  • Kim Go Eun & Uhm Ji Won Battle It Out In "Little Women" Finale!

tvN and Netflix's highly touted family drama Little Women ended its 12-episode run with the highest ratings ever with 11.105% (1st Nielsen Korea) of nationwide audiences tuning in to its final episode on October 9! The amazing ending brought the satisfaction and justice that we were waiting for! Here's what happened! During Oh In Ju's ( Kim Go Eun ) trial for the embezzlement of 70 billion Korean won ($53.3 million), Jin Hwa Young appears in court surprising everyone, including Won Sang Ah ( Uhm Ji Won ). Hwa Young pleads to the judge In Ju's innocence by describing how Sang Ah was indeed behind everything by exposing the ledgers on the app she created earlier. Hwa Young claims that Sang Ah used her to accumulate great wealth in a span of over 10 years. Shocked, In Ju couldn't believe her friend has been alive all this time and anger rises up in her eyes. Hwa Young tells the court to pardon In Ju for everything since she was just a pawn in her plan. The judge gives In Ju two years of probation and releases her from jail. A while later, at their late great-aunt's house, Hwa Young explains why she sent 2 billion won ($1,402,033 USD) to In Ju and stated, "I wanted In Ju to be happy". She went on to say to In Ju to "buy the apartment you wanted so much." She goes on to explain that while In Ju was in Singapore, she followed her and tried to protect her by driving her car in between the truck and In Ju's car. Later on, in a press conference, Hwa Young reveals the two years of planning and execution of the suicide including working with another woman who appeared to look similar to Hwa Young. Hwa Young exposes Sang Ah, through her home CCTV, as the real murderer when she goes to Hwa Young's house to kill her, but instead kills the look-alike woman instead. Hwa Young further goes on to provide solid evidence on the app she created for the slush fund ledgers to the public. Driven by madness and stress from the trial and accusations, Won Sang Ah goes to the hospital where her father is lying in critical condition and kills him using a dose of the "blue orchid" serum. She kidnaps Hwa Young and calls In Ju to come and save her. In Ju rushes to Sang Ah's home at the orchid tree to find Hwa Young tied up and Sang Ah sitting beside her with a maniacal look on her face. Sang Ah describes the situation that there is no way they will leave since the whole room is set up with hydrochloric acid sprinklers that will go off at any time. Sang Ah explains her transformation into her becoming a monster because of her mother refusing to leave her father. Sang Ah's mother hangs herself in the "closed room" closet therefore forever cementing the image in Sang Ah's mind of her further murders. Sang Ah, in a fit of rage during the conversation, presses the sprinklers to activate the acid, and Hwa Young starts to feel the pain. In Ju rushes to save her by throwing the grenade that she brought and blows up a metal grate to use as a shield to block the acid from the ceiling. Sang Ah tries to stop them from escaping but after a scuffle, In Ju throws Sang Ah in the hydrochloric acid pool killing her. In the aftermath of the event, we find out what happened to the money as it was secretly divided into Sang Ah's daughter, Park Hyo Rin's, bank account advised by Choi Do Il ( Wi Ha Joon ). Oh In Hye ( Park Ji Hu ) is left in charge of the distribution of the money and gives the majority to In Ju since she has sacrificed the most in order to provide for her younger sisters. In Ju finally has the apartment of her dreams, In Kyung ( Nam Ji Hyun ) can finally travel the world with her new boyfriend, Ha Jong Ho ( Kang Hoon ), and In Hye can have a great life as a teenager! Our Thoughts An amazing ending to an amazing drama! The sacrifices we make for our loved ones are deeply portrayed within this drama. How much money does it take for someone to realize that too much can ruin their lives? Little Women is less about the money, and more about sisterhood, friendship, and loyalty to those around you. There is no amount of money in the world that can/should destroy these traits! Let us know your thoughts on this drama! Did our points resonate with you? Share your experiences and opinions below!

  • Where to find these Trendy Hanbok Styles for Fall!

Fashion trends in Korea are constantly changing. Whether it is thigh-high white boots or those Y2K baggy jeans that have been trending worldwide, fashion is often the bridge from idols/actors to everyday people. You can follow airport fashion or outfits from music videos to see what is currently popular in the fashion world in Korea. However, the newest trend is more street fashion meets the ever-growing trend of making something old, Hanboks, new again. Hanboks are the traditional clothing for women in Korea. They have been around for thousands of years and have undergone several style changes in that time. Hanboks used to be everyday wear for Korean women and now have started to trend as such again. As K-pop and the Korean Hallyu wave only gets bigger, a desire to connect to Korean roots has been seen from traditional style music videos to modernized hanboks. Kim Yuna has hopped on this trend as well. The retired Olympic champion has found time in between planning her upcoming wedding to design a Hanbok fashion line to be shown at a London Fashion show this month. She helped design a hanbok as well as modeled some of the over 60 hanboks being shown in the show. The show is titled “Hanbok Fashion Show, The Hanbok Wave" , which highlights the interest in these traditional outfits abroad. To further promote the line, a video of the photoshoot will be shown in Times Square later this year. Are you interested in wearing a Hanbok but have no idea where to start? There are several brands that make wearing hanboks easy to wear. If you live abroad, Kooding.com is a great place to start. They have tons of modernized hanbok designs from many different designers that mirror the ones you can see Koreans wearing in Seoul. They have several unisex separates as well as full dresses at varying prices. If you are plus sized and concerned about the Korean sizing, look no further. There is a fairly new plus-size hanbok brand called Hoya . The brand was started in 2020 to cater to women who couldn’t find their size in traditional Hanbok shops. They have many designs in sizes up to XXL. They use recycled vintage fabrics found in traditional markets in Seoul. So while they are a bit on the expensive side with prices starting from $200, you’d be getting authentic pieces fitted to you. If you’re in Seoul, you have many options to find hanboks on the street and online. There are several brands with online sites and physical stores across Seoul. There is Nabim , a brand that has hanbok-styled sweat suits to beautiful silk dresses. They have an online store where you can find most of their designs. They are a designer line, so expect very expensive prices. If you prefer to shop in person, Insadong is a great place to start. The Seoul neighborhood is famous for all of its traditional shops and vibes. You can find traditional hanboks, hair accessories, jewelry, shoes, and more in its back streets and malls. You can build a complete outfit fit for a modern princess. Insadong is located near all of the palaces and historical museums which makes it a tourist hotspot. You can find traditional snack shops and restaurants to fuel your shopping sprees as well. Like any of the Hanboks shown here? Or know any cool shops? Link them below!

  • Here's Why Girl Groups Are Dominating K-pop Charts!

If you look at all the top K-pop charts nowadays, you'll notice one trend. They are all dominated by girl groups! We break down the reasons why this is! First, in order to understand the current trend of K-pop, we need to understand where it came from. K-pop is separated by generations (the average ages that idols were born). First Generation The first came in with the "birth of K-pop" with groups such as H.O.T. and S.E.S. These idols were born in the '80s and were based on American boy band concepts and Japanese idols. Second Generation Between the first and second generations, many groups were focused on R&B and there were many groups that experimented with a variety of sounds such as Shinhwa , Chakra , and Papaya . Through these earlier groups, the second generation started experimenting with the different styles and personalities of each group. Groups like Orange Caramel , Crayon Pop , Big Bang , Super Junior , Kara all had a variety of styles such as sexy , cute , or girl crush . These groups were appropriately labeled as the "next powerhouse music groups in Asia" and secured South Korea's entertainment dominance in the Asia/Pacific Region. Rightly so, the term " Hallyu " refers to the Korean term for the global popularity of the Korean cultural economy which includes K-pop, K-dramas, and movies. Third Generation Girl groups in the third generation such as TWICE , BLACKPINK , and Red Velvet is currently the most popular globally and with groups like BLACKPINK breaking all types of music industry standards, K-pop has cemented itself into the global music scene. The groups from this generation are purely girl crush . With entertainment companies now more confident than before that girl groups can attract the same attention and fandom as boy groups, they have been pushing to release more girl-centric groups that have charisma. Fourth Generation The current fourth-generation girl groups like New Jeans , IVE , and Le Sserafim have reverted back to the second-generation experimental sound and a variety of personalities ranging from cute to sexy and girl crush . So What's With The Girl Groups? Due to the recent success of various girl groups in recent years with the options to collaborate with global luxury brands such as YSL , Dior , and Chanel , entertainment companies are sure to make profits from the charisma and personalities of girl group idols. Therefore, every Korean entertainment company has been pouring their resources to develop and train girl groups like never before, and we see the result! • 3 Reasons Why "The Golden Spoon" Needs To Be In Your Fall K-Drama Rotation!

How far would you go in order to be rich? Would you sacrifice your family and friends? MBC 's new fantasy drama is based on the webtoon with the same name about a poor high school student who suddenly acquires a golden spoon from a mysterious woman. He switches bodies with a wealthy classmate and assumes his life. Sounds like your type of drama? Stick around, we'll tell you why this drama should be in your fall rotation! Lee Seung Cheon ( Yook Sung Jae of BTOB ) is a 17-year-old high school student who dreams of turning his life around from a dire situation at home. His family is riddled with debt and drowning in constant pressure from debt collectors. His only method of escaping is getting into Seoul National University (the Korean equivalent of Harvard University). One day, he meets an old woman on the street who asks him if he wants to change his life around. She offers him a golden spoon and says that he must eat three meals at his wealthy friend's home and will automatically switch bodies and life with him. Hwang Tae Yong ( Lee Jong Won Hospital Playlist 2 2021) is a stuck-up rich boy and classmate of Seung Cheon. He is the heir to the family fortune of one of the wealthiest men in South Korea. Seung Cheon accomplishes his goal of eating three meals at Tae Yong's house and switches bodies with him. The two embark on a life-changing route of discovering who and what really matters to them as they use their polar opposite positions to improve their relationships with those around them. Here are three reasons why we love this drama! 1. Gorgeous Cast Automatically assuming that once a K-pop idol, Yook Sung Jae, is the main role, that there is eye candy to be had all around! Accompanying him is his good friend Na Ju Hee ( Jung Chae Yeon The King's Affection 2021) who is Seung Cheon's gorgeous classmate and is the daughter of a conglomerate but wants to live her life her way. Equally stunning Lee Jong Won plays a tall and handsome, but cold demeanor rival to Seung Cheon. 2. Incredible Character Development The background story of each of the main characters is very well done! We get a peek into their lives and their relationships with their wealthy parents. Na Ju Hee is one character that many people will fall in love with! Her hard work and determination to make it on her own despite her wealthy background create an intimate bond with the audience. Yook Sung Jae's character, Seung Cheon, is complex and calculating not trusting anyone around him, and plots his agenda to take control of his rival family's fortune. We can also relate to his working-class background with a close-knit family. 3. Great Storytelling Rarely do we come across in-depth character development with great storytelling. The Golden Spoon has both! The drive to succeed and to get out of a dire situation is something many people can relate to therefore Yook Sung Jae does a wonderful job of portraying someone who is down out of luck and desperately in need of a dramatic change. The supporting cast around him also does an amazing job at either standing in the way of his dream of becoming "filthy rich" or helping him achieve his dream. Ending Thoughts Although we are not normally fantasy drama types, this drama is definitely a must-watch! This up-and-coming cast of new idols/actors is a sight to behold! Not only do they all look great on screen, but they have the amazing talent to back it up! You can watch The Golden Spoon on MBC TV or stream on Disney+ every Friday and Saturday at 21:50 KST from September 23 until November 12. What do you think about this drama? Is it on your playlist?
