  • Dojeon Exclusive: Sunny Lukas - An Unveiling Interview! [Trending Artist!]

Uncover the inspirations, challenges, and untold stories in this intimate interview with pop/R&B sensation Sunny Lukas ! Image: Sunny Lukas - Photo: Provided by Sunny Lukas Recently, Lewis Hooper, writer and host of The Sizzle at Dojeon Media, secured an exclusive interview with rising artist Sunny Lukas . Their conversation covered the highlights and challenges artists encounter in the music industry, the pressures of social media, and also included discussions about Sunny's latest single and future projects. Let's get into it! Career and Background Sunny, you started your musical journey quite young, can you tell us about that early experience and how it shaped your decision to pursue music professionally? Sure, so honestly, I started out doing a lot of sports, and I was a huge athlete growing up. I feel that sports heavily influenced my music, since it taught me discipline and persistence, as well as the experience of performing in a match, which is similar to performing musically on stage. I feel that these skills are transferable between the two industries. I wanted to pursue music more than sports, and sports helped me gain confidence and understand that performing music on stage requires a lot of energy and rhythm. So, this is how I was able to transition into music full-time. You've built a significant following on platforms like TikTok and YouTube. How has social media influenced your career as an independent artist, both positively and negatively? Since social media is heavily influential and therefore has a lot of power over people's perceptions, this is one of the challenges that I have faced. This sometimes affects my mindset and plans for music, as it distracts me slightly and causes some insecurities, since it is easy to compare myself to the success of other artists who have more experience. That said, it has taught me to focus on doing my own thing as an independent artist, as opposed to chasing perfection. However, social media does provide new information daily and offers me a lot of insight into the music industry. TikTok did not significantly feature my music, which caused me to feel slightly disappointed, since my most viral videos on TikTok were focused on dancing rather than music, which didn't seem to do as well and therefore didn't give me the recognition that I set out for. Now, I am fully transitioning all of my social media accounts back to music, and the good side of this is that it has allowed me to learn more about myself and what I want to focus on as an artist, being able to learn from other artists and getting public feedback from my online audience. Inspiration and Influences You've mentioned Justin Bieber as a major influence. What specifically about his artistry resonates with you, and how do you see those influences reflected in your own music? For sure, Justin Bieber is my main major influence. For me, he was like the founding father, and listening to him kick-started my music career. His voice is amazing, and it made me strive for star quality, since his voice is very distinctive and he also started out in music at a young age. I feel that Justin Bieber conveys strong messages through the delivery of his voice and lyrics, and he is the best performer that I know. He has really just taught me to stay true to who I am and not lose focus. Recent Single "DEJA VU" Congratulations on your recent single, "DEJA VU". What's the story or inspiration behind this particular track? What message do you hope listeners take away from it? I had a previous single called "Nostalgic", and I always feel reminiscent about the past, looking back at what made me who I am today. The reason why I am focusing on the early 2000s is because I am now 25 years old, and the best days of my life were when I was growing up and "coming of age." "DEJA VU" brings back the memories of finding my first love, and I tried to lyrically make it relatable to the audience, since everybody experiences déjà vu from time to time. I also tried to diversify the song with more rhythmic beats as well, to allow the audience to take away the message that finding love is one of the most special feelings in the world, but not to let it distract you, and instead to self-reflect and grow from it. "SITUATIONSHIP" Your song "SITUATIONSHIP" resonates with a very common modern dating experience. Can you elaborate on what inspired you to write about this particular dynamic, and what emotions or insights did you hope to capture in the song? Honestly, this type of song had zero meaning behind it. Although some people might think that this artist has gone through a lot in the past or is a player, the truth is, I remember when I was making the song, just playing around with a bunch of chords in the studio. The first thing that came out of my mouth was, "Dynamite, girl, your body ooh like dynamite." The producer was really impressed, so we then built off of that melody, and it then evolved to "the situation." However, it needed another syllable, which is where "ship" came into the mix and ultimately made a great song. The song as a whole is about navigating yourself through the various stages of finding out what you want in love as you grow up, and about not trying to label things from friendship to love, as I feel that it restricts you. Future Plans Looking back at your journey so far, what's one piece of advice you would give to other aspiring young musicians trying to break into the industry? I think everything comes from hard work, and you really have to believe in yourself and ask yourself, "Would you do this for free?" As for me, it's all about charity, as I want to make people feel good through listening to my music. So, honestly, be open about music and don't make sacrifices if you are not comfortable, as people want to see you for who you are as an independent artist. What can we expect from Sunny Lukas shortly? Absolutely. The music videos for "DEJA VU" and "ROLE MODEL" will be released soon. Alongside this, I will be touring in the US and China, and I will also be going to the Philippines, Singapore, and Indonesia for promotional work. Towards the end of the year, you can expect my second album release. Image: Sunny Lukas DNA Music Festival - Photo: Provided by Sunny Lukas Final message Finally, Sunny, is there a closing message you'd like to share directly with your fans who have been supporting your music here in Korea and overseas? Thank you for standing by me and listening to my music. I really love Korea; I feel that there is so much heart and soul from the people, and I will also be performing a show in Korea in the near future. Jinyoung’s Picks: 4 Molton Brown Collections 🍊 Orange & Bergamot. Capturing the joy of sun-drenched streets in Seville and the happiness brought by luscious, ripe orange trees. This is the line Jinyoung highly recommends for summer! We agree with this summery choice! ⚜️ Heavenly Gingerlily. A radiant aura of lilies, warm ginger, and delicate, sensual hyacinth. One of Molton Brown’s most beloved collections, it offers a classic yet exotic mood. We really love the scent of ginger, and this warming smell is great on a colder winter's night, we have to say. 🪻 Bluebell & Wild Strawberry. The scent of a dewy forest at dawn. Subtle earthy notes from damp leaves, the sweetness of ripe wild strawberries, and shyly blooming lavender-blue bluebells create a mysterious and lush natural fragrance. 🌊 Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel. “The moment I smelled it, I felt like I was by the sea.” Jinyoung’s top pick! • So Ji Sub's New Action/Crime Thriller "Mercy for None" Seals The Deal As One Of 2025's TOP ACTION K-dramas!

Unrelenting and full of action that grabs your throat and never lets go, So Ji Sub's new action/crime series Mercy for None can be considered one of the top action-packed K-dramas of 2025! We give you 5 instances that shocked us during its premiere! Mercy for None still. (Credits: Netflix) Why this drama has us riled up (in a good way!) Right from the first episode, the action keeps pouring and doesn't stop. Not only does Mercy for None keep you on your toes, it also has a sense of mystery that keeps us wondering, "Why did Nam Gi Jun ( So Ji Sub ) leave the gang with just a cut Achilles tendon? Wouldn't they do more to him?" Also, "Who really killed his younger brother, Nam Gi Seok ( Lee Jun Hyuk )?" We give you five instances that shocked us while watching! Spoilers ahead! It gets bloodier and more bone-crunching as you watch! If you're a sucker for some serious bone-crunching action, look no further as Mercy for None sends hoards of low level gangsters to the emergency room to patch up broken limbs and stitches. We covered some action-packed K-dramas for guys in the past, but this one has to take the cake! For those of you squeamish about blood and gore, don't worry, it's not that bad. So Ji Sub is just dishing out what the bad guys give him. So Ji Sub delivers an action-packed new drama in Mercy for None (Credits: Netflix) Nothing prepared us for the dark underbelly of Seoul On his quest to find his brother's killer, Nam Gi Jun discovers "The Graveyard", an online service directed at young rebellious orphans strapped for some quick cash. He finds out that one of these "young gangsters" was paid to go to jail for attacking his brother by a company called "N Clean". What surprised us was that these individuals would rather get paid and go to jail in order to skip their mandatory military service , which many still haven't gone to yet. This process was legally acceptable, which made it even more incredulous. Lee Beom Soo as Sim Seong Won, the director of N Clean. (Credits: Netflix) Nam Gi Jun has a little of John Wick in him Watching Mercy for None gives off plenty of John Wick vibes. Want to see the main lead slice through 20 guys without breaking a sweat, no problem. As we find out, not only is Nam Gi Jun responsible for the rise to power of the Joo Woon Organization and Bong San Gang, but he's also the one who caused "trouble" in the entire underworld community (we won't spoil this one for you); therefore, cutting his Achilles tendon as a consolation prize. Nam Gi Jun oozes with John Wick vibes in the new action/crime/thriller Mercy for None . (Credits: Netflix) 4. Betrayal is the name of the game Like plenty of gang/mafia films/shows, betrayal always leads to the downfall of the top dogs. There is no exception here, except that betrayal is found in the closest of kin in Mercy for None ! We were astonished at who betrayed Gu Bong San, leader of the Bong San Gang! Twists and turns like this make this drama fun and entertaining to watch! Gu Bong San is betrayed and is forced to run (Credits: Netflix) No one is as they seem With another surprising twist thrown into the story, just when you think everything has been resolved and put back in order, this series throws another curveball! When everyone thinks these two gangs have finally finished each other off, we're shown that there is one more piece behind the puzzle, the man controlling "the game". As an undercover cop sent to infiltrate the underground world, "Mr. Kim" is actually a crooked cop who is trying to take everything for himself. With our minds blown and a fantastic finish, Mercy for None definitely takes the cake for best action K-drama of 2025! Have you seen Mercy for None yet? Leave a comment on what surprised you the most about So Ji Sub's comeback! Mercy for None is now available for streaming on Netflix with all episodes out. #MercyforNone #SoJiSub #HeoJunHo #JoHanChul #LeeJunHyuk

  • BTS Founder, Bang Si Hyuk, Going To Jail For Fraud?

Life imprisonment looms for BTS mastermind Bang Si Hyuk amid $290 million fraud allegations, causing a significant decline in HYBE shares. We take a closer look at what happened and what sentence he is facing! Image: Bang Si Hyuk and BTS members - Photo: Soompi.com Who is Bang Si Hyuk? Bang Si Hyuk is the mastermind behind the global success of BTS ! Not only did he help to cement K-pop's place globally, but he is also a veteran songwriter and music producer. Before finding HYBE , previously known as BigHit , he worked at JYP Entertainment . This wealthy individual and highly influential figure faces criminal charges in Daegu , South Korea. Bang Si Hyuk under criminal investigation HYBE Chairman, Bang Si Huk, under investigation (Credits: Reuters) So the million-dollar question is "Should Bang Si Hyuk go to jail?" Did Bang Si Hyuk pull a fast one back in 2019 when HYBE was still BigHit ? This is during the time when investors of the music company were asking about going public. However, at that time, Bang told them that it was not happening, which led some investors to sell their shares. Investigators on the case have since discovered evidence that Bang was secretly making moves to launch an IPO (public company) anyway, so who is in the right and who is in the wrong here? The money trail Where did all of the shares go? Well, it turns out that Bang had a deal taking place in the background with a private investment group, which had a fund set up by someone that he knew well. Later on, this fund money came in, and priced out all of the shares that the original investors sold. Moving forward to 2020, HYBE, which at the time was known as BigHit, went public, which rightly made investors very mad, but remember, at this time, BTS and other big K-pop groups were dominating global charts. The share prices skyrocketed, and on the grapevine, it's said that Bang even had a secret agreement, allowing him to get 30% profits from the fund, basically buying cheap shares and then selling them on after the company went public. That secret deal reportedly lined his pockets with a cool $290 million! What made this illegal? Good question. Well, the illegal part comes in under the South Korean Capital Markets Act, which is very important for investors, ensuring that they are open about financial agreements, while in the process of filing to make the company public. If investors are not following this act, it is classed as fraudulent and unfair trading. So to date, the Financial Services are trying to prove that Bang made the original investors sell their shares early, before the company went public, so that his friends could purchase them and Bang could make a profit. If Bang is found guilty, he will be charged under Article 443 of the act, and if the profit that he earned was higher than 5 billion KRW (It is expected that he profited around 400 billion KRW), the punishment is anywhere from 5 years' jail time or life imprisonment. But will his influence get him off on a lighter sentence? What are your thoughts on this trending K-pop topic? • BTS' RM Just Won WHAT?! You Won't Believe His American Music Awards Title!

Image: BTS RM - Photo: Musicmundial.com Dojeon Media has just snagged the latest scoop! ARMY , get ready to be excited as one of your favorite BTS members, RM , has just won an award at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs), one of the three mainstream music awards in the United States. RM won the "K-pop Artist" category and rightly so! This category, however, is a fairly new one since the rise of K-pop has become a global phenomenon, and the category was created in 2022. What has ARMY been saying on Social Media? It was a tough gig this year for this new category, since K-pop has become so dominant in the global charts. RM, however, smashed his rivals and won against fellow BTS member Jimin , along with beating Stray Kids , ATEEZ, and BLACKPINK's Rose's "Apt " . Which we think was worth the win. Since RM will be reuniting with the rest of the BTS members very soon, this solo win also pays tribute to the hard work and success that he has gained as a solo artist. BTS has previously won several AMAs as a group, including Artist of the Year in 2021 . Our thoughts The team at Dojeon Media agrees that this year's choices were very close, and each artist nominated in the "K-pop Artist" category was worthy of winning. However, what we believe gave RM the edge over his competitors is that his constant catchy lyrics and bubbly personality had won ARMY fans over, both here in Korea and overseas. With the BTS reunion being long overdue, ARMY is pushing for the success of its members! And since RM has before taken on more of a leadership role within the group, this was his time for some much-deserved solo recognition! Do you think RM was the right choice for this award this year? We give you five reasons why Nine Puzzles should be at the top of your summer K-drama watchlist! Kim Da Mi (left) and Son Suk Ku star in Disney+'s new crime/thriller Nine Puzzles (Credits: Disney+) Synopsis Driven by a traumatic past, criminal profiler Yoon E Na ( Kim Da Mi ) excels in her job as a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Police's criminal analysis team. Working with Kim Han Saem ( Son Suk Ku ), a detective who suspects her of being her uncle's murderer 10 years ago, they work to uncover the truth of what happened that dreadful night. Here are five reasons why Nine Puzzles is worth your time! Kim Da Mi's "strange" character portrayal is actually on purpose According to director Yoon Jong Bin, Kim Da Mi's character, Yoon E Na, was described as "'cartoonish' or 'comic book-like'" during a press conference for the series on May 14. Kim Da Mi added, " There was a distinctive and strange feeling, and acting within those spaces felt new and fun." Son Suk Ku described the series as "strange", and you can't define the series as a "mystery" as it "feels like there's more to it." Kim Da Mi (left) and Son Suk Ku star in Disney+'s latest crime/mystery/thriller Nine Puzzles . (Credits: Disney+) Yoon E Na and Son Suk Ku's character, Kim Han Saem gives out a "weird, but it works" kind of vibe as you watch the series. The two somehow "click" although often their interactions are awkward to the point that they seem to hate each other (while being on the same team). The storyline had us hooked from the beginning Right from the start of the series, we see Yoon E Na walking home from school and is faced with the bloody corpse of her late uncle lying face down on the living room floor. This scene becomes key in opening the trauma that she faces as the series progresses. As E Na dives deeper into her uncle's case, her traumatic past begins to unravel, and we get to see how she has coped with this issue throughout her life. Still from Nine Puzzles . (Credits: Disney+) The gripping storytelling, along with superb camerawork, is easy to follow and makes it wonderful to watch! Detective work hasn't been this entertaining! As E Na and Han Saem continue to work together, solving a string of murders, the thought process and meticulous detective work are brilliant! If you love a good mystery series, Nine Puzzles brings out some fun police work reminiscent of the Nancy Drew mystery novels. Yoon E Na (left) and Kim Han Saem are a joy to watch! (Credits: Disney+) Park Gyu Young is smart and gorgeous! Acting as Yoon E Na's anchor and psychiatrist, Park Gyu Young 's role as Doctor Lee Seung Joo is the constant in Yoon E Na's life. Her sessions with E Na help E Na with dealing with her emotions as well as being the only person in her life willing to listen to her. Park Gyu Young in Nine Puzzles (Credits: Disney+) Once you start, you can't stop (well...sort of!) Although slow at first, Nine Puzzles gains momentum towards the middle of the series! Once it hooks you in, you don't want to stop! (*Spoiler alert!) After episode 6, we start to learn how the first three murders are connected, and this is where the fun begins! E Na and Han Saem start to trust each other and work together. With their ambition and curiosity, these two make a formidable team. Still from episode 6 of Nine Puzzles (Credits: Disney+) Have we convinced you yet? Nine Puzzles is worth watching! With a slow beginning, the show picks up momentum and never lets up! Nine Puzzles premiered on May 21, 2025, with the first six episodes, followed by three additional episodes on May 28, 2025. The final two episodes were released on June 4, 2025.
