“Gangnam Style” Star PSY Returns to Gangnam—But His Comeback Isn’t Without Controversy
The “Gangnam Style” superstar prepares for his upcoming Gangnam show after being hit with a ₩5 million (USD 3,700) fine over a medical-law violation involving prescription sleeping medication.

October is about to get a whole lot more interesting, as PSY is set to return to a Seoul district that he has made globally popular, thanks to his smash hit “Gangnam Style.” PSY will return to the stage at this year’s Gangnam Festival, although his appearance will follow a controversial ₩5 million fine.
About the Event
This year’s Gangnam Festival will take place across Gangnam between October 3rd and 4th, showcasing a variety of culture, music, fashion, and entertainment performances, as well as various food stalls. One of the main attractions at this year’s event will be a large K-pop concert on October 4th, with PSY scheduled to headline the event.
PSY is no stranger when it comes to headlining music events and putting on performances, and since his smash hit “Gangnam Style” started the K-Culture boom in the early 2000s, it’s only right that he headlines this year’s event alongside other popular Korean artists.
Seoul Western District Court issued a ₩5 million fine (USD 3,700) to PSY for violating South Korea’s Medical Service Act. This case involved prescription medication, including sleep medication, that reportedly involved his staff collecting medication on PSY’s behalf, rather than PSY personally collecting his own prescriptions.
K-pop fans have a long-standing appreciation of PSY, and this is evidently clear since his PSY Summer Soak concerts sell out every year. With a chance to see PSY perform in the heart of central Seoul, while at the same time being able to enjoy what else the 2026 Gangnam Festival has to offer, it is expected to be a fierce competition when it comes to getting tickets to one of the hottest fall music line-ups! Fans are, of course, expecting PSY’s classic hits and high-energy performances!
Beyond PSY’s headline performance, the 2026 Gangnam Festival will feature a street parade, family entertainment, K-pop performances, dance activities, fashion and beauty programs for the whole family to enjoy!
Although the October 4th concert is free, fans will need to obtain tickets through Ticketlink on a first-come, first-served basis, while other festival activities are available without admission fees.
Final Thoughts
For the Dojeon Media team, we cannot wait to see PSY’s return to Gangnam this October! PSY really does have the influence to bring Seoul and the rest of the world together through his music and dance routines! Despite his recent fine, his upcoming performance is expected to attract both Korean and foreign fans.
