October, the start of Autumn, literally transforms Seoul's outdoor spaces. This year, the Seoul International Garden Show is set to turn what's usually an ordinary city space into a living natural garden design for the whole family to enjoy.

The garden show will also feature sustainable living pop-ups and concrete landscapes that have been carefully thought out to showcase how cities around the world can create more green spaces in the heart of the city.

What to Expect

Visitors this year can expect countless imaginative garden displays and walk-through zones, as well as special pop-ups. This year's show will also feature exhibits from global designers with unique sustainable designs. The garden show this year is expected to be packed with hands-on environmental exhibits to get stuck into, which make it even more family-friendly. It is best to arrive early to avoid the crowds, and the weekends are expected to be busier than weekdays, so it's advisable to take public transportation.

Dates, Times, and Admission

The Seoul International Garden Show this year runs until October 27, welcoming visitors daily between 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM. What makes this festival great is that it is free to attend, so you have no excuse not to visit! Pop-up programs, of course, might have additional fees or require pre-booking. Take the subway to Seoul Forest Station to experience a wonderful day out in central Seoul.

Eco-Design Innovations

Since global warming is a hot potato topic globally, and with more and more people moving to cities worldwide, not to mention a growing population, becoming more sustainable is now a race for many eco-designers.

At this year's International Garden Show, smart ecological materials and forward-thinking technologies will take pride of place across most areas of the show. These clever installations provide practical examples of how to boost urban wildlife and improve energy efficiency in crowded cities, with Seoul leading the forefront in many areas.

Our writer Lewis Hooper is attending this year's event, and he cannot wait to see what new technology is on show!

Transforming the Urban Oasis

Living in the city can, for the most part, feel claustrophobic and polluted, so creating urban oases in the city is key. Although a lot of cities have parks, these transformed urban oases provide lush plant life that can flourish in busy neighbourhoods, allowing insects such as bees to populate and aid the ecosystem.

At this year's festival, some of these inspiring layouts will be on show, with the hope of encouraging city dwellers to reimagine how public zones can support long-term environmental health. How cool is this!?

What K-Culture Fans Are Saying

K-culture fans have raved on social media about some of these creative designs and ideas, especially when it comes to pop-up spaces featuring iconic light stick concepts and popular character installations like the Pokémon Secret Forest (from May 1 - June 21, 2026), which our writer Lewis Hooper has visited. He agrees that it is a wonderful and clever way to attract more people into nature by adding these pop-up events.

Final Thoughts

For the Dojeon Media team, we cannot wait to see some of these imaginative designs. At the end of the day, these creative green displays offer just a glimpse into how society can transform city skylines globally. Ultimately, if you get the chance to visit this year's show, then you should not miss it!
