Want to “Run Into” IVE in Seoul? Here’s How Google Maps Can Help
How Google Maps might accidentally lead you straight to your favourite K-pop idols, including IVE! We have the details!
The streets of Seoul are known for being crowded at the best of times, so imagine walking around the streets of Seoul and bumping into a top-tier K-pop star!
For the Dojeon Media team, this feels like a scenario right out of a K-drama. Yet, a trending social media post shows that tracking down these awesome artists could just be as simple as opening up Google Maps.
Why Google Maps Is the App to Use
In the past, Korea's mapping regulations restricted foreign mapping companies from working to the best of their ability, meaning that they were less reliable for finding places, having updated information, and using the real-time community sharing function.
However, since it was announced that these regulations have been lifted, allowing Google Maps' crowdsourced place pins to work in Korea, it has become the ultimate secret weapon for fan meet-ups and idol appearances.
How We Can Run Into Them
Fans of IVE have realized that reading through blogs and forums and paying attention to local updates can point towards celebrity appearances. However, checking out fresh community pins on Google Maps has pointed towards a new way to be in with the chance of catching your favorite artists working or on set!
Why They Are Doing This
So why is IVE doing this? This is a question for many, including the Dojeon Media team. It is not unusual for performers to take part in surprise appearances or outdoor shoots to help promote new material and gain new fans.
These spontaneous public appearances do often go viral, gaining invaluable word-of-mouth and global attention. For IVE, gaining new fans and building genuine fan excitement, while at the same time going viral for it, can help to build more interest in them and their brand.
Upcoming Release Details
IVE is set to drop a big comeback with their 5th mini-album titled Looks Can Kill. Fans can mark their calendars for a pre-release track dropping on October 19, 2026, followed by the full mini-album release on October 26th, 2026.
Fan Reviews
The K-pop community has been going wild over these map-based celebrity sightings and viral videos. For many IVE enthusiasts, having the chance to meet them in person is more than just a simple dream; it is, in fact, an unforgettable experience!
Final Thoughts
For the Dojeon Media team, having the opportunity to meet and see your favorite K-idols in person is like a dream come true for many. Imagine being in Seoul and running into one of your favourite idols. With the restrictions being lifted on Google Maps, it means that music lovers everywhere can turn what seems to be an ordinary navigation app into a secret-spotting guide, which changes the whole sightseeing experience.
