- "The Golden Spoon" Ends In Unexpected Thrilling Fashion!
The webtoon fantasy-inspired drama The Golden Spoon that premiered on MBC TV on September 23 capped off an unexpected thrilling finale on November 12! The fantasy-romance drama featuring Yook Sung Jae from K-pop boy group BtoB shocked viewers with a shocking ending! Here's our take on the surprising ending that has everyone talking! **Spoiler Alert! The Golden Spoon Ending The final episode brought much-needed closure but also left the door wide open to the viewer's interpretation. Towards the end of the episode, we see Lee Seung Cheon ( Yook Sung Jae ) back at Hwang Tae Yong's ( Lee Jong Won ) house after being released from the murder charges set upon him by Hwang Hyeon Do. The housemaid prepares a poisonous drink disguised as orange juice for him in the middle of packing. The next scene shows Seo Young Sin entering Tae Yong's room with blood all over the floor and a dead "Tae Yong" as she alerts the rest of the house. Na Ju Hee ( Jung Chae Yeon ), who has been waiting outside for Seung Cheon rushes into the house and is shocked to find out what happened. The next scene is set three years in the future where everyone is settling into their new lives and almost forgetting about what happened three years earlier. Seung Cheon's sister has married Jang Mun Ki (Tae Yong's assistant) and Oh Yeo Jin ( Yeon Woo ) is also married to Park Jang Gun and has a newborn. Hwang Hyeon Do has also been released from prison after serving his time but is wheeled out in a wheelchair. It seems that he has been fed the same paralytic that killed Seung Cheon by Young Sin who wants to make him suffer. She tells him that Seo Jun Tae was actually his son and we see the shock in Hyeon Do's eyes. Meanwhile, Ju Hee is given the assignment to interview a gardener who teaches children how to invest in stocks. The search for this gardener brings Ju Hee to the beach where she meets none other than Seung Cheon! It is revealed in the next scene that before Seung Cheon was able to drink the orange juice given to him by the housemaid, the gardener was at the house at the same time eating his third meal with the golden spoon which made him the new Hwang Tae Yong and therefore passes away. Seung Cheon becomes the gardener and walks out of the house with no memory of anything that happened before. As Ju Hee meets the new Seung Cheon, she has a vague feeling of knowing him and has a stir of feelings although she doesn't know why. Our thoughts on the ending Although there was closure in the last episode, we felt that the identity changes between the characters often made us confused. Many times, we had to pause the episode and really think about who is the "real" character and whose body was "borrowed". It also made us realize how difficult it must have been for the actors to play these multiple roles! Check out this behind-the-scenes video for episode 16! Let us know if this ending had you scratching your head or rewinding it to watch it again! Let us know your theory in the comments below! We would love to hear from you!
- "Taxi Driver 2" Surpasses "The Glory" As Korea's Most Popular Drama! Here's Why!
South Korea has crowned a new king in the most popular drama series this year! The "taxi squad" made up of hilariously diverse characters has beaten the new global hit "The Glory" as Korea's most-watched drama series! Let's take a look at why this is! "Taxi Driver 2" was cited by the media outlet, Gallup Korea, as the top most-watched tv series drama! The survey was conducted on 1003 Korean individuals from ages 18 and older from April 17 - April 20, 2023. According to the survey results, "Taxi Driver 2" beat out "Mr. Trot 2" and Netflix's "The Glory" as the preferred program! On April 16, the day after the season 2 finale aired, the producer from the show announced that there will be a season 3! The season 2 finale earned higher viewership ratings than the season one finale! It also set a new record for the highest ratings achieved by a mini-series of 2023 so far! So why do Koreans prefer this light-hearted action series over the dark, brooding "The Glory"? We give you four reasons why! 1. Koreans love to laugh at slapstick comedy! It's hard to understand Korean humor sometimes. A little jab at someone's family could end up becoming something a lot more serious than intended. Therefore, stand-up comedy isn't very popular. Instead, shows like "Running Man" and "Great Escape" tend to do really well and run on for many seasons. "Taxi Driver 2" provides a lot of innocent, child-like humor that everyone can enjoy. Without the need to put other characters down. Very vanilla. 2. Every case is about two episodes long. The format for "Taxi Driver 2" is a lot different than that of "The Glory" . Each case that the "taxi squad" takes out lasts for only two episodes therefore the audience doesn't have to sit through the whole series to find out what happens. If you've never been to South Korea, Koreans have a "ppalli ppalli culture" ( 빨리빨리), which literally translates to "hurry hurry" or "quickly". Koreans have very little patience in their everyday lives, so concluding a case within two episodes or one week, is very convenient for the audience. 3. It is very easy to follow. Unlike "The Glory" , "Taxi Driver 2" is very linear in terms of the timeline and story. Sometimes, there are flashbacks to fill the audience in with background information, but for the most part, the audience doesn't have to do much thinking. "The Glory" , on the other hand, has a very complex and intricate storyline that spans over 15 years. It is engaging and takes more effort to focus on what is going on, making it more difficult for many Koreans to stay engaged for over an hour. 4. A sense of well-deserved justice. There have been many complaints about several scenes in "The Glory" including many of the bullying scenes where there is no filter or censorship making Koreans feel a little uncomfortable. Bullying is a big deal in South Korea, therefore, making the story a little too realistic for many viewers. "Taxi Driver 2" , on the other hand, takes care of the bad guys very cleanly and neatly, without showing the gory stuff. In addition, since "Taxi Driver 2" tends to be a little more fictional so it hits less close to home for many Koreans. So that's it for our reasons! Let us know if you agree or not! If not, let us know your reasons and if you're waiting for season 3! #taxidriver2 #theglorypart2 #theglory #leejehoon
- President Lee Jae-Myung in Egypt: A Visit You Can’t Miss! Here’s What To Expect!
Can a phone call between President Lee Jae-myung and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi start something big? This Week, President Lee Brings South Korea to Egypt for Historic Talks This week, Cairo will host President Lee as he arrives for a landmark official visit. The visit marks 30 years of diplomatic relations between Egypt and South Korea , first established in 1995. Will Cairo see a historic moment when President Lee visits? What will the city, the universities, and government buildings look like when the leaders meet to celebrate 30 years of diplomatic ties? Before Egypt, President Lee will visit Abu Dhabi from November 17–19, where he will meet UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed . They are expected to discuss investment, defense, technology, healthcare, and culture, and may sign a memorandum on AI and defense cooperation. Could a deal on AI and defense open new opportunities for both countries? And what will happen in Cairo? From November 19 to 21, will the Egyptian capital become the center of big talks on trade, technology, energy, and cooperation after President Lee meets President El-Sisi ? He will deliver a speech at Cairo University on 20th November , speaking to students, teachers, and Korean language learners about South Korea ’s vision for the Middle East. And it will be the first-ever Korean President to address the students in Egypt. What will students and teachers at Cairo University think as they hear President Lee talk about South Korea ’s plans for the Middle East? How did this visit start? This visit comes after a preparatory mission in September, when Special Envoy Park Beom-ki delivered a message from President Lee , thanking Egypt for its support on peace efforts in the Korean Peninsula and his intention to meet with President El-Sisi . Did you know that some old reports say Egypt recognized Korea in 1948 ? But the official diplomatic relationship started in 1995 . How can a 30-year friendship feel like it is just beginning something even bigger? What will the leaders do next? Leaders are expected to discuss agreements in trade, technology, and culture. The visit will also be followed closely by students and young people who are interested in international relations. And the big question is: Will this visit be a turning point in Egypt-South Korea relations, a story of friendship, cooperation, and new opportunities? As it is the first time for President Lee to visit Egypt, will November 2025 be remembered as the month Cairo became the center of history, or just another visit? Only time will tell.

- Park Ji Hoon Delivers an Emotionally Adrenaline Charged Performance in "Weak Hero Class 1"
Ex-Produce 101 and Wanna One's Park Ji Hoon does it again with superb acting in his new fall drama Weak Hero Class 1 ! The eight-episode webtoon-based series surprised many with themes of school bullying and child abandonment violently displayed on the screen as the drama is rated 19+. Park Ji Hoon commands the camera with his superb acting skills as a depressed high school student that just wants to finish high school and move on with his life. We give you three reasons why Park Ji Hoon's acting is worth watching! 1. Dark and menacing demeanor What sets this role from other past roles that he's done is the dark and menacing demeanor Yeon Shi Eun (his character) displays throughout the series. His "don't mess with me" look he gives to fellow his classmate and class bully, Jeon Young Bin ( Kim Su Gyeom Juvenile Justice 2021), is authentic! The anger we feel while watching this drama is unreal! We can really relate to what Ji Hoon's character is feeling! Every scene is a buildup of angst and anxiety until there is a fight. The fighting scenes had us cheering for the "good guys" as they take on the local thugs hired by Young Bin. 2. When can I graduate? We've all been there! Some of us had a great time in high school, others not so much. Ji Hoon's character, Shi Eun, is the epitome of the latter. Constantly getting bullied with no friends and only focusing on studying, he can't wait to get out of high school! Park Ji Hoon's deliverance of his disgust for his fellow classmates and the situation at school can only be elevated by the fact that his father is constantly away for work and has no idea his son is emotionally distressed. 3. Amazing supporting cast Although Park Ji Hoon's acting is superb, we can't discount the fact that the support roles in this drama are equally impressive. Many of the scenes that Ji Hoon's character actually show emotion when he is provoked by those around him. One of the scenes is when Shi Eun is getting bullied by a local gangster, Jeon Seok Dae ( Shin Seung Ho Alchemy of Souls 2022), but Seok Dae shows compassion stating, "This is just business." while controlling his emotions during the fight, makes us, the audience, really feel bad for his situation. He is being paid to beat up another kid unfairly, so his conscious is eating away at him since he takes pride in being a fighter. So what do you think about Park Ji Hoon's acting? Are you impressed?
