Certain wins sparked debate, with many feeling that other nominees were just as deserving. Here, we highlight six Baeksang Awards snubs from the 2025 ceremony — moments where the award could have easily gone to someone else.  Note: This list isn’t meant to discredit the winners but rather to spotlight other outstanding performances and works that were equally worthy of recognition. Best Drama - When Life Gives You Tangerines The official poster for When Life Gives You Tangerines (Image via Netflix). Who else deserved it: Lovely Runner There’s no denying that When Life Gives You Tangerines   is a beautifully crafted and emotionally moving drama. However, Lovely Runner , starring Byeon Woo Seok  and Kim Hye Yoon , could have easily taken home the award as well. The drama resonated deeply with audiences with its heartfelt storytelling, sensitive portrayal of mental health, and standout performances. Romantic dramas rarely receive top honors at major award shows, but Lovely Runner  broke through cultural barriers and had a significant global impact, making it a worthy contender for the win.    Best Actor – Ju Ji Hoon: The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call Ju Ji Hoon in a still from The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call . (Image credits: Netflix) Who else deserved it: Han Suk Kyu - Doubt There’s no doubt that Ju Ji Hoon  delivered a powerful performance as trauma specialist Baek Kang Hyuk. However, Han Suk Kyu was equally exceptional in Doubt , portraying top criminal profiler Jang Tae Su - a single father whose world is shaken when he suspects his daughter’s involvement in a case he's investigating. The role demanded emotional depth, restraint, and moral complexity, and Han Suk Kyu rose to the challenge with the finesse only a veteran actor can bring. Doubt  showcased his decades-long mastery of the craft, making him a strong contender for the award. Best Actress – Kim Tae Ri: Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born Kim Tae Ri in a still from Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born (Image Credits: tvN) Who else deserved it: IU - When Life Gives You Tangerines Kim Tae Ri  continues to prove she’s one of the most accomplished actresses of her generation, delivering a powerful and emotionally rich performance in Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born . However, many fans were disappointed that  IU  did not take the award home. In When Life Gives You Tangerines , she portrayed both the mother and daughter versions of her character with exceptional depth and grace. Her performance was certainly one for the ages.  Best New Actor – Choo Young Woo: The Tale of Lady Ok  Choo Young Woo in a still from The Tale of Lady Ok (Image Credits: JTBC) Who else deserved it: Cha Woo Min - Study Group Choo Young Woo  had a standout year, impressing audiences with his performances in both The Tale of Lady Ok  and The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call . His growing range and screen presence mark him as one of the most exciting emerging talents in the Korean entertainment industry. That said, Cha Woo Min also delivered a breakout performance as the sharp and menacing Pi Han Wool in the gritty young adult drama Study Group .  His intensity and control on screen stood out, making a strong case for recognition in the Best New Actor category. Best New Actress – Chae Won Bin: Doubt Chae Won Bin in a still from Doubt  (Image Credit: MBC) Who else deserved it: Jo Yoon Soo - The Tyrant It’s an exciting era for young actresses in the Korean entertainment industry, with a wider range of complex, dynamic roles being written than ever before. Chae Won Bin delivered a strong performance in Doubt  as a daughter harboring a dark secret that threatens to unravel her bond with her father. However, Jo Yoon Soo also gave a standout performance in The Tyrant  as Chae Ja Gyeong, a cold yet compelling assassin entrusted with a critical mission. Acting alongside heavyweights like Kim Seon Ho , Kim Kang Woo, and Cha Seung Won , Jo Yoon Soo held her own with remarkable poise and presence, firmly establishing herself as a rising talent to watch. • Kim Jung Hyun & Keum Sae Rok reunite after 8 years in the new upcoming drama of love and conflicts "Iron Family"

Written by the same author of Lee Min Ho's upcoming drama Ask the Stars , Kim Jung Hyun, and Keum Sae Rok reunite after eight years in KBS2's new highly-anticipated romantic/family series Iron Family ! We give you the details of why this drama has us intrigued and has us waiting for more! Airing on September 28, 2024, Iron Family is set to be one of the must-watch K-dramas this year, and for good reason! Staring household names such as Kim Jung Hyun ( Mr. Queen 2020 — 2021) and Keum Sae Rok ( Youth of May 2021), this story of love and conflict portrays the modern hardworking Korean family at its best! Let's check out the teaser images from the drama! This story of love and conflicts follows three generations of laundry business owners and mindsets have changed over time, which should help the business adapt to modern times. The 3rd generation business takes an unexpected financial windfall (how lucky for them). The drama mainly centers around Da Rim's family ( Keum Sae Rok ) as they work through the challenges and changes that are brought to them by this sudden fate and twist. Let's check out this trailer below! Having watched the trailer, I find it funny how it is filmed, although the storyline should be easy to follow and that of a feel-good end-of-the-night drama. I think it will be interesting to see how different generations of Koreans adapt to the windfall in terms of how they view spending money, as generations have different views on how money should be spent. Synopsis Seo Kang Joo ( Kim Jung Hyun ) is the son of the wealthiest family in the Cheongreyom neighborhood and is currently the senior director of the Jiseung Group. Eight years ago, Seo Kang Joo and Lee Da Rim attended the same university and had an unforgettable experience before Kang Joo enlisted for his mandatory military service. Why we think this drama will be a hit I also think that this drama will hit home with many young Koreans, showing the generational differences. Iron Family is confirmed to premiere on KBS2 on September 28, 2024 . The show will air every Saturday and Sunday. The series will only be 36 episodes, breaking the initial rumors that the show will be a draw dropping 50 episodes long. Will you be tuning in to watch this new K-romance drama? Let us know in the comments below. #IronFamily #KimJungHyun #KeumSaeRok #BlackComedy #Family #Romance

  • So Ji Sub's New Action/Crime Thriller "Mercy for None" Seals The Deal As One Of 2025's TOP ACTION K-dramas!

Unrelenting and full of action that grabs your throat and never lets go, So Ji Sub's new action/crime series Mercy for None can be considered one of the top action-packed K-dramas of 2025! We give you 5 instances that shocked us during its premiere! Mercy for None still. (Credits: Netflix) Why this drama has us riled up (in a good way!) Right from the first episode, the action keeps pouring and doesn't stop. Not only does Mercy for None keep you on your toes, it also has a sense of mystery that keeps us wondering, "Why did Nam Gi Jun ( So Ji Sub ) leave the gang with just a cut Achilles tendon? Wouldn't they do more to him?" Also, "Who really killed his younger brother, Nam Gi Seok ( Lee Jun Hyuk )?" We give you five instances that shocked us while watching! Spoilers ahead! It gets bloodier and more bone-crunching as you watch! If you're a sucker for some serious bone-crunching action, look no further as Mercy for None sends hoards of low level gangsters to the emergency room to patch up broken limbs and stitches. We covered some action-packed K-dramas for guys in the past, but this one has to take the cake! For those of you squeamish about blood and gore, don't worry, it's not that bad. So Ji Sub is just dishing out what the bad guys give him. So Ji Sub delivers an action-packed new drama in Mercy for None (Credits: Netflix) Nothing prepared us for the dark underbelly of Seoul On his quest to find his brother's killer, Nam Gi Jun discovers "The Graveyard", an online service directed at young rebellious orphans strapped for some quick cash. He finds out that one of these "young gangsters" was paid to go to jail for attacking his brother by a company called "N Clean". What surprised us was that these individuals would rather get paid and go to jail in order to skip their mandatory military service , which many still haven't gone to yet. This process was legally acceptable, which made it even more incredulous. Lee Beom Soo as Sim Seong Won, the director of N Clean. (Credits: Netflix) Nam Gi Jun has a little of John Wick in him Watching Mercy for None gives off plenty of John Wick vibes. Want to see the main lead slice through 20 guys without breaking a sweat, no problem. As we find out, not only is Nam Gi Jun responsible for the rise to power of the Joo Woon Organization and Bong San Gang, but he's also the one who caused "trouble" in the entire underworld community (we won't spoil this one for you); therefore, cutting his Achilles tendon as a consolation prize. Nam Gi Jun oozes with John Wick vibes in the new action/crime/thriller Mercy for None . (Credits: Netflix) 4. Betrayal is the name of the game Like plenty of gang/mafia films/shows, betrayal always leads to the downfall of the top dogs. There is no exception here, except that betrayal is found in the closest of kin in Mercy for None ! We were astonished at who betrayed Gu Bong San, leader of the Bong San Gang! Twists and turns like this make this drama fun and entertaining to watch! Gu Bong San is betrayed and is forced to run (Credits: Netflix) No one is as they seem With another surprising twist thrown into the story, just when you think everything has been resolved and put back in order, this series throws another curveball! When everyone thinks these two gangs have finally finished each other off, we're shown that there is one more piece behind the puzzle, the man controlling "the game". As an undercover cop sent to infiltrate the underground world, "Mr. Kim" is actually a crooked cop who is trying to take everything for himself. With our minds blown and a fantastic finish, Mercy for None definitely takes the cake for best action K-drama of 2025! Have you seen Mercy for None yet? Leave a comment on what surprised you the most about So Ji Sub's comeback! Mercy for None is now available for streaming on Netflix with all episodes out. #MercyforNone #SoJiSub #HeoJunHo #JoHanChul #LeeJunHyuk
