  • Kim Soo Hyun Hits Back at Financial Trouble Claims: "We Did Not Fail to Pay"

Kim Soo Hyun responds to claims of unpaid fees in ongoing lawsuit. We uncover the latest news in the ongoing actor's lawsuit with Kim Sae Ron's family. Image: Kim Soo Hyun & Kim Sae Ron - Photo: me.marshable.com Setting the record straight, Kim Soo Hyun's side has denied financial woes circulating after a lawsuit delay, explaining that full payment was indeed made and an address error caused the court extension. What's the latest? Ever had a frustrating issue with paperwork? Kim Soo Hyun's legal team found themselves in a similar spot with their defamation lawsuit against the late Kim Sae Ron's family and YouTube channel GaroSero. A discrepancy in their initial filing led to a request for more time on the court fees. Then came the rumors – the kind that spread like wildfire – suggesting they'd missed the deadline, maybe even hinting at financial trouble. It's like when you get a bill wrong and suddenly everyone thinks you can't pay! But now, Soo Hyun's side is saying, "Hold on a minute, that's not the full story." They've come out to firmly state that everything has been paid, and the lawsuit is still very much on track. "Untrue": Kim Soo Hyun Addresses Financial Strain Claims Just when you thought the drama surrounding Kim Soo Hyun couldn't get any more intense, his legal team has stepped forward to set the record straight on a crucial point: money. Amidst the ongoing fallout from rumors about his past with the late actress Kim Sae Ron – whispers that spiraled into serious allegations – Soo Hyun's legal representatives at LKB & Partners have vehemently denied any financial missteps in the ensuing lawsuit. "We paid every single court fee and delivery charge," they declared via YTN Star, cutting through the speculation. The real reason for the court deadline extension? A simple, albeit frustrating, address mix-up, not a failure to pay a single won. This legal saga ignited after online chatter, amplified by the YouTube channel GaroSero and even Kim Sae Ron's family, suggested a relationship with Soo Hyun when she was allegedly underage – claims the Queen of Tears star fiercely refuted in a prior press conference, stating their romance was brief and occurred only after she reached adulthood. Now, to safeguard his reputation from these swirling accusations, his agency has announced a hefty 12 billion KRW (around 8.16 million USD) defamation lawsuit, adding another layer to this already captivating story. Courtroom Confusion: Kim Soo Hyun's Legal Team Explains Payment Row and Delay A curious detail emerged from the Seoul Central District Court on April 17th: Kim Soo Hyun's legal team stumbled on a significant paperwork snag. While they initially sought a hefty 12 billion KRW in damages, the court's records showed only 11 billion KRW (approximately 7.77 million USD) registered. The directive from the court was clear: fix the 1 billion KRW discrepancy and resubmit the file, along with the adjusted court fees, estimated at around 38 million KRW (roughly 26,700 USD) based on the claim amount. Instead of promptly rectifying the issue, Soo Hyun's team waited until the very last day of their one-week deadline – April 16th – to request an extension. This eleventh-hour move raised eyebrows, with legal experts suggesting it might be a strategic pause to re-evaluate their legal strategy. This news further fueled existing rumors about financial strain at Kim Soo Hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, particularly after an insider's comments and reports of suspended contracts with external cleaning services hinted at tight finances. Final thoughts We've all experienced that moment of uncertainty when a project gets delayed or a deal falls through. Now, imagine that on a massive scale. For Kim Soo Hyun, once the king of K-drama endorsements , reports are surfacing of over 20 deals vanishing, potentially leading to a hefty 22 billion KRW in cancellation penalties. And if that wasn't enough, his highly anticipated Disney+ series, Knock-Off , has been indefinitely suspended, leaving his future involvement – and potential further financial repercussions – hanging in the balance. It makes you think about how quickly things can change, even for the most successful. Let's talk about this! What are your thoughts on the unfolding events? • South Korea's Shock Defeat to South Africa Sparks Outrage: How Football Frustration Turned Into Online Abuse

South Korean football is no stranger to high expectations, but after the national team's unexpected loss to South Africa, emotions have reached a boiling point. What should have been a discussion about tactics and missed opportunities has instead become an online firestorm, with some players and coaching staff facing harsh criticism—and in some cases, cyberbullying. South Korea goalkeeper, Kim Seong-gyu, reacts to the South African score (left). His wife, Kim Jin-kyung, turned off social media comments after netizens flooded her posts with nasty comments. The result has divided fans across Korean online communities. While many are demanding accountability and changes ahead of future matches, others are urging supporters not to cross the line between criticism and personal attacks. We cover how the players, players' families, and fans dealt with the loss. A Defeat Few Saw Coming South Korean full-back Seol Young-woo sits on the field after South Africa's loss (YONHAP) Heading into the match, many fans expected South Korea to secure a comfortable victory. Instead, South Africa capitalized on key opportunities, exposing defensive weaknesses and frustrating South Korea's attack throughout the game. As the final whistle blew with the final score 1-0 (South Africa won), disappointment quickly spread across social media, where hashtags related to the match began trending, and thousands of fans shared their reactions. For many supporters, it wasn't just the defeat that hurt—it was the manner of the performance. K-Netizens Demand Answers Within hours, Korean online forums, YouTube comment sections, and social media platforms were flooded with reactions. Common criticisms included: Questioning the team's tactics and lineup decisions. Frustration over defensive mistakes and missed scoring chances. Calls for improvements before the upcoming international fixtures. Debate over whether younger players deserve larger roles in the squad. Constructive criticism is a natural part of football. Fans invest emotionally in their national team and expect players and coaches to perform at the highest level. However, not every reaction remained focused on the game itself. Check out this question by a reporter post-match. South Korean national team manager, Hong Myung-bo, answers a question regarding his players' performance (@ohmygoal/Instagram) When Criticism Turns Into Cyberbullying As emotions intensified, some online users reportedly directed abusive comments toward individual players, coaches, and even their personal social media accounts. Instead of discussing performances, some posts included insults, mockery, and personal attacks unrelated to football. Fans have even gone as far as making nasty comments on players' wives ' social media posts, including South Korean goalkeeper Kim Seong-gyu's wife, Kim Jin-kyung's, Instagram posts, after the team's loss to Mexico 0-1. Kim Seung-gyo and his actress wife, Kim Jin-kyung, post on social media (Kim Jin-kyung Instagram) This shift has reignited concerns about online toxicity in sports. Professional athletes are accustomed to scrutiny, but targeted harassment can have lasting effects on mental health and well-being. Many fans have since spoken out against the abuse, reminding others that criticism of a player's performance should never become harassment of the individual. Social Media Amplifies Every Mistake Modern football is played under a microscope. Every missed pass, defensive error, or failed scoring chance can be clipped, shared, and debated within minutes. While social media has brought fans closer to the game, it has also created an environment where negativity can spread rapidly. Post from Men In Blazers (Facebook) Post from Men In Blazers (Facebook) Players today are not only competing on the pitch—they are also navigating constant public scrutiny online. Fans Call for Perspective Amid the outrage, many supporters have urged fellow fans to keep the bigger picture in mind. Every football nation experiences setbacks. Even the world's top teams suffer unexpected defeats. What often defines a successful team is not how it reacts to victory, but how it learns from disappointment. Constructive feedback can help drive improvement. Personal abuse cannot. We at Dojeon Media support this as well. If netizens cannot provide feedback that can help players, why should they be able to put them down? Also, there needs to be harsher punishments against cyber attacks and bullying. This is uncalled for, and fans need to be better. What Comes Next for South Korea? The loss will undoubtedly prompt reflection within the national team. Coaches will analyze tactical decisions, players will review performances, and preparations will continue for the next challenge. Supporters will also play an important role. The passion of South Korean football fans is one of the team's greatest strengths. Channeling that passion into support, constructive discussion, and belief in the team's ability to improve can help create a healthier football culture than one fueled by online hostility. Final Thoughts A shocking defeat always brings strong emotions, especially for a football-loving nation with high expectations. Fans have every right to question performances, tactics, and decisions on the pitch. But there is a crucial difference between holding a team accountable and targeting individuals with abuse. As South Korea looks to bounce back from its disappointing loss to South Africa, many hope the conversation shifts away from online hostility and toward what truly matters: learning from defeat, supporting the team, and preparing for a stronger performance in the matches ahead. #weneedtodobetter #bebetter #taegukwarriors #southkorea

  • Your Ultimate Guide to Surviving (and Enjoying) Winter in Korea! [From Food to Clothing, We Have You Covered!]

We have the essential packing lists, must-try hot street foods, and tips for staying warm during the coldest months in South Korea. The Dojeon Media Team has you covered! Image: Seoul during Winter - Photo: 10mag.com Winter in Korea is notoriously cold, and although shops like Diaso sell hand packs and thermals for very affordable prices, are they enough to keep you from freezing? In this article, we will focus on how to stay warm this winter! Clothing & Layering Essentials Korea is cold during winter, and no matter how many layers you wear, you will still feel it! Therefore, layering is non-negotiable if you want to survive Korean winters. The key here is to start with base thermals and layer from there. Long padding (long-padded jackets) is also highly recommended by us, as this ankle-length padding will shield you from top to bottom and really help you brave strong winds. Wearing a hat and gloves adds heat security, we know from experience. Heating and Home Comfort This is the most important thing to survive winter! Most Korean houses have an underfloor heating system called 'ondol', which will heat you from the bottom up and at the same time provide a cozy winter feel. Another hack to stay warm and cozy at home is to consider buying an electric blanket. Lewis Hooper from the Dojeon team has used one in the UK in the past and said that it was a lifesaver, especially if you are prone to having a damp room . A lot of older Korean homes also tend to use bubble wrap on their windows to prevent drafts from coming in, and at the same time, it is an inexpensive solution to try and keep your house warm. Food for Warmth Food is another great idea if you want to keep warm during the winter, and Korea has some amazing winter foods ! Some of the traditional warm foods are literally a lifesaver, and for the most part, they are cheap and can be found on most streets. Dishes like Kimchi Jjigae  or Sundubu Jjigae  are spicy and served boiling, providing immediate internal warmth. On the corner of most streets, you can find vendors selling treats like Hotteok  (sweet sugar pancakes) or Odeng  (fish cake skewers in broth) to enjoy while walking, and these are popular with locals and tourists alike. One of Lewis Hooper's favorites is Yuja-cha  ( a citron tea) or Saenggang-cha  (ginger tea), which are popular Korean winter remedies to help prevent colds and warm your insides. These remedies are the perfect mix to fight off colds and at the same time they both taste great! Final thoughts Korean winters are amazing with the blue skies and endless winter activities; however, they are brutally cold and long. Hand packs are a Dojeon go-to for staying warm, while at the same time drinking hot tea while roaming the beautiful streets of Korea. Our favorite go-to dish is Kimchi jjigae, a must-try on your Korean adventure this winter! How do you prepare for winter in Korea? Comment below and let the Dojeon Media Team know! #KoreanWinterSurvival #LongPaddingLife #HeatTechEssentials #SeoulWinter #KWinterTips #OndolWarmth

  • Breaking Barriers: South Korea Counts Same-Sex Couples in National Census

The 2025 census could redefine how love, identity, and equality are recorded in Korean society. What may seem like "ordinary news" in the West, we break down why it is groundbreaking in South Korea. Image: South Korean Same Sex couple - Photo: Netshark Why is this news groundbreaking? For the first time in the history of Korea, the government has announced that although same sex couples and marriage are not legally recognized, they are willing to take a progressive step forward by recognizing same sex households and couples in the upcoming national census for the first time! This change is a victory for LGBTQ+ advocates, as it finally provides official statistical recognition for same-sex relationships. Visibility in National Data Previously, the digital census system would automatically flag and reject "spouse" entries for same-gender couples as an error, forcing them to select "other cohabitants". This update removes that discriminatory barrier, allowing for a more accurate reflection of diverse family structures in national data, which in part is thanks to the younger Korean generation . The government has announced that the collection of this data is crucial, as it can be used by policymakers to better understand and address the needs of the LGBTQ+ community. Activists have hailed this as the first instance where the existence of queer citizens is properly recorded in official statistics in the near future. A Step Towards Equality While the census inclusion is a monumental step, it does not grant same-sex couples legal status, as same-sex marriage remains illegal in South Korea. However, this progress builds on recent judicial rulings, such as a 2024 court decision that recognized the right of same-sex partners to receive spousal benefits under the national health insurance. The LGBTQ+ Community speaks out The LGBTQ+ Community have spoken out about the governments 'quiet' approach around the new legislation for the upcoming census. Some members of the LGBTQ+ community have praised the new legislation and view it as a step forward, however a large majority have said that the government are avoiding publicizing the new option too much, and that limited public awareness could lead to lower participation among same sex couples. Our Thoughts The Dojeon team believes that this progressive behavior by the younger generation is mainly because they have had the chance to live, work, and travel overseas, unlike their parents or grandparents. Social media and Boy Love dramas have also played a part in this new legislation, as the younger generation is more exposed to same sex couples in their daily lives. Not only this, but social media has given people a platform to voice their opinions, and this is something which governments often oppose and suppress, though it does sound like the Korean government is willing to listen to what its citizens are voicing online. We also believe that most LGBTQ+ members will not participate openly in the census as a same sex couple, primarily because of the views that the Korean society holds. Just because the option has been included in the census, it does not automatically give any rights to the LGBTQ+ community, and we believe that many members of the community will worry about the repercussions of stating their sexual preference openly. Is Korea opening up as a more progressive Asian society? We would love to hear your thoughts on this progressive topic in the comments below! #SouthKoreaEquality #SameSexRecognition #LGBTQRightsAsia #Census2025 #LoveIsLove #HistoricChange

  • Geomundo Uncovered: Your Ultimate Guide to Korea’s Secret Island Paradise

Unwind amidst raw coastal cliffs, historic lighthouses, and lush camellia forests in the heart of Dadohaehaesang National Park. Geomundo Island Korea - https://www.prestigeonline.com/ Geomundo Island, in the south of Korea, feels like the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and experience a more natural and peaceful side of Korea and Korean culture. Our writer, Lewis Hooper, is an ambassador for these beautiful islands, so let's check out some of the reasons why you really must experience the beauty of their dramatic coastal terrain and rich maritime history during your trip to Korea! What to Expect Geomundo Island is a wonderful place to relax. Visitors here are able to immerse themselves in a slower and more chilled-out way of life. Geomundo Island offers dramatic cliff tops, dense forests, and panoramic ocean views. Visitors can look forward to an incredibly peaceful environment defined by jagged cliffs, dense evergreen forests, and panoramic ocean vistas at every turn. Because it remains relatively untouched by mass tourism, the island offers a rare, slow-paced slice of authentic Korean island culture. How to Get There Geomundo Island is located right in the south of the country. To access this island, you will first need to head to the coastal city of Yeosu, which you can easily access by car or via one of the many KTX trains. From Yeosu, you will need to catch a ferry from the Yeosu Coastal Ferry Terminal direct to Geomundo Island, which will take around 2–2.5 hours; a one-way ticket costs around 45,000 won (USD 30.00), which is a really good price compared to train prices in the UK. Best Time to Visit The best time to visit Geomundo Island is late spring or early autumn if you are after the most pleasant weather. These times are great for hiking and enjoying the great outdoors. However, winter could be the ideal time to visit if you enjoy photography, as it's the best time to experience the island's camellia forests, which are covered in red blossoms during winter. Summer is great for swimming or fishing; however, the temperature is often hot and humid. What to Do There really is no shortage of things to do on Geomundo Island. The 1905 Lighthouse is a must-see destination, offering amazing views and rugged cliffs. This island is great for hikers, and if you are feeling up to it, then why not try the 195-meter Bultanbong Peak, where you can experience breathtaking views. If you are more into history, then the 19th-century British Forces cemetery remnants are the place to head! Local Food Galchi-jorim (silver hairtail fish stew) is a local Geomundo must-try dish! (Yeosu.go.kr) One of the best things about exploring somewhere new is the local food. Thanks to it being an island, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to the amount of amazing seafood available. Silver hairtail fish (galchi), served as fresh sashimi or a sweet and spicy braised stew (galchi-jorim), is a mandatory culinary experience that will not leave you disappointed. This really is one of the best things about being close to the sea, and all the traditional side dishes are homemade and local! Our Experience My time on the island was simply amazing! For me, the most unforgettable part was the natural and beautiful landscapes. Every aspect of the island has a more simplistic way of life, which is a great way to unwind and switch off. The crystal-clear waters are also simply refreshing, and the deep blue waters create the perfect backdrop. Compared to more famous Korean islands such as Jeju, I found this island to be a lot more simplistic and natural, while at the same time having all of the amenities that you need. Final Thoughts If you are looking for a lesser-known yet beautiful destination, then Geomundo Island will not leave you disappointed. It is, in fact, a destination that is worth visiting and is accessible by train and ferry. For our writer Lewis Hooper, who is an ambassador for these islands, he feels that they really are a symbol of Korean roots and culture in a simplistic yet rejuvenating way. #GeomundoIsland #DiscoverKorea #IslandOfTheYear #HiddenGemTravel #CoastalEscape #UntamedNature
