The Song Sounds Different From Typical K-pop

Featuring raw electronic sounds and a catchy repetitive beat, CORTIS's new viral hit "REDRED" is blasted everywhere on social media channels. The song features a raw "rougher" production style featuring a repetitive hook and rugged synth-heavy sound. Fans describe it as "chaotic, rebellious, and addictive", just like CORTIS! Compared to other polished singles out now, "REDRED" definitely stands out in both musical and visual tones.

The TikTok “Flappy-Ear Dance” Changed Everything

Everyone knows the term "simpler is better", and that's exactly how CORTIS is dominating social media. The dance is easy to copy and visually memorable, making it a viral hit with over 468K TikTok clips featuring the single!

"REDRED" is made for short-form viral dance challenges and has achieved its goal within days of its release on April 20, 2026. It's "Flappy-Ear Dance" (an intuitive point choreography crossing arms and shaking hands near the ears) has caught the attention of even the biggest names in K-pop, including BTS's J-Hope!

The Numbers Behind The Viral Sensation

The music video of "REDRED" pokes fun at the teens' fun attitudes and creativity. At the end credits, it shows: "Directed by IDIOTS & CORTIS", making it a fun jesting and talking point for fans in the comments!

Climbing to number 3 on South Korea's Circle Music Chart, "REDRED" is mentioned with giants BTS's "SWIM" and HUNTR/X from KPOP DEMON HUNTERS' "GOLDEN"! We couldn't be prouder of the boys as they were one of the top rookie groups to watch out for in 2026!

The song also charted on the 'Bubbling Under Hot 100', a group of 25 songs that didn't make Billboard's main 'HOT 100' chart. It also ranked 43rd on the 'GLOBAL 200' and 24th on the 'GLOBAL (excluding the U.S.)'.

With their YouTube views reaching over 28 million in over a month and millions of preorders for their 2nd EP album GREENGREEN on May 4, 2026, it's no wonder "REDRED" is one of the biggest hits of the year!

Final Thoughts

Because of CORTIS's self-produced and all five members active in the visual direction and choreography of the album and songs, many fans have dubbed the group an "anti-idol group" and they "don't look manufactured". Perhaps this is the new direction of K-pop? Along with their catchy beats and simple choreography, it seems that CORTIS might be the new BTS! Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
