seoul was an absolutely captivating escape, one I'll replay in my mind for ages. Nestled on the top floor, the panoramic view of Seoul transformed with every passing moment, painting the perfect, vibrant backdrop for our meal. The authentic Italian cuisine, crafted by a skilled Italian chef and proudly holding the OSPITALITA ITALIANA certification, was nothing short of divine – each bite a testament to true culinary artistry, and something that I appreciate when I have the chance to enjoy the finer things in life, which I believe is important from time to time.
As the sun went down, the lounge bathed in the city's glow, making every sip of our expertly selected cocktails and fine wines feel like pure magic. It's easy to see why Sky Lounge earned its spot as Dojeon's August Restaurant of the Month; it's an experience that truly redefines dining in Seoul.
Stepping into the Lotte Hotel Seoul, I was immediately struck by its polished, upscale vibe. It definitely set a high bar, and I was eager to see if the Sky Lounge lived up to the hype for a casual dinner with my friends. The elevator ride up felt quick, and the doors opening to that top-floor view was genuinely impressive in itself to be honest.
The panoramic view of Seoul at night was just as advertised – absolutely stunning. The city lights stretched out endlessly, a truly mesmerizing backdrop. The lounge itself felt sophisticated but comfortable, not stuffy. There was a nice hum of conversation, soft music, and a general buzz that felt just right for a relaxed evening. Since I have worked hard recently, and I have always been interested in roof top bars and restaurants, when I was presented with the opportunity to come here it was a no brainer for me. Also, since I have been in Korea now for over 5 years, I have never actually been to a rooftop which for me is surprising.
Every dish felt authentic and thoughtfully prepared; you could tell the chef knew what they were doing. It hit the spot. As the night went on, and the city shimmered below, we dipped into their cocktail and wine list. The sommelier's suggestions were spot-on, making each drink feel like a perfect complement to the meal and the company. The menu was very simple, which is great as this means that the quality of the food on offer is a lot higher, as opposed to having a seven-page menu. The menu was also written in English and Korean, which was useful too.
What made the evening truly great, though, wasn't just the incredible view or the delicious food, but how smoothly everything ran. The staff were attentive without hovering, always there when we needed something, but otherwise letting us enjoy our conversation. It felt like a genuinely luxurious yet effortless experience. The level of the quality of the food was great, and each dish really elevated my mouth with the flavors that were presented to me, of course the soup, puree, and fish were incredible. Leaving the Sky Lounge, I wasn't just full and content; I had that feeling of having treated ourselves to a fantastic evening out in Seoul, and a place that I would thoroughly recommend!
