#oneus #tomoon #REACH_FOR_US A buzz was in the air as ONEUS , a five-member boy group from RBW Entertainment , was preparing to perform at the historic Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York City on January 12th. Black musical greats Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and Sammy David Jr. once performed on its hallowed stage, and locals and TO MOON (ONEUS fandom’s name) alike were excited to see what ONEUS would bring to the stage as the theatre’s first-ever K-pop concert! ONEUS consists of vocalist Seoho, rapper Leedo, vocalist Keonhee, dancer Hwanwoong, and visual/maknae Xion. Despite flying in just days prior to the concert, the group showed no sign of fatigue or jetlag while performing a powerful opening set of "Bring It On", "Come Back Home" and "Black Mirror". The group expertly mixed in various levels into their performance, where members would launch themselves into the air off the back of a backup dancer or be held up high by their fellow members. This callback to second-generation boy group choreography elicited cheers from the enraptured crowd. Other highlights of the show included a cover section of Blackpink’s " Pink Venom " and Justin Timberlake’s "Sexy Back". Also of note were touching VCRs where the members reflected on the group’s past and its tough times during the COVID pandemic. It is heartwarming to see Haeng Seon take her responsibilities as the sole guardian of Hae Yi seriously and sacrifices herself to give her niece a better life. On the other hand, Choi Chi Yeol really cares about his students. There's a scene where he explains to his students that he wants them to have the same passion that he has for the subject rather than just getting a great score. 3. There's a mysterious element mixed in. Like in many Korean dramas, there's always something that throws off the vibe of the series. A mini story of a mysterious person shooting metal balls at students and then through the window of Haeng Seon's shop in order to scare Chi Yeol while he's in there shopping. We were quite curious to see if it was a former student or parent that harbored ill will against Chi Yeol? 4. Beware, Tiger moms galore! The issue of overbearing Tiger moms is definitely something serious in this drama. With a comical twist, the series does take this issue with a more relaxed approach. Considering there are other dramas that focus on the serious issue of Korean mother's controlling their children's education, such as Green Mother's Club (2022), Crash Course in Romance decides to put a spin on the competitiveness of these moms in a comical manner! For instance, in the scene where Haeng Seon is looking to sign up Hae Yi for Chi Yeol's class but all of a sudden a herd of mothers starts power-walking alongside her to get to the academy first! 5. The eminent scandal! The title, in Korean, says it all: " 일타 스캔들" which means "One Shot Scandal". No matter how nice and fluffy this outrageous relationship might be, the truth is no parent should be close, especially romantically, with her child's teacher. In South Korea, this is a serious cause of concern since Koreans view teachers as a driver of their children's success in life. Although we ship Haeng Seon and Chi Yeol's relationship, we hold our breaths to see what will be the outcome if other moms find out about their relationship. What do you think? The story of a physically and mentally abused high school girl who vows revenge on her bullies 20 years later is just getting started! The Part 2 trailer explains why things are just starting to heat up! Take a look! Part 1 of The Glory shares the story of Moon Dong Eun ( Song Hye Kyo ), a traumatized high school student, who has been physically and mentally tormented by a group of classmates headed by the popular and beautiful Park Yeon Jin ( Lim Ji Yeon ). It shows the hardships and tribulations Dong Eun had to endure because of the result of her being bullied and dropping out of high school. She had to study hard to earn her GED while working part-time jobs to make ends meet. Meanwhile, her bully classmates are having fun in college and having the time of their lives. Depicting several uncut bullying scenes in Part 1, Netflix has chosen to leave nothing to the imagination as the bullies decide to use a hair curling iron as the wepon of choice to inflict pain upon the helpless Dong Eun. Many Koreans have taken to the internet cafes to express their opinions on why Netflix decided to show such heart breaking imagery. A story by Korean JoongAng Daily wrote that the scene depicted similarities between a real case that happened in Cheongju back in 2006. One post on an internet forum stated that there were many similarites between The Glory school uniforms and the uniforms worn by the actual school. The incident in Cheongju took place in a middle school where a young girl was assaulted by her classmates with hair irons, hair pins, and books for a month. Part 2 continues to be just as, if not, more intense as Moon Dong Eun exacts her revenge by getting closer to her tormentors; using what she has learned about them against themselves. She has also recruited some pretty important people to help her, including Joo Yeo Jeong ( Lee Do Hyun ) a plastic surgeon, and her evil arch nemesis Park Yeon Jin's husband, Ha Do Yeong. Part 2 of The Glory is scheduled to be released in March 2023! Meanwhile, watch Part 1 again to make sure you haven't missed anything!
