- These 3rd-gen K-pop Groups Are Scorching Hot Right Now! Here's Why They're Not Slowing Down Any Time Soon!
Creating a "generation battle" with 4th- and 5th-generation K-pop groups, we break down why these iconic 3rd-generation K-pop groups still hold massive global influence and why the world is still talking about them! 3rd-generation K-pop groups are back and stronger than ever! Major Groups Are Reuniting After Military Service EXO members send off leader, Suho, to his military service duties (Soompi) Legendary K-pop boy groups like BTS , EXO , and Monsta X have members finishing their mandatory military service and they're returning to the stage. All BTS and EXO members have completed their service, while Monsta X's maknae, I.M , started his enlistment on February 9, 2026. These massive reunions are pulling fans back into their fandoms and are dominating social media and news headlines. Nostalgia Is Driving Fan Interests Red Velvet (Credits: SM Entertainment) Many K-pop fans started listening to K-pop during the 2015 to 2019 global boom. Popular groups during this time included BTS, BLACKPINK , TWICE , Red Velvet , and SEVENTEEN . Many fans have grown up, and through anniversaries and reunions with the groups, a "sense of nostalgia" has been a real driver of their popularity. 3rd Gen Built the Global K-pop Boom EXO's REVERXE album teaser image (Credits: X/@weareoneEXO) Needless to say, it was these 3rd-generation K-pop groups that pushed K-pop into mainstream and global markets. Because all of these groups created global fanbases, their comebacks were not seen as "normal", but more as "major industry events". Examples of this would be BTS topping music charts, BLACKPINK becoming global pop icons, and EXO dominating album sales, with their 2026 album, REVERXE , becoming their 8th consecutive million-seller! Competition With New Generations BABYMONSTER has been a good example of a 5th-generation group on the rise (Credits: YG Entertainment) While 4th- and 5th-generation groups dominate recent debuts and live television broadcasts, 3rd-generation groups create a "generation battle". With the 3rd-generation groups on hiatus due to their mandatory military service, the younger groups had a chance to expand globally. But the recent return of the older groups has created a competition for attention and fandom loyalty. Final Thoughts 3rd-gen K-pop is trending again because legendary groups are returning after military service, nostalgic fans are reconnecting with the artists they grew up with, and these groups still hold massive global influence. Their comebacks also create competition with younger generations, keeping them constantly discussed in the K-pop community. The Dojeon team believes that these K-pop legends are here to stay and are not slowing down any time soon! - "What's your blood type?" — Meeting a Korean for the first time!
Have you ever been asked your blood type by a Korean? Even the first time you have met someone? A little strange isn't it? Well, this article will focus on the significance of blood type in Korea and why it's so important to meet someone for the first time! “What’s your blood type?” Much like asking for a person’s horoscope here in Western countries, however, in Korea, you might be asked for your blood type instead. Both of these questions are a fun way to get a general idea of a person’s personality . In Korean culture, each blood type is associated with specific personality traits and should be taken with a grain of salt, and depending on your blood type you will fall into one of four categories. Still in 2024, 6 out of 11 Koreans according to the Korean Herald, use blood types to define someone's personality. You may feel confused as to why people ask about blood types in Korea, but don’t worry. If you are asked this by a Korean, that means that the person wants to get to know you better! Blood Type AB You’re either a psycho or a genius — those with type AB blood are often unpredictable but have a “can-do” attitude with a high level of intelligence and a variety of interests. People with this blood type seem like they're in their own world and are unique and quirky. Similarly, they can be shy and aloof, often preferring to be alone - this may lead others to think they are two-faced and cold. You are a mysterious alien that not everyone can understand. Blood Type B You’re cool, independent, follow your own rules and don’t care about what anyone thinks of you. People with type B blood love to enjoy life to the fullest and are passionate about what fuels them. They are always curious which may also make them impulsive without knowing. However, they are also considered shallow, selfish, and lazy towards people and things they are not passionate about. Blood Type A Conservative, timid, and often more introverted than other blood types, people with type A blood are often sensitive and find difficulty expressing emotions or trusting others. They may also take things personally and easily feel hurt. However, they can also be considerate to others, patient, and are often punctual. Blood Type O People with type O blood are natural-born leaders and well-rounded individuals. They are outgoing and optimistic and are not afraid to say what’s on their mind. They can carry a conversation with confidence but they much rather speak with actions than words. Blood type O's are ambitious individuals who work to succeed in what they do. I am blood type O, and I have to say that the generalization does actually sound like some of the traits that I have. For me, I am a very ambitious and driven person, and I speak my mind as well. Usually, however, I check my star signs. Due to my birthday falling in February, I fall at the end of the Aquarius calendar. A couple of years ago, I used to have a book that would tell me my horoscope by day throughout the year, or in the UK I would tend to read the daily horoscope listings in the newspaper. I do believe in genes through blood types and star signs. Let us know your thoughts on this taboo topic in the comments below. And what's your blood type? #bloodtype #personalitytest #southkorea #koreanculture

- LaLisa, BTS's V, And Actor Park Bo Gum Grace Celine's Fashion Show In Paris
#lalisa #btsv #parkbogum Hallyu has officially taken over the global fashion scene! Blackpink's Lisa , BTS's V , and actor Park Bo Gum were all seen at the Celine men's Spring-Summer 2023 collection show during Paris' Men's Fashion Week. The trio attended the show on June 26 as representatives of South Korea. It was reported that BTS's V aka Kim Tae Hyung and actor Park Bo Gum were personally invited by Celine's creative director, Hedi Slimane. Blackpink's Lisa, as we all know, was named Celine's global ambassador in 2020. BTS' V wore a sequined polo neck tee which he paired with leather pants and a red leather jacket that he left open. He flaunted his love for OTT jewelry with a tasseled neckpiece, which man fans claimed: "ruined his look". He wore his soft wavy locks and opted for a natural look. Lisa never fails to amaze as she was spotted with a backless and sleeveless turtleneck top, alongside black shorts. Her bag, boots, and belt, all adopted black hues, creating a ton sur ton look. In addition, Lisa also wore a Western makeup style and layered platinum hair, making her super eye-catching. Park Bo Gum opted to go with the same necklace as his best friend, V, as the actor chose a turtleneck, long blazer, and leather pants all in black. However, many critics stated that his outfit "wasn't groundbreaking enough". It was a sight to behold as the trio attracted an unprecedented crowd, never seen as many fans attended a Celine fashion show. Check out Lisa posing for pictures! What did you think about this event? - Korean celebrities facing challenges with staying authentic while going global
Korean celebrities’ balancing act in staying authentic while going global has been a very difficult task with Korean entertainment going global. We highlight three of the top Korean celebrities who have managed to do this! Image: timesofindia.com It is no secret that the Korean entertainment industry has created a much sought after paradox, and the cultural influence that it has had on global audiences is very clear in many countries, and as a result Hallyu's global expansion has lured and captured new audiences. Even with millions of followers and sold out concerts, the stigma of staying relevant but also authentic to Korea is a challenge, though some celebrities have managed to keep it really despite their superstar status. We highlight three of the most trending K-entertainment celebrities that have tackled this issue and stayed true to their roots! BTS RM Image: leisurebyte.com BTS's RM , for instance, is the group's leader and main English speaker. With all that pressure, he has managed to navigate his personal persona while bridging cultural gaps. His famous UN speech and VLive sessions demonstrate how he has remained genuine despite global pressure. BLAKCPINK's Lisa Image: pintrest.com Lisa represents another interesting case, being a Thai member of a Korean girl group. She has had to learn quick how to balance multiple cultural identities right from the off set, and her authentic and easy going approach allows her to openly embrace both cultures, for example coming from Thailand she is very enthusiastic about food and mango sticky rice which is a Thai staple. The way that she is open about her personal life on social media has allowed her to stay relevant and embrace a global culture as well as showing off her routes at the same time. Lee Jung Jae Image: mydramalist.com Most likely you will know Lee Jung Jae from Squid Game series, and this actor demonstrates another successful career, despite challenges. He has showed has he can embrace global fame without abandoning his deep local and traditional Korean route. He has even won an Emmy for being the first Asian Lead Actor to win in a drama, and he kept his speech short and sweet ending it with a few words in Korean. He did later joke about how he had to practice and learn the English lines ahead of making a speech at the event. Despite many Hollywood opportunities he has continued to accept different types of Korean roles, lending his talent to Korean films and he has even directed a film called Hunt . What opportunities will he have in the future to promote Korea? Our Thoughts Although the perfect Korean celebrity image can change depending on the celebrities interactions, and careers, it is true that adapting to a global identity, and finding organic ways to express both tradition and open-mindedness is key, in addition to maintaining a tricky balance. How is staying authentic important to you? Let us know in the comments below. #kpop #kdrama #celeb #celebrity #kentertainment #global #authentic
