Starting August 6, six amazing musicals by EMK Musical Company will be released on Disney+.

These include:

  • Elisabeth

August 6: Elisabeth and Phantom Premiere


On August 6, Elisabeth: The Musical Live and Phantom: The Musical Live will be the first to stream.


Elisabeth is about the life and inner struggles of Empress Elisabeth of Austria. This musical has been shown in more than 14 countries and 10 languages, with over 12 million viewers worldwide.


The version on Disney+ is the 10th-anniversary performance, filmed with Dolby Atmos sound for a deep and real theatre experience. Actors include Ock Joo-hyun, Lee Hae-Jun, Lee Ji-hoon, Gil Byung-min, Joo-ah, and Jang Yoon-seok.

Phantom is based on the famous novel The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. This 2021 filmed version includes detailed close-ups of the actors’ eyes, hands, and expressions, giving a very real and emotional feeling.

August 13: Monte Cristo and The Man Who Laughs


On August 13, Disney+ will add Monte Cristo: The Musical Live and The Man Who Laughs.


Monte Cristo, based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas, was filmed live in 2020 using 14 cameras in 8K quality. The emotional acting by Kai, Lina, and Kim Joon-hyun brings the story to life with great detail.


The Man Who Laughs, inspired by the novel by Victor Hugo, was a box office hit when shown in theaters. It first appeared on screen in 2019 and ranked second in Megabox bookings. The musical stars Park Kang-hyun, Yang Jun-mo, Min Kyung-ah, and Shin Young-sook.

August 20: Excalibur and Marie Antoinette


Finally, on August 20, Excalibur and Marie Antoinette will be released.


Excalibur tells the story of King Arthur’s journey and destiny. It combines fantasy with strong emotions, performed by actors Kai, Park Kang-hyun, Kim So-hyang, and Shin Young-sook.


Marie Antoinette compares the life of the French queen to a fictional character named Magrreal Arnault, who fights against injustice. The cast includes Kim So-hyang, Jung Yu-ji, Do-young (NCT), and Kim Joon-hyun. The musical shows the meaning of truth, justice, and human dignity during the French Revolution.
