#Koreandessert #sweettooth Although Korean food is notorious for its spicy taste, Koreans also have a soft spot when it comes to sweets. Here are three Korean desserts you must try! 1. Bingsu (shaved ice) A perfect summer treat, bingsu has assorted flavors and its commonly served flavor is red bean with condensed milk. Yaksik is made out of pine nuts , chestnuts , and even jujube, also known as red dates or Chinese dates, which are abundant sources of nutrients. 3. Ice Hongsi (iced ripe persimmon) Persimmons are abundant during the autumn season so this dessert is something you shouldn’t miss trying in autumn but it is also perfect for the summer season since it’s a cold dessert. - Three Reasons We Love "Once Upon a Small Town"!
#onceuponasmalltown #어쩌다전원일기 #ahnjayoung South Korean telecommunications app giant KakaoTV has adapted a popular web novel series Accidental Country Diary into a fun innocent drama Once Upon a Small Town ! A story about a big city veterinarian who relocates to a small village against his will and befriends a local policewoman with dreams of escaping as soon as possible is one comedic drama you don't want to miss! Here are three reasons why we love this drama! 1. Cute Innocent Characters Han Ji Yul ( Choo Young Woo School 2021 ) is a veterinarian working in Seoul when his grandfather gives him a call to come to Heedong Village, where he runs a veterinary hospital. Ji Yul's grandfather doesn't mention any specifics so Ji Yul is clueless once he arrives. While at the village, Ji Yul begrudgingly befriends a local policewoman, Ahn Ja Young (Park Soo Young or Joy from Red Velvet ). Ja Young grew up in Heedong Village and seems to be friends with all the locals. The two strike a love/hate relationship at first which develops into something more as they get to know each other. Lee Sang Hyeong ( Baek Sung Chul Inspector Koo 2021) is Ja Young's childhood friend and an amazingly cute young farmer. He hides his true feelings for Ja Young, but as soon as he sees Ji Yul spending more time with her, decides to step up and tell her his feelings for her. The three instantly form a love triangle with the awkwardness of high school teenagers as they come together to solve the mundane everyday problems of the town. 2. Situational Comedic Moments This lighthearted drama has so many situational comedic moments such as a minor burglary by a local high schooler which ends up in an inter-town rivalry between the towns' spokeswomen. Or perhaps Ji Yul dealing with the neighbor's son letting himself into Ji Yul's house without permission. These small everyday but hilarious character interactions definitely have us nodding in agreement! 3. Animals Animals Animals! If you're an animal lover or just love farm animals, this drama is for you! With Ji Yul being a veterinarian, you're bound to see the cutest farm animals in every episode! Each episode deals with the town's livestock or pets, so sit down with your pet and enjoy this drama! Let us know if you love this drama as much as we do! - Korea's Biggest Music Festival RapBeat Festival From Our Point-of-view!
As autumn breezes start to cool off this overly humid summer in Seoul, the last of the summer concerts are here! From water festivals and returning city festivals after years inside due to COVID, this summer has been jam-packed with all kinds of festivals. We have been reviewing as much as we can for you and today we’re discussing the most anticipated Hip-Hop festival, Rapbeat! The annual Rapbeat festival is a large two-day festival showcasing the best of Korean Hip hop & R&B as well as international acts that usually act as headliners. This is the first one in several years and it did not disappoint. It had headliners consisting of CL , Simon Dominic , Loco , Amine , Lucky Daye , and Audrey Nuna performing over a two-day festival at Seoulland . All of the bigger festivals, like the recent NFT festival , have been held on their picnic grounds and have been filled with thousands of people. This festival was held on the main grounds as well as at three smaller stages spread throughout the amusement park. Most of the main acts were held at the "Rapbeat Stage" with some of them at an amphitheater deemed the "Chillax Stage" a bit of a walk away. Smaller acts performed at the "Phooey Stage" at the front of the park with DJs constantly performing all day at the "Boogie Stage" (where you can boogie all day, of course!) Before attending, many attendees planned to hop between stages, but it proved to be hard to do because of how far the stages were from each other. The fan-favorite acts of Saturday were definitely CL and PH-1 , both performing on the main stage. PH-1 performed early in the day to tons of adorning rap fans and CL was the first headliner later in the night. 2NE1 fans waved their light sticks while hip-hop fans jumped along to her solo songs. She has defined quite a career in the last year or so since she left YG and performed some of her newer works as well as old classics like "Dr. Pepper". Check out one of her performances below! (CL, Rapbeat Festival 2022) Lucky Daye was the main headliner of Saturday and we got an exclusive look into his life. We got a seat in the VIP lounge for his set. The clear view above all the fans was amazing! He had such a great stage presence and a velvet-like voice. He performed for close to an hour in a red leather suit that had most of the girls swooning as he sang his Grammy-award-winning love songs. He closed the show and everyone was left wanting more. (Lucky Daye, Rapbeat Festival 2022) Saturday night, we had the chance to actually meet Lucky Daye at the official afterparty at Club LIVIN in Gangnam. Turns out he was a friend of a friend from America! He was so kind and carried the same on stage persona and charisma. We hung out at the afterparty with several other celebrities where the club catered to everyone with bottles and great care. It was truly a reminder that if you want to see a piece of the limelight, head out to Gangnam for a night out! You’ll never know who you will see! (LIVIN Club, 2022) The festival continued on Sunday! The "Chillax Stage" had Shaun and Bloo performing, so we made sure to head over there during those times to relax and enjoy! Shaun performed with his former bandmates from his band The KOXX and serenaded the crowd early in the day. But sadly shortly after his set, a typhoon came in. The festival quickly turned into a water festival as heavy rain and strong winds came and even knocked out the power to the stage! (Since, Rapbeat Festival 2022) At this point, many fans were worried that the festival would be canceled. But Korea doesn’t stop for anything, not even a typhoon! Soon everyone got ponchos and umbrellas to power through the storm (Though it should be noted that while you couldn’t have an umbrella at the "Chillax" or "Boogie Stage", you could at the main stage.). Fans jumped and danced in the pouring rain as if there was no care in the world. It was amazing to see! Artists asked if the fans were okay and all of them begged for the show to go on. And so it did! (Deepshower, Rapbeat Festival 2022) Saturday’s headliners were Simon Dominic and Amine ! Simon Dominic commanded the stage with great presence! He has been performing for over 10 years and it really showed with how naturally he performed, even taking out his ear piece to show how he can perform without it. You could really hear the male fans rapping along, they were the loudest in the crowd! He did have his fair share of girls screaming about how handsome he was too. (Simon Dominic, Rapbeat Festival 2022) The final performance was Amine and we were shocked by how many fans he had. During Lucky Daye ’s performance, a lot of the crowd had dwindled out as it was the last show, but Amine ’s crowd was packed. He performed with high energy, often jumping all around the stage. He reassured the stage with a call and response, “You’re Beautiful!” “I know!” The crowd screamed their response and giggled with how silly it was, but it kept the mood and energy up in the drenching rain. His positive energy definitely ended the festival right. (Amine, Rapbeat Festival 2022) It was truly a festival that can proudly say it came back with a bang. Every artist performed wonderfully and the show went on through a typhoon. There are some extra performances below that you can check out! Let us know which was your favorite and if you would like to go next year! (Bloo, Rapbeat Festival 2022) (Shaun, Rapbeat Festival 2022) (Loco, Rapbeat Festival 2022)
- "Big Mouth" Finale Ends In Big Disappointment
#bigmouth #빅마우스 #leejongsuk #yoona Disney+ and MBC 's hit series Big Mouth ended its 16-episode run with the highest viewership rating yet! The final episode, aired on September 17, accrued a 13.7% viewership nationwide, good for second in its time slot, according to Nielsen Korea. But high viewership does not necessarily translate to a great drama. We break down the pitfalls of the final episode! * Contains spoilers! Short Recap During episode 15, we are taken aback by the news Ko Mi Ho (played by YoonA ) receives at the hospital when she has been diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. She contracted radiation from the underground accident while trying to save the prisoners, but keeps this news to herself. With this information, she is ready to take down Mayor Choi as she knows for a fact that the underground water pipes from the fish farm are filled with radiated water. Back to the finale when Park Chan Ho ( Lee Jong Suk ) is facing Mayor Choi ( Kim Joo Hun ) during a mayoral televised debate. As the two try to take each other down by exposing past secrets, Mi Ho travels to the fish farm to obtain video admittance from the farm's owner that the water used has been contaminated by NK Chemical, the company where Mayor Choi is the majority owner. Once verified on video by the farm's owner, Mi Ho rushes to the television station to play it during the mayoral debate. This news ultimately strikes up an investigation of Mayor Choi's involvement in the matter and a court date is set. Meanwhile, Mayor Choi wins the election and assumes his duties once again as the Mayor of Gucheon. During the trial, the lack of evidence against Mayor Choi is found and Mayor Choi is set free. How does Chan Ho get his revenge? Although so many things are set in motion, we can't forget that Mi Ho's time is limited as she eventually cannot fight off her cancer anymore and passes away peacefully in Chan Ho's arms. At the end of the episode, we find out that Chan Ho has bought the building where Mayor Choi is always seen swimming with his wife. Chan Ho has refilled the pool water with the contaminated fish farm water. As he approaches Mayor Choi getting out of the pool, we witness Mayor Choi spitting out blood as he dies from radiation poisoning. What about the ending? We had high hopes for this drama as it proved to be a winner throughout the series. It finally came down to the final 10 minutes of the finale when we were sorely disappointed at how the drama finished. Rushed black and white flashbacks of trying to wrap up all the loose ends without much explanation really killed the drama for us. The quickness of the episode from Mi Ho's fast death to a rushed ending without an explanation of what happened to Mayor Choi's wife left us in disbelief! We wish there would be a season two to wrap up everything with more time, but that might be a long shot! Let us know your thoughts about this drama! Do you think it ended well? Should there be a season 2?
