Recently Dojeon team member, Lewis, attended an oriental medicine tour in Seoul to find out why oriental medicine has gained popularity in Western culture. When I attended the tour, I interviewed the owner of a traditional Korean herbal medicine company, Sungil Choi, and asked him some questions, about the tour, oriental medicine, and the training to become an oriental medical expert here in Korea. Can you please introduce yourself and the company to the readers? My name is Seongil Choi, and I am the owner of a herbal medicine business in Seoul. I have always grown up in an oriental medicine household, as since I was young my father has worked as a herbal pharmacist. Whenever I was sick as a child my father used herbal medicine to treat my illness, and this then led to my own decision to study oriental medicine for myself. Since I graduated and became certified as an oriental medicine expert, I set up my own business which focuses on an online selling platform for oriental and herbal medicine and teas, which also has won many awards. The ideas for operating tours started when I hung out with foreign friends, and I was actually shocked that they did not have any knowledge of alternative medicine and no easy way for them to learn about it. With restaurants virtually on every corner in Korea, it's never a struggle to find a place to eat. But what makes a restaurant special? What makes it stand out? In this article, Dojeon team member, Lewis, will share his favorite restaurant of June so far! Now coming from the UK, I love British classic foods from time to time, and having lived in Korea for four years, I have found it hard to get a good British classic meal. Since I was young, I have always been impressed with the Michelin star chef Gordon Ramsay, and I have watched countless episodes of his TV shows, such as Hells Kitchen , Kitchen Nightmares, Hotel Hell, and any special shows he has appeared on. So when I discovered he has his burger restaurant "Gordon Ramsay Burger" in the prestigious Lotte Tower in Seoul, I had to make a reservation! Since I made a reservation when I arrived the staff knew who I was, and we were taken to our private table. If you do not have a reservation you can show up on the day, the wait time will be significantly longer, so I recommend making a reservation. The seats were very comfortable, and the mirror design throughout the restaurant, made it feel a lot bigger than the space actually was. I also really liked the the kitchen was open fronted, so you can watch the chefs cook and prepare your food. We ordered classic burgers, and I added avocado and bacon to mine, and we also ordered parmesan fries and onion rings. When the food arrived and I cut through my burger, I could tell that this was a quality burger and the taste was AMAZING! It was cooked medium rare, which I have never had in a burger, though the server said that this is how they are cooked so I took her advice, and I was glad that I did! I took too many photos when I visited, so I have made a collage of some of the best moments for me and my family below. We all thought that the quality of the food was great, and despite it being on the expensive side for Korea it was well worth it and if we had gone for the same meal in the UK, we would have paid a lot more. I really liked the small touches with the knife on the wooden stand, and the even down to the plates and how the burger and sides were served as it put the focus on the food itself rather than having too many items on the plate, which of course the famous saying is "You eat with your eyes" which is for sure the case for us, it was worth paying more for great food and great memories! For me, the experience was great! From the attentive staff, a simple but well-presented menu, and of course the mouth-watering food I had been craving for a long time. I thought that the restaurant quality was fantastic and I will definitely be making a return visit! So for the 2024 embarkment, the boys will be holding concerts kicking off at the "Super show spin off halftime" which will be held between the dates of June 22 - 23, 2024 at the KSPO Dome , and then continuing through Asia. I have to say that the video exceeded my expectations, from the boys' outfits, and dance routines but more importantly their singing ability. I enjoyed the opening part where there was one member singing and it seemed to annoy some people due to it being too loud, I thought that this playfulness was great. I also really liked that the concept was showing the boys on a TV show setting without the cameras rolling at the start and instead getting ready to perform, as it is something that the viewers do not often get to see. Some minor rap parts on the song as well were really good as I thought it showed a more diverse side to the band which can make them stand out as well as the English lyrics that were used on and off throughout the song to help them appear to a Western audience rather than just a domestic Korean audience. BTS ARMY and K-pop fans can finally rejoice as BTS's first member, Jin , was discharged from his mandatory military service today! Check out the full video of the moment he was discharged and who was there to greet him! Met by his fellow groupmates, RM was the first to serenade him with a saxophone! The other members, who are currently in the middle of their mandatory military services, took a special leave and dramatically greeted him! There were hugs all around! Jin was discharged from the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province this morning around 10 AM KST. Take a look at the video!
